Al-Qur'an Surah Al-An'am Verse 4

Al-An'am [6]: 4 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

وَمَا تَأْتِيْهِمْ مِّنْ اٰيَةٍ مِّنْ اٰيٰتِ رَبِّهِمْ اِلَّا كَانُوْا عَنْهَا مُعْرِضِيْنَ (الأنعام : ٦)

wamā

(the) Signs

مُعْرِضِينَ
turning away

Transliteration:

Wa maa taateehim min Aayatim min Aayaati Rabbihim illaa kaanoo 'anhaa mu'rideen (QS. al-ʾAnʿām:4)

English / Sahih Translation:

And no sign comes to them from the signs of their Lord except that they turn away therefrom. (QS. Al-An'am, ayah 4)

Yet whenever a sign from the signs of their Lord comes to them, they do nothing but turn away from it.

Tafsir jalalayn

Not a verse (min ya; min introduces a relative clause) of the verses of their Lord, in the Qur'n, comes to them, that is, [to] the Meccans, but they turn away from it.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

Threatening the Idolators for their Stubbornness

Allah says;

وَمَا تَأْتِيهِم مِّنْ ايَةٍ مِّنْ ايَاتِ رَبِّهِمْ إِلاَّ كَانُواْ عَنْهَا مُعْرِضِينَ



And never an Ayah comes to them from the Ayat of their Lord, but that they have been turning away from it.

Allah states that the rebellious, stubborn polytheists will turn away from every Ayah, meaning, sign, miracle and proof that is evidence of Allah's Uniqueness and the truth of His honorable Messengers. They will not contemplate about these Ayat or care about them.

Allah said,

فَقَدْ كَذَّبُواْ بِالْحَقِّ لَمَّا جَاءهُمْ فَسَوْفَ يَأْتِيهِمْ أَنبَاء مَا كَانُواْ بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِوُونَ
