Surah Al-An'am - Page: 12

(The Cattle)

111

۞ وَلَوْ اَنَّنَا نَزَّلْنَآ اِلَيْهِمُ الْمَلٰۤىِٕكَةَ وَكَلَّمَهُمُ الْمَوْتٰى وَحَشَرْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ قُبُلًا مَّا كَانُوْا لِيُؤْمِنُوْٓا اِلَّآ اَنْ يَّشَاۤءَ اللّٰهُ وَلٰكِنَّ اَكْثَرَهُمْ يَجْهَلُوْنَ ١١١

walaw
وَلَوْ
And (even) if
annanā
أَنَّنَا
[that] We (had)
nazzalnā
نَزَّلْنَآ
[We] sent down
ilayhimu
إِلَيْهِمُ
to them
l-malāikata
ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةَ
the Angels
wakallamahumu
وَكَلَّمَهُمُ
and spoken to them
l-mawtā
ٱلْمَوْتَىٰ
the dead
waḥasharnā
وَحَشَرْنَا
and We gathered
ʿalayhim
عَلَيْهِمْ
before them
kulla
كُلَّ
every
shayin
شَىْءٍ
thing
qubulan
قُبُلًا
face to face
مَّا
not
kānū
كَانُوا۟
they were
liyu'minū
لِيُؤْمِنُوٓا۟
to believe
illā
إِلَّآ
unless
an
أَن
[that]
yashāa
يَشَآءَ
wills
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
walākinna
وَلَٰكِنَّ
But
aktharahum
أَكْثَرَهُمْ
most of them
yajhalūna
يَجْهَلُونَ
(are) ignorant
And even if We had sent down to them the angels [with the message] and the dead spoke to them [of it] and We gathered together every [created] thing in front of them, they would not believe unless Allah should will. But most of them, [of that], are ignorant. (QS. [6] Al-An'am: 111)
Tafsir
112

وَكَذٰلِكَ جَعَلْنَا لِكُلِّ نَبِيٍّ عَدُوًّا شَيٰطِيْنَ الْاِنْسِ وَالْجِنِّ يُوْحِيْ بَعْضُهُمْ اِلٰى بَعْضٍ زُخْرُفَ الْقَوْلِ غُرُوْرًا ۗوَلَوْ شَاۤءَ رَبُّكَ مَا فَعَلُوْهُ فَذَرْهُمْ وَمَا يَفْتَرُوْنَ ١١٢

wakadhālika
وَكَذَٰلِكَ
And thus
jaʿalnā
جَعَلْنَا
We made
likulli
لِكُلِّ
for every
nabiyyin
نَبِىٍّ
Prophet
ʿaduwwan
عَدُوًّا
an enemy
shayāṭīna
شَيَٰطِينَ
devils
l-insi
ٱلْإِنسِ
(from) the mankind
wal-jini
وَٱلْجِنِّ
and the jinn
yūḥī
يُوحِى
inspiring
baʿḍuhum
بَعْضُهُمْ
some of them
ilā
إِلَىٰ
to
baʿḍin
بَعْضٍ
others
zukh'rufa
زُخْرُفَ
(with) decorative
l-qawli
ٱلْقَوْلِ
[the] speech
ghurūran
غُرُورًاۚ
(in) deception
walaw
وَلَوْ
But if
shāa
شَآءَ
(had) willed
rabbuka
رَبُّكَ
your Lord
مَا
not
faʿalūhu
فَعَلُوهُۖ
they (would) have done it
fadharhum
فَذَرْهُمْ
so leave them
wamā
وَمَا
and what
yaftarūna
يَفْتَرُونَ
they invent
And thus We have made for every prophet an enemy – devils from mankind and jinn, inspiring to one another decorative speech in delusion. But if your Lord had willed, they would not have done it, so leave them and that which they invent. (QS. [6] Al-An'am: 112)
Tafsir
113

وَلِتَصْغٰٓى اِلَيْهِ اَفْـِٕدَةُ الَّذِيْنَ لَا يُؤْمِنُوْنَ بِالْاٰخِرَةِ وَلِيَرْضَوْهُ وَلِيَقْتَرِفُوْا مَا هُمْ مُّقْتَرِفُوْنَ ١١٣

walitaṣghā
وَلِتَصْغَىٰٓ
And so that incline
ilayhi
إِلَيْهِ
to it
afidatu
أَفْـِٔدَةُ
hearts
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
(of) those who
لَا
(do) not
yu'minūna
يُؤْمِنُونَ
believe
bil-ākhirati
بِٱلْءَاخِرَةِ
in the Hereafter
waliyarḍawhu
وَلِيَرْضَوْهُ
and so that they may be pleased with it
waliyaqtarifū
وَلِيَقْتَرِفُوا۟
and so that they may commit
مَا
what
hum
هُم
they
muq'tarifūna
مُّقْتَرِفُونَ
(are) committing
And [it is] so the hearts of those who disbelieve in the Hereafter will incline toward it [i.e., deceptive speech] and that they will be satisfied with it and that they will commit that which they are committing. (QS. [6] Al-An'am: 113)
Tafsir
114

