Surah Al-An'am - Page: 8

(The Cattle)

71

قُلْ اَنَدْعُوْا مِنْ دُوْنِ اللّٰهِ مَا لَا يَنْفَعُنَا وَلَا يَضُرُّنَا وَنُرَدُّ عَلٰٓى اَعْقَابِنَا بَعْدَ اِذْ هَدٰىنَا اللّٰهُ كَالَّذِى اسْتَهْوَتْهُ الشَّيٰطِيْنُ فِى الْاَرْضِ حَيْرَانَ لَهٗٓ اَصْحٰبٌ يَّدْعُوْنَهٗٓ اِلَى الْهُدَى ائْتِنَا ۗ قُلْ اِنَّ هُدَى اللّٰهِ هُوَ الْهُدٰىۗ وَاُمِرْنَا لِنُسْلِمَ لِرَبِّ الْعٰلَمِيْنَۙ ٧١

qul
قُلْ
Say
anadʿū
أَنَدْعُوا۟
"Shall we call
min
مِن
from
dūni
دُونِ
besides
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
مَا
what
لَا
not
yanfaʿunā
يَنفَعُنَا
benefits us
walā
وَلَا
and not
yaḍurrunā
يَضُرُّنَا
harms us
wanuraddu
وَنُرَدُّ
and we turn back
ʿalā
عَلَىٰٓ
on
aʿqābinā
أَعْقَابِنَا
our heels
baʿda
بَعْدَ
after
idh
إِذْ
[when]
hadānā
هَدَىٰنَا
(has) guided us?
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah?
ka-alladhī
كَٱلَّذِى
Like the one
is'tahwathu
ٱسْتَهْوَتْهُ
whom (has been) enticed
l-shayāṭīnu
ٱلشَّيَٰطِينُ
(by) the Shaitaan
فِى
in
l-arḍi
ٱلْأَرْضِ
the earth
ḥayrāna
حَيْرَانَ
confused
lahu
لَهُۥٓ
he has
aṣḥābun
أَصْحَٰبٌ
companions
yadʿūnahu
يَدْعُونَهُۥٓ
who call him
ilā
إِلَى
towards
l-hudā
ٱلْهُدَى
the guidance
i'tinā
ٱئْتِنَاۗ
Come to us
qul
قُلْ
Say
inna
إِنَّ
"Indeed
hudā
هُدَى
(the) Guidance
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
huwa
هُوَ
it
l-hudā
ٱلْهُدَىٰۖ
(is) the Guidance
wa-umir'nā
وَأُمِرْنَا
and we have been commanded
linus'lima
لِنُسْلِمَ
that we submit
lirabbi
لِرَبِّ
to (the) Lord
l-ʿālamīna
ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ
(of) the worlds
Say, "Shall we invoke instead of Allah that which neither benefits us nor harms us and be turned back on our heels after Allah has guided us? [We would then be] like one whom the devils enticed [to wander] upon the earth confused, [while] he has companions inviting him to guidance, [calling], 'Come to us.'" Say, "Indeed, the guidance of Allah is the [only] guidance; and we have been commanded to submit to the Lord of the worlds. (QS. [6] Al-An'am: 71)
Tafsir
72

وَاَنْ اَقِيْمُوا الصَّلٰوةَ وَاتَّقُوْهُۗ وَهُوَ الَّذِيْٓ اِلَيْهِ تُحْشَرُوْنَ ٧٢

wa-an
وَأَنْ
And to
aqīmū
أَقِيمُوا۟
establish
l-ṣalata
ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ
the prayer
wa-ittaqūhu
وَٱتَّقُوهُۚ
and fear Him
wahuwa
وَهُوَ
And He
alladhī
ٱلَّذِىٓ
(is) the One
ilayhi
إِلَيْهِ
to Him
tuḥ'sharūna
تُحْشَرُونَ
you will be gathered"
And to establish prayer and fear Him." And it is He to whom you will be gathered. (QS. [6] Al-An'am: 72)
Tafsir
73

وَهُوَ الَّذِيْ خَلَقَ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضَ بِالْحَقِّۗ وَيَوْمَ يَقُوْلُ كُنْ فَيَكُوْنُۚ قَوْلُهُ الْحَقُّۗ وَلَهُ الْمُلْكُ يَوْمَ يُنْفَخُ فِى الصُّوْرِۗ عٰلِمُ الْغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَادَةِ وَهُوَ الْحَكِيْمُ الْخَبِيْرُ ٧٣

