وَاَصْحٰبُ الشِّمَالِ ەۙ مَآ اَصْحٰبُ الشِّمَالِۗ ٤١
- wa-aṣḥābu
- وَأَصْحَٰبُ
- And (the) companions
- l-shimāli
- ٱلشِّمَالِ
- (of) the left
- mā
- مَآ
- what
- aṣḥābu
- أَصْحَٰبُ
- (are the) companions
- l-shimāli
- ٱلشِّمَالِ
- (of) the left?
And the companions of the left – what are the companions of the left? (QS. [56] Al-Waqi'ah: 41)Tafsir
42
فِيْ سَمُوْمٍ وَّحَمِيْمٍۙ ٤٢
- fī
- فِى
- In
- samūmin
- سَمُومٍ
- scorching fire
- waḥamīmin
- وَحَمِيمٍ
- and scalding water
[They will be] in scorching fire and scalding water (QS. [56] Al-Waqi'ah: 42)Tafsir
43
وَّظِلٍّ مِّنْ يَّحْمُوْمٍۙ ٤٣
- waẓillin
- وَظِلٍّ
- And a shade
- min
- مِّن
- of
- yaḥmūmin
- يَحْمُومٍ
- black smoke
And a shade of black smoke, (QS. [56] Al-Waqi'ah: 43)Tafsir
44
لَّا بَارِدٍ وَّلَا كَرِيْمٍ ٤٤
- lā
- لَّا
- Not
- bāridin
- بَارِدٍ
- cool
- walā
- وَلَا
- and not
- karīmin
- كَرِيمٍ
- pleasant
Neither cool nor beneficial. (QS. [56] Al-Waqi'ah: 44)Tafsir
45
اِنَّهُمْ كَانُوْا قَبْلَ ذٰلِكَ مُتْرَفِيْنَۚ ٤٥
- innahum
- إِنَّهُمْ
- Indeed they
- kānū
- كَانُوا۟
- were
- qabla
- قَبْلَ
- before
- dhālika
- ذَٰلِكَ
- that
- mut'rafīna
- مُتْرَفِينَ
- indulging in affluence
Indeed they were, before that, indulging in affluence, (QS. [56] Al-Waqi'ah: 45)Tafsir
46
وَكَانُوْا يُصِرُّوْنَ عَلَى الْحِنْثِ الْعَظِيْمِۚ ٤٦
- wakānū
- وَكَانُوا۟
- And were
- yuṣirrūna
- يُصِرُّونَ
- persisting
- ʿalā
- عَلَى
- in
- l-ḥinthi
- ٱلْحِنثِ
- the sin
- l-ʿaẓīmi
- ٱلْعَظِيمِ
- the great
And they used to persist in the great violation, (QS. [56] Al-Waqi'ah: 46)Tafsir
47
وَكَانُوْا يَقُوْلُوْنَ ەۙ اَىِٕذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَّعِظَامًا ءَاِنَّا لَمَبْعُوْثُوْنَۙ ٤٧
- wakānū
- وَكَانُوا۟
- And they used (to)
- yaqūlūna
- يَقُولُونَ
- say
- a-idhā
- أَئِذَا
- "When
- mit'nā
- مِتْنَا
- we die
- wakunnā
- وَكُنَّا
- and become
- turāban
- تُرَابًا
- dust
- waʿiẓāman
- وَعِظَٰمًا
- and bones
- a-innā
- أَءِنَّا
- will we
- lamabʿūthūna
- لَمَبْعُوثُونَ
- surely be resurrected?
And they used to say, "When we die and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected? (QS. [56] Al-Waqi'ah: 47)Tafsir
48
اَوَاٰبَاۤؤُنَا الْاَوَّلُوْنَ ٤٨
- awaābāunā
- أَوَءَابَآؤُنَا
- And also
- l-awalūna
- ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ
- our forefathers?
And our forefathers [as well]?" (QS. [56] Al-Waqi'ah: 48)Tafsir
49
قُلْ اِنَّ الْاَوَّلِيْنَ وَالْاٰخِرِيْنَۙ ٤٩
- qul
- قُلْ
- Say
- inna
- إِنَّ
- "Indeed
- l-awalīna
- ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
- the former
- wal-ākhirīna
- وَٱلْءَاخِرِينَ
- and the later people
Say, [O Muhammad], "Indeed, the former and later peoples (QS. [56] Al-Waqi'ah: 49)Tafsir
50
لَمَجْمُوْعُوْنَۙ اِلٰى مِيْقَاتِ يَوْمٍ مَّعْلُوْمٍ ٥٠
- lamajmūʿūna
- لَمَجْمُوعُونَ
- Surely will be gathered
- ilā
- إِلَىٰ
- for
- mīqāti
- مِيقَٰتِ
- (the) appointment
- yawmin
- يَوْمٍ
- (of) a Day
- maʿlūmin
- مَّعْلُومٍ
- well-known"
Are to be gathered together for the appointment of a known Day." (QS. [56] Al-Waqi'ah: 50)Tafsir
