Al-Qur'an Surah At-Tahrim Verse 2

At-Tahrim [66]: 2 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

قَدْ فَرَضَ اللّٰهُ لَكُمْ تَحِلَّةَ اَيْمَانِكُمْۚ وَاللّٰهُ مَوْلٰىكُمْۚ وَهُوَ الْعَلِيْمُ الْحَكِيْمُ (التحريم : ٦٦)

And Allah

مَوْلَىٰكُمْۖ
(is) your Protector
wahuwa
وَهُوَ
and He
l-ʿalīmu
ٱلْعَلِيمُ
(is) the All-Knower
l-ḥakīmu
ٱلْحَكِيمُ
the All-Wise

Transliteration:

Qad faradal laahu lakum tahillata aymaanikum; wallaahu mawlaakum wa huwal'aleemul hakeem (QS. at-Taḥrīm:2)

English / Sahih Translation:

Allah has already ordained for you [Muslims] the dissolution of your oaths. And Allah is your protector, and He is the Knowing, the Wise. (QS. At-Tahrim, ayah 2)

Allah has prescribed (the way of) absolution from your oaths. And Allah is your protector, and He is the All- Knowing, the All-Wise.

English Literal

God had commanded/made a duty for you, expiation/oath dissolution dues (of) your oaths , and God is your ally/master , and He is the knowledgeable, the wise/judicious.

Tafsir jalalayn

Verily God has prescribed, He has made lawful, for you [when necessary] the absolution of your oaths, to absolve them by expiation, as mentioned in the srat al-M'ida [Q. 5;89] and the forbidding of [sexual relations with] a handmaiden counts as an oath, so did the Prophet (s) expiate? Muqtil [b. Sulaymn] said, `He set free a slave [in expiation] for his prohibition of Mriya'; whereas al-Hasan [al-Basr] said, `He never expiated, because the Prophet (s) has been forgiven [all errors]'. And God is your Protector, your Helper, and He is the Knower, the Wise.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

وَإِذْ أَسَرَّ النَّبِيُّ إِلَى بَعْضِ أَزْوَاجِهِ حَدِيثًا

فَلَمَّا نَبَّأَتْ بِهِ

وَأَظْهَرَهُ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ

عَرَّفَ بَعْضَهُ وَأَعْرَضَ عَن بَعْضٍ

فَلَمَّا نَبَّأَهَا بِهِ قَالَتْ مَنْ أَنبَأَكَ هَذَا قَالَ نَبَّأَنِيَ الْعَلِيمُ الْخَبِيرُ
