Al-Qur'an Surah Al-Qalam Verse 18

Al-Qalam [68]: 18 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

وَلَا يَسْتَثْنُوْنَ (القلم : ٦٨)

walā
وَلَا
And not
yastathnūna
يَسْتَثْنُونَ
making exception

Transliteration:

Wa laa yastasnoon (QS. al-Q̈alam:18)

English / Sahih Translation:

Without making exception. (QS. Al-Qalam, ayah 18)

and did not make any exception (by saying inshā’allāh ).

leaving no thought for Allah’s Will.[[ Another possible translation: “… without leaving some for the poor.”]]

Tafsir jalalayn

And they did not make any exception, to their vow, for God's will (the sentence is a new [syntactically independent] one, in other words; and that was their condition).

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

Without (saying;"If Allah wills.")

meaning their vow that they made. Therefore, Allah broke their vow.

He then said,

فَطَافَ عَلَيْهَا طَايِفٌ مِّن رَّبِّكَ وَهُمْ نَايِمُونَ