wahuwa
وَهُوَ
And (it is) He
alladhī
ٱلَّذِى
Who
khalaqa
خَلَقَ
created
l-samāwāti
ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ
the heavens
wal-arḍa
وَٱلْأَرْضَ
and the earth
bil-ḥaqi
بِٱلْحَقِّۖ
in truth
wayawma
وَيَوْمَ
And (the) Day
yaqūlu
يَقُولُ
He says
kun
كُن
"Be"
fayakūnu
فَيَكُونُۚ
and it is
qawluhu
قَوْلُهُ
His word
l-ḥaqu
ٱلْحَقُّۚ
(is) the truth
walahu
وَلَهُ
And for Him
l-mul'ku
ٱلْمُلْكُ
(is) the Dominion
yawma
يَوْمَ
(on the) Day
yunfakhu
يُنفَخُ
will be blown
فِى
in
l-ṣūri
ٱلصُّورِۚ
the trumpet
ʿālimu
عَٰلِمُ
(He is) All-Knower
l-ghaybi
ٱلْغَيْبِ
(of) the unseen
wal-shahādati
وَٱلشَّهَٰدَةِۚ
and the seen
wahuwa
وَهُوَ
And He
l-ḥakīmu
ٱلْحَكِيمُ
(is) the All-Wise
l-khabīru
ٱلْخَبِيرُ
the All-Aware
And it is He who created the heavens and earth in truth. And the day [i.e., whenever] He says, "Be," and it is, His word is the truth. And His is the dominion [on] the Day the Horn is blown. [He is] Knower of the unseen and the witnessed; and He is the Wise, the Aware. (QS. [6] Al-An'am: 73)
Tafsir
74

۞ وَاِذْ قَالَ اِبْرٰهِيْمُ لِاَبِيْهِ اٰزَرَ اَتَتَّخِذُ اَصْنَامًا اٰلِهَةً ۚاِنِّيْٓ اَرٰىكَ وَقَوْمَكَ فِيْ ضَلٰلٍ مُّبِيْنٍ ٧٤

wa-idh
وَإِذْ
And when
qāla
قَالَ
said
ib'rāhīmu
إِبْرَٰهِيمُ
Ibrahim
li-abīhi
لِأَبِيهِ
to his father
āzara
ءَازَرَ
Aazar
atattakhidhu
أَتَتَّخِذُ
"Do you take
aṣnāman
أَصْنَامًا
idols
ālihatan
ءَالِهَةًۖ
(as) gods?
innī
إِنِّىٓ
Indeed I
arāka
أَرَىٰكَ
[I] see you
waqawmaka
وَقَوْمَكَ
and your people
فِى
in
ḍalālin
ضَلَٰلٍ
error
mubīnin
مُّبِينٍ
manifest"
And [mention, O Muhammad], when Abraham said to his father Azar, "Do you take idols as deities? Indeed, I see you and your people to be in manifest error." (QS. [6] Al-An'am: 74)
Tafsir
75

وَكَذٰلِكَ نُرِيْٓ اِبْرٰهِيْمَ مَلَكُوْتَ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضِ وَلِيَكُوْنَ مِنَ الْمُوْقِنِيْنَ ٧٥

wakadhālika
وَكَذَٰلِكَ
And thus
nurī
نُرِىٓ
We show(ed)
ib'rāhīma
إِبْرَٰهِيمَ
Ibrahim
malakūta
مَلَكُوتَ
the kingdom
l-samāwāti
ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ
(of) the heavens
wal-arḍi
وَٱلْأَرْضِ
and the earth
waliyakūna
وَلِيَكُونَ
so that he would be
mina
مِنَ
among
l-mūqinīna
ٱلْمُوقِنِينَ
the ones who are certain
And thus did We show Abraham the realm of the heavens and the earth that he would be among the certain [in faith]. (QS. [6] Al-An'am: 75)
Tafsir
76

فَلَمَّا جَنَّ عَلَيْهِ الَّيْلُ رَاٰ كَوْكَبًا ۗقَالَ هٰذَا رَبِّيْۚ فَلَمَّآ اَفَلَ قَالَ لَآ اُحِبُّ الْاٰفِلِيْنَ ٧٦

falammā
فَلَمَّا
So when
janna
جَنَّ
covered
ʿalayhi
عَلَيْهِ
over him
al-laylu
ٱلَّيْلُ
the night
raā
رَءَا
he saw
kawkaban
كَوْكَبًاۖ
a star
qāla
قَالَ
He said
hādhā
هَٰذَا
"This
rabbī
رَبِّىۖ
(is) my Lord"
falammā
فَلَمَّآ
But when
afala
أَفَلَ
it set
qāla
قَالَ
he said
لَآ
"Not
uḥibbu
أُحِبُّ
"(do) I like
l-āfilīna
ٱلْءَافِلِينَ
the ones that set"
So when the night covered him [with darkness], he saw a star. He said, "This is my lord." But when it set, he said, "I like not those that set [i.e., disappear]." (QS. [6] Al-An'am: 76)
Tafsir
77

