Surah (Al-An'am)

Al-An'am [6]: 85 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

وَزَكَرِيَّا وَيَحْيٰى وَعِيْسٰى وَاِلْيَاسَۗ كُلٌّ مِّنَ الصّٰلِحِيْنَۙ (الأنعام : ٦)

wazakariyyā
وَزَكَرِيَّا: And Zakariya

wayaḥyā
وَيَحْيَىٰ: and Yahya

waʿīsā
وَعِيسَىٰ: and Isa

wa-il'yāsa
وَإِلْيَاسَۖ: and Ilyas -

kullun
كُلٌّ: all were

mina
مِّنَ: of

l-ṣāliḥīna
ٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ: the righteous

Transliteration:

Wa Zakariyyaa wa Yahyaa wa 'Eesaa wa Illyaasa kullum minas saaliheen (QS. al-ʾAnʿām:85)

English / Sahih Translation:

And Zechariah and John and Jesus and Elias – and all were of the righteous. (QS. Al-An'am, ayah 85)

and (We guided) Zakariyyā and YaHyā and ‘Īsā and Ilyās -each one of them was of the righteous-

Tafsir jalalayn

And Zachariah and, his son, John, and Jesus, son of Mary -- this shows that [the term] `seed' (dhurriyya) can include offspring from the female [side] -- and Elias, the paternal nephew of Aaron, brother of Moses; all, of them, were of the righteous.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

وَإِسْمَاعِيلَ وَالْيَسَعَ وَيُونُسَ وَلُوطًا

وَكُلًّ فضَّلْنَا عَلَى الْعَالَمِينَ
