Surah Al-Jumu'ah - Page: 2

(The Congregation, Friday)

11

وَاِذَا رَاَوْا تِجَارَةً اَوْ لَهْوًا ۨانْفَضُّوْٓا اِلَيْهَا وَتَرَكُوْكَ قَاۤىِٕمًاۗ قُلْ مَا عِنْدَ اللّٰهِ خَيْرٌ مِّنَ اللَّهْوِ وَمِنَ التِّجَارَةِۗ وَاللّٰهُ خَيْرُ الرّٰزِقِيْنَ ࣖ ١١

wa-idhā
وَإِذَا
And when
ra-aw
رَأَوْا۟
they saw
tijāratan
تِجَٰرَةً
a transaction
aw
أَوْ
or
lahwan
لَهْوًا
a sport
infaḍḍū
ٱنفَضُّوٓا۟
they rushed
ilayhā
إِلَيْهَا
to it
watarakūka
وَتَرَكُوكَ
and left you
qāiman
قَآئِمًاۚ
standing
qul
قُلْ
Say
مَا
"What
ʿinda
عِندَ
(is) with
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
khayrun
خَيْرٌ
(is) better
mina
مِّنَ
than
l-lahwi
ٱللَّهْوِ
the sport
wamina
وَمِنَ
and from
l-tijārati
ٱلتِّجَٰرَةِۚ
(any) transaction
wal-lahu
وَٱللَّهُ
And Allah
khayru
خَيْرُ
(is the) Best
l-rāziqīna
ٱلرَّٰزِقِينَ
(of) the Providers"
But [on one occasion] when they saw a transaction or a diversion, [O Muhammad], they rushed to it and left you standing. Say, "What is with Allah is better than diversion and than a transaction, and Allah is the best of providers." (QS. [62] Al-Jumu'ah: 11)
