Al-Hadid [57]: 24 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

ۨالَّذِيْنَ يَبْخَلُوْنَ وَيَأْمُرُوْنَ النَّاسَ بِالْبُخْلِ ۗوَمَنْ يَّتَوَلَّ فَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ هُوَ الْغَنِيُّ الْحَمِيْدُ (الحديد : ٥٧)

alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
Those who
yabkhalūna
يَبْخَلُونَ
are stingy
wayamurūna
وَيَأْمُرُونَ
and enjoin
l-nāsa
ٱلنَّاسَ
(on) the people
bil-bukh'li
بِٱلْبُخْلِۗ
stinginess
waman
وَمَن
And whoever
yatawalla
يَتَوَلَّ
turns away
fa-inna
فَإِنَّ
then indeed
l-laha
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
huwa
هُوَ
He
l-ghaniyu
ٱلْغَنِىُّ
(is) Free of need
l-ḥamīdu
ٱلْحَمِيدُ
the Praiseworthy

Transliteration:

Allazeeena yabkhaloona wa yaamuroonan naasa bil bukhl; wa many yatawalla fa innal laaha Huwal Ghaniyyul Hameed (QS. al-Ḥadīd:24)

English / Sahih Translation:

[Those] who are stingy and enjoin upon people stinginess. And whoever turns away – then indeed, Allah is the Free of need, the Praiseworthy. (QS. Al-Hadid, ayah 24)

Mufti Taqi Usmani

-those who are miserly and bid others to be miserly. And whoever turns away, then Allah is the All-Independent, the Ever-Praised.

Those who act niggardly (in spending of what God has granted them) and urge others to be niggardly: whoever turns away (from carrying out God’s command to spend in His cause and for the needy), then surely God is All-Wealthy and Self-Sufficient (absolutely independent of all His creatures), All-Praiseworthy (as your Lord, Who provides for you and the needs of all other beings).

Amatul Rahman Omar

(Neither has He love for) those who practice niggardliness themselves and (also) enjoin others to be niggardly. He who turns his back (upon His commandments should beware). Verily, Allâh is Self-Sufficient (free from all needs and) Worthy of all praise (in His own right).

English Literal

Those who are being stingy/miser and order/command the people with the stinginess/miserliness, and who turns away, so then God He is the rich, the praiseworthy/commendable.

Those who practice miserliness, and exhort others to miserliness; and whoever turns away, then (know that) Allah is the Independent, the Most Praiseworthy.

nor those who, being miserly themselves, urge others to be miserly. He who turns his back should remember that God alone is self-sufficient and worthy of all praise.

Those who are stingy, and induce people to be stingy. Whoever turns away—God is the Independent, the Praiseworthy.

Tafsir jalalayn

such as are niggardly, in their duties, and bid people to be niggardly, in these [too]; against such there is a severe threat of chastisement. And whoever turns away, from what is his duty, still God, He is indeed (huwa, `He', is a separating pronoun; a variant reading drops it) the Independent, [without need] of anyone other than Him, the Praiser, of His friends.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

الَّذِينَ يَبْخَلُونَ وَيَأْمُرُونَ النَّاسَ بِالْبُخْلِ

Those who are misers and enjoin miserliness upon people.

meaning those who commit evil and encourage people to commit it,

وَمَن يَتَوَلَّ

And whosoever turns away,

from abiding by Allah's commandments and obeying Him,

فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ الْغَنِيُّ الْحَمِيدُ



then Allah is Rich, Worthy of all praise.

As Musa, peace be upon him, said,

إِن تَكْفُرُواْ أَنتُمْ وَمَن فِى الاٌّرْضِ جَمِيعًا فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ لَغَنِىٌّ حَمِيدٌ

If you disbelieve you and all on earth together, then verily, Allah is Rich, Owner of all praise. (14;8
