Surah At-Tahrim - Page: 2

(The Prohibition)

11

وَضَرَبَ اللّٰهُ مَثَلًا لِّلَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوا امْرَاَتَ فِرْعَوْنَۘ اِذْ قَالَتْ رَبِّ ابْنِ لِيْ عِنْدَكَ بَيْتًا فِى الْجَنَّةِ وَنَجِّنِيْ مِنْ فِرْعَوْنَ وَعَمَلِهٖ وَنَجِّنِيْ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ الظّٰلِمِيْنَۙ ١١

waḍaraba
وَضَرَبَ
And presents
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
mathalan
مَثَلًا
an example
lilladhīna
لِّلَّذِينَ
for those who
āmanū
ءَامَنُوا۟
believed
im'ra-ata
ٱمْرَأَتَ
(the) wife
fir'ʿawna
فِرْعَوْنَ
(of) Firaun
idh
إِذْ
when
qālat
قَالَتْ
she said
rabbi
رَبِّ
"My Lord!
ib'ni
ٱبْنِ
Build
لِى
for me
ʿindaka
عِندَكَ
near You
baytan
بَيْتًا
a house
فِى
in
l-janati
ٱلْجَنَّةِ
Paradise
wanajjinī
وَنَجِّنِى
and save me
min
مِن
from
fir'ʿawna
فِرْعَوْنَ
Firaun
waʿamalihi
وَعَمَلِهِۦ
and his deeds
wanajjinī
وَنَجِّنِى
and save me
mina
مِنَ
from
l-qawmi
ٱلْقَوْمِ
the people
l-ẓālimīna
ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ
the wrongdoers"
And Allah presents an example of those who believed: the wife of Pharaoh, when she said, "My Lord, build for me near You a house in Paradise and save me from Pharaoh and his deeds and save me from the wrongdoing people." (QS. [66] At-Tahrim: 11)
Tafsir
12

وَمَرْيَمَ ابْنَتَ عِمْرٰنَ الَّتِيْٓ اَحْصَنَتْ فَرْجَهَا فَنَفَخْنَا فِيْهِ مِنْ رُّوْحِنَا وَصَدَّقَتْ بِكَلِمٰتِ رَبِّهَا وَكُتُبِهٖ وَكَانَتْ مِنَ الْقٰنِتِيْنَ ࣖ ۔ ١٢

wamaryama
وَمَرْيَمَ
And Maryam
ib'nata
ٱبْنَتَ
(the) daughter
ʿim'rāna
عِمْرَٰنَ
(of) Imran
allatī
ٱلَّتِىٓ
who
aḥṣanat
أَحْصَنَتْ
guarded
farjahā
فَرْجَهَا
her chastity
fanafakhnā
فَنَفَخْنَا
so We breathed
fīhi
فِيهِ
into it
min
مِن
of
rūḥinā
رُّوحِنَا
Our Spirit
waṣaddaqat
وَصَدَّقَتْ
And she believed
bikalimāti
بِكَلِمَٰتِ
(in the) Words
rabbihā
رَبِّهَا
(of) her Lord
wakutubihi
وَكُتُبِهِۦ
and His Books
wakānat
وَكَانَتْ
and she was
mina
مِنَ
of
l-qānitīna
ٱلْقَٰنِتِينَ
the devoutly obedient
And [the example of] Mary, the daughter of Imran, who guarded her chastity, so We blew into [her garment] through Our angel [i.e., Gabriel], and she believed in the words of her Lord and His scriptures and was of the devoutly obedient. (QS. [66] At-Tahrim: 12)
