Al-Qur'an Surah Al-An'am Verse 23
Al-An'am [6]: 23 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer
ثُمَّ لَمْ تَكُنْ فِتْنَتُهُمْ اِلَّآ اَنْ قَالُوْا وَاللّٰهِ رَبِّنَا مَا كُنَّا مُشْرِكِيْنَ (الأنعام : ٦)

Transliteration:
Summa lam takun fitnatuhum illaaa an qaaloo wallaahi Rabbinaa maa kunnaa mushrikeen(QS. al-ʾAnʿām:23)
English / Sahih Translation:
Then there will be no [excuse upon] examination except they will say, "By Allah, our Lord, we were not those who associated." (QS. Al-An'am, ayah 23)

Then, they will have no other mischievous move but that they will say, “By Allah, our Lord, we ascribed no partners to Allah.”

Tafsir jalalayn
Then their dissension (read accusative fitnatahum or nominative fitnatuhum) their apology, was (read lam takun or lam yakun) only to say, in other words, [was only] their saying, `By God, our Lord (read rabbin as an adjective of [wa'Llhi, `by God'], or rabban as a vocative) we were never idolaters'.
Tafseer Ibn Kathir
ثُمَّ لَمْ تَكُن فِتْنَتُهُمْ
There will then be (left) no Fitnah for them,
means, argument.
Ata' Al-Khurasani said that,
ثُمَّ لَمْ تَكُن فِتْنَتُهُمْ
(There will then be (left) no Fitnah for them),
in the face of the affliction that will be placed on them,
إِلاَّ أَن قَالُواْ وَاللّهِ رَبِّنَا مَا كُنَّا مُشْرِكِينَ
but to say;"By Allah, our Lord, we were not those who joined others (in worship with Allah)."
Allah said next,
انظُرْ كَيْفَ كَذَبُواْ عَلَى أَنفُسِهِمْ وَضَلَّ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُواْ يَفْتَرُونَ
