Al-Qur'an Surah Al-Jumu'ah Verse 8

Al-Jumu'ah [62]: 8 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

قُلْ اِنَّ الْمَوْتَ الَّذِيْ تَفِرُّوْنَ مِنْهُ فَاِنَّهٗ مُلٰقِيْكُمْ ثُمَّ تُرَدُّوْنَ اِلٰى عَالِمِ الْغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَادَةِ فَيُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُوْنَ ࣖ (الجمعة : ٦٢)

qul
قُلْ
Say
inna
إِنَّ
"Indeed
l-mawta
ٱلْمَوْتَ
the death
alladhī
ٱلَّذِى
which
tafirrūna
تَفِرُّونَ
you flee
min'hu
مِنْهُ
from it
fa-innahu
فَإِنَّهُۥ
then surely it
mulāqīkum
مُلَٰقِيكُمْۖ
(will) meet you
thumma
ثُمَّ
Then
turaddūna
تُرَدُّونَ
you will be sent back
ilā
إِلَىٰ
to
ʿālimi
عَٰلِمِ
(the) All-Knower
l-ghaybi
ٱلْغَيْبِ
(of) the unseen
wal-shahādati
وَٱلشَّهَٰدَةِ
and the witnessed
fayunabbi-ukum
فَيُنَبِّئُكُم
and He will inform you
bimā
بِمَا
of what
kuntum
كُنتُمْ
you used (to)
taʿmalūna
تَعْمَلُونَ
do"

Transliteration:

Qul innal mawtal lazee tafirroona minhu fa innahoo mulaaqeekum summa turaddoona ilaa 'Aalimil Ghaibi wash shahaadati fa yunabbi'ukum bimaa kuntum ta'maloon (QS. al-Jumuʿah:8)

English / Sahih Translation:

Say, "Indeed, the death from which you flee – indeed, it will meet you. Then you will be returned to the Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, and He will inform you about what you used to do." (QS. Al-Jumu'ah, ayah 8)

Mufti Taqi Usmani

Say, “Indeed, the death from which you (try to) run away has to visit you, then you will be sent back to the Knower of the Unseen and the seen, and He will tell you what you used to do.

Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran

Say, “The death you are running away from will inevitably come to you. Then you will be returned to the Knower of the seen and unseen, and He will inform you of what you used to do.”

Ruwwad Translation Center

Say, “The death from which you run away will surely overcome you, then you will be brought back to the Knower of the unseen and the seen, and He will inform you of what you used to do.”

Say: 'Surely death, from which you flee, shall encounter you; then you shall be returned to the Knower of the Unseen and the Visible, and He will tell you that you have been doing.'

so say, ‘The death you run away from will come to meet you and you will be returned to the One who knows the unseen as well as the seen: He will tell you everything you have done.’

Say thou: verily the death which ye flee from! then verily it will meet you and thereafter ye will be brought back Unto the Knower of the unseen and the seen, and He will declare Unto you that which ye have been working.

Say; "The Death from which ye flee will truly overtake you; then will ye be sent back to the Knower of things secret and open; and He will tell you (the truth of) the things that ye did!"

Tell them: “The death from which you flee will certainly overtake you. Then you will be returned to Him Who fully knows what is hidden and what is manifest. Thereupon He will let you know all that you used to do.”

Tell them: "Death from which you run, will surely come to you. You will then be sent back to Him who knows the unknown and the known, who will tell you what you used to do.

Proclaim (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), “Indeed death which you run away from will surely confront you, then you will be returned to Him Who knows all the hidden and the visible – He will then inform you of what you did.”

Ali Quli Qarai

Say, ‘The death that you flee will indeed encounter you. Then you will be returned to the Knower of the sensible and the Unseen, and He will inform you about what you used to do.’

Ali Ünal

Say: "Death, from which you flee, will surely meet you in any case. Then you will be returned to the Knower of the Unseen and the witnessed, and He will make you understand all that you were doing (and call you to account).

Amatul Rahman Omar

Say, `The death from which you flee is sure to overtake you. Then you will be brought before the Knower of the unseen and the seen, and He will inform you of the truth about all that you had been doing.´

English Literal

Say: "That truly the death/lifelessness which you run away/flee from it, so that it truly is meeting/finding you , then you be returned to knower (of) the unseen/hidden/super natural and the testimony/presence , so He informs you with what you were making/doing ."

Proclaim (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), “Indeed death which you run away from will surely confront you, then you will be returned to Him Who knows all the hidden and the visible - He will then inform you of what you did.”

Say, "The death from which you flee, that will surely overtake you, then you shall be sent back to the Knower of the unseen and the seen, and He will inform you of that which you used to do."

Say (to them): "Verily, the death from which you flee will surely meet you, then you will be sent back to (Allah), the All-Knower of the unseen and the seen, and He will tell you what you used to do."

But they will never invoke it because of what their hands have sent before. And Allah is Knower of the wrongdoers.

Say: (As for) the death from which you flee, that will surely overtake you, then you shall be sent back to the Knower of the unseen and the seen, and He will inform you of that which you did.

Say: 'Death from which you flee is sure to reach you. Then you shall be returned to the Knower of the Unseen and the Visible, and He will tell you all that you have done'

Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri

Say: "Verily, the death from which you flee, will surely meet you, then you will be sent back to the Knower of the unseen and the seen, and He will inform you about what you used to do."

Wahiduddin Khan

So say, "The death you run away from will certainly meet you, and thereafter you will be brought back to the Knower of the unseen and the seen, and He will declare to you what you have done."

Talal Itani

Say, “The death from which you flee will catch up with you; then you will be returned to the Knower of the Invisible and the Visible, and He will inform you of what you used to do.”

Tafsir jalalayn

Say; `Assuredly the death from which you flee (fa-innahu; the f' is extra) will indeed encounter you; then you will be returned to the Knower of the Unseen and the visible, [the Knower of] what is [kept] secret and what is in the open, and He will inform you of what you used to do', whereat He will requite you for it.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

Say;

"Verily, the death from which you flee will surely meet you, then you will be sent back to the Knower of the unseen and the seen, and He will inform you about what you used to do."

is like His saying in Surah An-Nisa';

أَيْنَمَا تَكُونُواْ يُدْرِككُّمُ الْمَوْتُ وَلَوْ كُنتُمْ فِى بُرُوجٍ مُّشَيَّدَةٍ

Wheresoever you may be, death will overtake you even if you are in fortresses built up strong and high
