Al-Qur'an Surah Al-Waqi'ah Verse 81

Al-Waqi'ah [56]: 81 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

اَفَبِهٰذَا الْحَدِيْثِ اَنْتُمْ مُّدْهِنُوْنَ (الواقعة : ٥٦)

afabihādhā
أَفَبِهَٰذَا
Then is it to this
l-ḥadīthi
ٱلْحَدِيثِ
statement
antum
أَنتُم
that you
mud'hinūna
مُّدْهِنُونَ
(are) indifferent?

Transliteration:

Afabihaazal hadeesi antum mudhinoon (QS. al-Wāqiʿah:81)

English / Sahih Translation:

Then is it to this statement that you are indifferent (QS. Al-Waqi'ah, ayah 81)

Is it such a talk that you are Mudhinun,

Al-`Awfi reported from Ibn Abbas that Mudhinun means,

"You do not believe in and deny."

Similar to this was said by Ad-Dahhak, Abu Hazrah and As-Suddi.

Mujahid said,
مُّدْهِنُونَ
(Mudhinun) means

"You want to fill yourselves with and rely upon."

وَتَجْعَلُونَ رِزْقَكُمْ أَنَّكُمْ تُكَذِّبُونَ
