Al-Qur'an Surah Al-Mulk Verse 17

Or, have you become fearless of Him who is in the sky if He looses a violent wind with stones against you? So, you will soon come to know how was My warning!

Or did you become safe/secure (trust) whom (are) in the sky/space that (E) He sends on you a violent wind carrying pebbles and hail/hail laden clouds? So you will know how was My warning/notice.

Tafsir jalalayn

Are you secure [in thinking] that He Who is in the heaven will not unleash (an yursila substitutes for man, `He Who') upon you a squall of pebbles?, a wind hurling pebbles at you. But you will [soon] come to know, upon seeing the chastisement with your own eyes, the nature of My warning, My warning of chastisement, in other words, [you will soon see] that it was true.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

أَمْ أَمِنتُم مَّن فِي السَّمَاء أَن يُرْسِلَ عَلَيْكُمْ حَاصِبًا

Or do you feel secure that He, Who is over the heaven, will not send against you a Hasib?

meaning, a wind containing gravel that will strike you, as Allah says in another Ayah,

أَفَأَمِنتُمْ أَن يَخْسِفَ بِكُمْ جَانِبَ الْبَرِّ أَوْ يُرْسِلَ عَلَيْكُمْ حَاصِبًا ثُمَّ لَا تَجِدُواْ لَكُمْ وَكِيلً

Do you then feel secure that He will not cause a side of the land to swallow you up, or that He will not send against you a violent sandstorm Then, you shall find no trustee. (17;68)

And similarly, here Allah threatens them with His statement,

فَسَتَعْلَمُونَ كَيْفَ نَذِيرِ




Then you shall know how has been My warning.

meaning, `how is My admonition and what will happen to those who disregard and reject it.'