فَلَمَّا رَاَ الْقَمَرَ بَازِغًا قَالَ هٰذَا رَبِّيْ ۚفَلَمَّآ اَفَلَ قَالَ لَىِٕنْ لَّمْ يَهْدِنِيْ رَبِّيْ لَاَكُوْنَنَّ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ الضَّاۤلِّيْنَ ٧٧

falammā
فَلَمَّا
When
raā
رَءَا
he saw
l-qamara
ٱلْقَمَرَ
the moon
bāzighan
بَازِغًا
rising
qāla
قَالَ
he said
hādhā
هَٰذَا
"This
rabbī
رَبِّىۖ
(is) my Lord"
falammā
فَلَمَّآ
But when
afala
أَفَلَ
it set
qāla
قَالَ
he said
la-in
لَئِن
"If
lam
لَّمْ
(does) not
yahdinī
يَهْدِنِى
guide me
rabbī
رَبِّى
my Lord
la-akūnanna
لَأَكُونَنَّ
I will surely be
mina
مِنَ
among
l-qawmi
ٱلْقَوْمِ
the people
l-ḍālīna
ٱلضَّآلِّينَ
who went astray"
And when he saw the moon rising, he said, "This is my lord." But when it set, he said, "Unless my Lord guides me, I will surely be among the people gone astray." (QS. [6] Al-An'am: 77)
Tafsir
78

فَلَمَّا رَاَ الشَّمْسَ بَازِغَةً قَالَ هٰذَا رَبِّيْ هٰذَآ اَكْبَرُۚ فَلَمَّآ اَفَلَتْ قَالَ يٰقَوْمِ اِنِّيْ بَرِيْۤءٌ مِّمَّا تُشْرِكُوْنَ ٧٨

falammā
فَلَمَّا
When
raā
رَءَا
he saw
l-shamsa
ٱلشَّمْسَ
the sun
bāzighatan
بَازِغَةً
rising
qāla
قَالَ
he said
hādhā
هَٰذَا
"This (is)
rabbī
رَبِّى
my Lord
hādhā
هَٰذَآ
this (is)
akbaru
أَكْبَرُۖ
greater"
falammā
فَلَمَّآ
But when
afalat
أَفَلَتْ
it set
qāla
قَالَ
he said
yāqawmi
يَٰقَوْمِ
"O my people!
innī
إِنِّى
Indeed I am
barīon
بَرِىٓءٌ
free
mimmā
مِّمَّا
of what
tush'rikūna
تُشْرِكُونَ
you associate (with Allah)"
And when he saw the sun rising, he said, "This is my lord; this is greater." But when it set, he said, "O my people, indeed I am free from what you associate with Allah. (QS. [6] Al-An'am: 78)
Tafsir
79

اِنِّيْ وَجَّهْتُ وَجْهِيَ لِلَّذِيْ فَطَرَ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضَ حَنِيْفًا وَّمَآ اَنَا۠ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِيْنَۚ ٧٩

innī
إِنِّى
Indeed I
wajjahtu
وَجَّهْتُ
[I] have turned
wajhiya
وَجْهِىَ
my face
lilladhī
لِلَّذِى
to the One Who
faṭara
فَطَرَ
created
l-samāwāti
ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ
the heavens
wal-arḍa
وَٱلْأَرْضَ
and the earth
ḥanīfan
حَنِيفًاۖ
(as) a true monotheist
wamā
وَمَآ
and not
anā
أَنَا۠
I (am)
mina
مِنَ
of
l-mush'rikīna
ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ
the polytheists
Indeed, I have turned my face [i.e., self] toward He who created the heavens and the earth, inclining toward truth, and I am not of those who associate others with Allah." (QS. [6] Al-An'am: 79)
Tafsir
80

وَحَاۤجَّهٗ قَوْمُهٗ ۗقَالَ اَتُحَاۤجُّوْۤنِّيْ فِى اللّٰهِ وَقَدْ هَدٰىنِۗ وَلَآ اَخَافُ مَا تُشْرِكُوْنَ بِهٖٓ اِلَّآ اَنْ يَّشَاۤءَ رَبِّيْ شَيْـًٔا ۗوَسِعَ رَبِّيْ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ عِلْمًا ۗ اَفَلَا تَتَذَكَّرُوْنَ ٨٠

waḥājjahu
وَحَآجَّهُۥ
And argued with him
qawmuhu
قَوْمُهُۥۚ
his people
qāla
قَالَ
He said
atuḥājjūnnī
أَتُحَٰٓجُّوٓنِّى
"Do you argue with me
فِى
concerning
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
waqad
وَقَدْ
while certainly
hadāni
هَدَىٰنِۚ
He has guided me?
walā
وَلَآ
And not
akhāfu
أَخَافُ
(do) I fear
مَا
what
tush'rikūna
تُشْرِكُونَ
you associate
bihi
بِهِۦٓ
with Him
illā
إِلَّآ
unless
an
أَن
[that]
yashāa
يَشَآءَ
wills
rabbī
رَبِّى
my Lord
shayan
شَيْـًٔاۗ
anything
wasiʿa
وَسِعَ
Encompasses
rabbī
رَبِّى
my Lord
kulla
كُلَّ
every
shayin
شَىْءٍ
thing
ʿil'man
عِلْمًاۗ
(in) knowledge
afalā
أَفَلَا
Then will not
tatadhakkarūna
تَتَذَكَّرُونَ
you take heed?
And his people argued with him. He said, "Do you argue with me concerning Allah while He has guided me? And I fear not what you associate with Him [and will not be harmed] unless my Lord should will something. My Lord encompasses all things in knowledge; then will you not remember? (QS. [6] Al-An'am: 80)
Tafsir