اَفَغَيْرَ اللّٰهِ اَبْتَغِيْ حَكَمًا وَّهُوَ الَّذِيْٓ اَنْزَلَ اِلَيْكُمُ الْكِتٰبَ مُفَصَّلًا ۗوَالَّذِيْنَ اٰتَيْنٰهُمُ الْكِتٰبَ يَعْلَمُوْنَ اَنَّهٗ مُنَزَّلٌ مِّنْ رَّبِّكَ بِالْحَقِّ فَلَا تَكُوْنَنَّ مِنَ الْمُمْتَرِيْنَ ١١٤

afaghayra
أَفَغَيْرَ
"Then is (it) other than
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
abtaghī
أَبْتَغِى
I seek
ḥakaman
حَكَمًا
(as) judge
wahuwa
وَهُوَ
while He
alladhī
ٱلَّذِىٓ
(is) the One Who
anzala
أَنزَلَ
has revealed
ilaykumu
إِلَيْكُمُ
to you
l-kitāba
ٱلْكِتَٰبَ
the Book
mufaṣṣalan
مُفَصَّلًاۚ
explained in detail?"
wa-alladhīna
وَٱلَّذِينَ
And those (to) whom
ātaynāhumu
ءَاتَيْنَٰهُمُ
We gave them
l-kitāba
ٱلْكِتَٰبَ
the Book
yaʿlamūna
يَعْلَمُونَ
they know
annahu
أَنَّهُۥ
that it
munazzalun
مُنَزَّلٌ
(is) sent down
min
مِّن
from
rabbika
رَّبِّكَ
your Lord
bil-ḥaqi
بِٱلْحَقِّۖ
in truth
falā
فَلَا
so (do) not
takūnanna
تَكُونَنَّ
be
mina
مِنَ
among
l-mum'tarīna
ٱلْمُمْتَرِينَ
the ones who doubt
[Say], "Then is it other than Allah I should seek as judge while it is He who has revealed to you the Book [i.e., the Quran] explained in detail?" And those to whom We [previously] gave the Scripture know that it is sent down from your Lord in truth, so never be among the doubters. (QS. [6] Al-An'am: 114)
Tafsir
115

وَتَمَّتْ كَلِمَتُ رَبِّكَ صِدْقًا وَّعَدْلًاۗ لَا مُبَدِّلَ لِكَلِمٰتِهٖ ۚوَهُوَ السَّمِيْعُ الْعَلِيْمُ ١١٥

watammat
وَتَمَّتْ
And (has been) fulfilled
kalimatu
كَلِمَتُ
(the) word
rabbika
رَبِّكَ
(of) your Lord
ṣid'qan
صِدْقًا
(in) truth
waʿadlan
وَعَدْلًاۚ
and justice
لَّا
No
mubaddila
مُبَدِّلَ
one can change
likalimātihi
لِكَلِمَٰتِهِۦۚ
His words
wahuwa
وَهُوَ
and He
l-samīʿu
ٱلسَّمِيعُ
(is) the All-Hearer
l-ʿalīmu
ٱلْعَلِيمُ
the All-Knower
And the word of your Lord has been fulfilled in truth and in justice. None can alter His words, and He is the Hearing, the Knowing. (QS. [6] Al-An'am: 115)
Tafsir
116

وَاِنْ تُطِعْ اَكْثَرَ مَنْ فِى الْاَرْضِ يُضِلُّوْكَ عَنْ سَبِيْلِ اللّٰهِ ۗاِنْ يَّتَّبِعُوْنَ اِلَّا الظَّنَّ وَاِنْ هُمْ اِلَّا يَخْرُصُوْنَ ١١٦

wa-in
وَإِن
And if
tuṭiʿ
تُطِعْ
you obey
akthara
أَكْثَرَ
most
man
مَن
of
فِى
(those) in
l-arḍi
ٱلْأَرْضِ
the earth
yuḍillūka
يُضِلُّوكَ
they will mislead you
ʿan
عَن
from
sabīli
سَبِيلِ
(the) way
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِۚ
(of) Allah
in
إِن
Not
yattabiʿūna
يَتَّبِعُونَ
they follow
illā
إِلَّا
except
l-ẓana
ٱلظَّنَّ
[the] assumption
wa-in
وَإِنْ
and not
hum
هُمْ
they (do)
illā
إِلَّا
except
yakhruṣūna
يَخْرُصُونَ
guess
And if you obey most of those upon the earth, they will mislead you from the way of Allah. They follow not except assumption, and they are not but misjudging. (QS. [6] Al-An'am: 116)
Tafsir
117

اِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ اَعْلَمُ مَنْ يَّضِلُّ عَنْ سَبِيْلِهٖۚ وَهُوَ اَعْلَمُ بِالْمُهْتَدِيْنَ ١١٧

inna
إِنَّ
Indeed
rabbaka
رَبَّكَ
your Lord
huwa
هُوَ
He
aʿlamu
أَعْلَمُ
knows best
man
مَن
who
yaḍillu
يَضِلُّ
strays
ʿan
عَن
from
sabīlihi
سَبِيلِهِۦۖ
His way
wahuwa
وَهُوَ
and He
aʿlamu
أَعْلَمُ
(is) most knowing
bil-muh'tadīna
بِٱلْمُهْتَدِينَ
of the guided-ones
Indeed, your Lord is most knowing of who strays from His way, and He is most knowing of the [rightly] guided. (QS. [6] Al-An'am: 117)
Tafsir
118

فَكُلُوْا مِمَّا ذُكِرَ اسْمُ اللّٰهِ عَلَيْهِ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ بِاٰيٰتِهٖ مُؤْمِنِيْنَ ١١٨

fakulū
فَكُلُوا۟
So eat
mimmā
مِمَّا
of what
dhukira
ذُكِرَ
(is) mentioned
us'mu
ٱسْمُ
(the) name
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
ʿalayhi
عَلَيْهِ
on it
in
إِن
if
kuntum
كُنتُم
you are
biāyātihi
بِـَٔايَٰتِهِۦ
in His Verses -
mu'minīna
مُؤْمِنِينَ
believers
So eat of that [meat] upon which the name of Allah has been mentioned, if you are believers in His verses [i.e., revealed law]. (QS. [6] Al-An'am: 118)
Tafsir
119

وَمَا لَكُمْ اَلَّا تَأْكُلُوْا مِمَّا ذُكِرَ اسْمُ اللّٰهِ عَلَيْهِ وَقَدْ فَصَّلَ لَكُمْ مَّا حَرَّمَ عَلَيْكُمْ اِلَّا مَا اضْطُرِرْتُمْ اِلَيْهِ ۗوَاِنَّ كَثِيرًا لَّيُضِلُّوْنَ بِاَهْوَاۤىِٕهِمْ بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ ۗاِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ اَعْلَمُ بِالْمُعْتَدِيْنَ ١١٩

wamā
وَمَا
And what
lakum
لَكُمْ
for you
allā
أَلَّا
that not
takulū
تَأْكُلُوا۟
you eat
mimmā
مِمَّا
of what
dhukira
ذُكِرَ
has been mentioned
us'mu
ٱسْمُ
(the) name
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
ʿalayhi
عَلَيْهِ
on it
waqad
وَقَدْ
when indeed
faṣṣala
فَصَّلَ
He (has) explained in detail
lakum
لَكُم
to you
مَّا
what
ḥarrama
حَرَّمَ
He (has) forbidden
ʿalaykum
عَلَيْكُمْ
to you
illā
إِلَّا
except
مَا
what
uḍ'ṭurir'tum
ٱضْطُرِرْتُمْ
you are compelled
ilayhi
إِلَيْهِۗ
to it
wa-inna
وَإِنَّ
And indeed
kathīran
كَثِيرًا
many
layuḍillūna
لَّيُضِلُّونَ
surely lead astray
bi-ahwāihim
بِأَهْوَآئِهِم
by their (vain) desires
bighayri
بِغَيْرِ
without
ʿil'min
عِلْمٍۗ
knowledge
inna
إِنَّ
Indeed
rabbaka
رَبَّكَ
your Lord
huwa
هُوَ
He
aʿlamu
أَعْلَمُ
(is) most knowing
bil-muʿ'tadīna
بِٱلْمُعْتَدِينَ
of the transgressors
And why should you not eat of that upon which the name of Allah has been mentioned while He has explained in detail to you what He has forbidden you, excepting that to which you are compelled. And indeed do many lead [others] astray through their [own] inclinations without knowledge. Indeed, your Lord – He is most knowing of the transgressors. (QS. [6] Al-An'am: 119)
Tafsir
120

وَذَرُوْا ظَاهِرَ الْاِثْمِ وَبَاطِنَهٗ ۗاِنَّ الَّذِيْنَ يَكْسِبُوْنَ الْاِثْمَ سَيُجْزَوْنَ بِمَا كَانُوْا يَقْتَرِفُوْنَ ١٢٠

wadharū
وَذَرُوا۟
Forsake
ẓāhira
ظَٰهِرَ
open
l-ith'mi
ٱلْإِثْمِ
[the] sins
wabāṭinahu
وَبَاطِنَهُۥٓۚ
and the secret
inna
إِنَّ
Indeed
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
yaksibūna
يَكْسِبُونَ
earn
l-ith'ma
ٱلْإِثْمَ
[the] sin
sayuj'zawna
سَيُجْزَوْنَ
they will be recompensed
bimā
بِمَا
for what
kānū
كَانُوا۟
they used to
yaqtarifūna
يَقْتَرِفُونَ
commit
And leave [i.e., desist from] what is apparent of sin and what is concealed thereof. Indeed, those who earn [blame for] sin will be recompensed for that which they used to commit. (QS. [6] Al-An'am: 120)
