Al-Qur'an Surah Al-An'am Verse 113

Al-An'am [6]: 113 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

وَلِتَصْغٰٓى اِلَيْهِ اَفْـِٕدَةُ الَّذِيْنَ لَا يُؤْمِنُوْنَ بِالْاٰخِرَةِ وَلِيَرْضَوْهُ وَلِيَقْتَرِفُوْا مَا هُمْ مُّقْتَرِفُوْنَ (الأنعام : ٦)

walitaṣghā
وَلِتَصْغَىٰٓ
And so that incline
ilayhi
إِلَيْهِ
to it
afidatu
أَفْـِٔدَةُ
hearts
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
(of) those who
لَا
(do) not
yu'minūna
يُؤْمِنُونَ
believe
bil-ākhirati
بِٱلْءَاخِرَةِ
in the Hereafter
waliyarḍawhu
وَلِيَرْضَوْهُ
and so that they may be pleased with it
waliyaqtarifū
وَلِيَقْتَرِفُوا۟
and so that they may commit
مَا
what
hum
هُم
they
muq'tarifūna
مُّقْتَرِفُونَ
(are) committing

Transliteration:

Wa litasghaaa ilaihi af'idatul lazeena laa yu'minoona bil Aakhirati wa liyardawhu wa liyaqtarifoo maa hum muqtarifoon (QS. al-ʾAnʿām:113)

English / Sahih Translation:

And [it is] so the hearts of those who disbelieve in the Hereafter will incline toward it [i.e., deceptive speech] and that they will be satisfied with it and that they will commit that which they are committing. (QS. Al-An'am, ayah 113)

-and (they seduce one another) in order that the hearts of those who do not believe in the Hereafter may incline to it, and that they may be well pleased with it, and so that they commit what those (seducers) are used to commit.

so that the hearts of those who disbelieve in the Hereafter may be receptive to it, be pleased with it, and be persistent in their evil pursuits.

And the result (of their so doing) is that the hearts of those who do not believe in the Hereafter are inclined to it (- their guile), and they take pleasure therein and they continue committing their (evil) deeds as they are doing.

English Literal

And to incline to it the hearts (minds of) those who do not believe with the end (other life), and to accept/approve88it, and to commit/perpetrate what they are committing/perpetrating.

And in order that the hearts of those who do not believe in the Hereafter may lean towards it and that they may like it, and earn the sins which they are to earn.

And let the heart of those who believe not in the Hereafter listen to it; and let them be well pleased with it; and let them gain what they can gain!

Tafsir jalalayn

And that the hearts of those who do not believe in the Hereafter may incline to it (wa-li-tasgh is a supplement to [the above] ghurran, `in delusion'), that is, [to] that fine [speech], and that they may be pleased with it, and that they may acquire, earn, what they are acquiring, of sins, and be punished for it.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

وَلِتَصْغَى إِلَيْهِ

And Tasgha to it.

According to Ibn Abbas,

means, "incline to it."

أَفْيِدَةُ الَّذِينَ لَا يُوْمِنُونَ بِالاخِرَةِ

the hearts of those who do not believe in the Hereafter...

their hearts, mind and hearing.

As-Suddi said that;

this Ayah refers to the hearts of the disbelievers.

وَلِيَرْضَوْهُ

And that they may remain pleased with it.

they like and adore it. Only those who disbelieve in the Hereafter accept this evil speech, being enemies of the Prophets, etc., just as Allah said in other Ayat,

فَإِنَّكُمْ وَمَا تَعْبُدُونَ

مَأ أَنتُمْ عَلَيْهِ بِفَـتِنِينَ

إِلاَّ مَنْ هُوَ صَالِ الْجَحِيمِ

So, verily, you (pagans) and those whom you worship (idols). Cannot lead astray. Except those who are predestined to burn in Hell! (37;161-163)

and,

إِنَّكُمْ لَفِى قَوْلٍ مُّخْتَلِفٍ

يُوْفَكُ عَنْهُ مَنْ أُفِكَ

Certainly, you have different ideas. Turned aside therefrom is he who is turned aside. (51;8-9)

Allah said;

وَلِيَقْتَرِفُواْ مَا هُم مُّقْتَرِفُونَ



And that they may commit what they are committing.

According to Ali bin Abi Talhah who reported from Ibn Abbas that;

meaning, "let them earn whatever they will earn,"

As-Suddi and Ibn Zayd also commented,

"Let them do whatever they will do.
