Al-Qur'an Surah Al-Waqi'ah Verse 23

Al-Waqi'ah [56]: 23 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

كَاَمْثَالِ اللُّؤْلُؤِ الْمَكْنُوْنِۚ (الواقعة : ٥٦)

كَأَمْثَٰلِ
Like
l-lu'lu-i
ٱللُّؤْلُؤِ
pearls
l-maknūni
ٱلْمَكْنُونِ
well-protected

Transliteration:

Ka amsaalil lu'lu'il maknoon (QS. al-Wāqiʿah:23)

English / Sahih Translation:

The likenesses of pearls well-protected, (QS. Al-Waqi'ah, ayah 23)

Tafsir jalalayn

resembling hidden, guarded, pearls,

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

Like unto preserved pearls,

indicating that they are just as white and pure fresh pearls.

We mentioned Allah's statement,

كَأَنَّهُنَّ بَيْضٌ مَّكْنُونٌ

As if they were eggs preserved. (37;49), in Surah As-Saffat, and also their description in Surah Ar-Rahman.

This is why Allah said afterwards,

جَزَاء بِمَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ
