Al-Qur'an Surah Al-Qamar Verse 3

Al-Qamar [54]: 3 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

وَكَذَّبُوْا وَاتَّبَعُوْٓا اَهْوَاۤءَهُمْ وَكُلُّ اَمْرٍ مُّسْتَقِرٌّ (القمر : ٥٤)

wakadhabū
وَكَذَّبُوا۟
And they denied
wa-ittabaʿū
وَٱتَّبَعُوٓا۟
and followed
ahwāahum
أَهْوَآءَهُمْۚ
their desires
wakullu
وَكُلُّ
but (for) every
amrin
أَمْرٍ
matter
mus'taqirrun
مُّسْتَقِرٌّ
(will be a) settlement

Transliteration:

Wa kazzaboo wattaba'ooo ahwaaa'ahum; wa kullu amrim mustaqirr (QS. al-Q̈amar:3)

English / Sahih Translation:

And they denied and followed their inclinations. But for every matter is a [time of] settlement. (QS. Al-Qamar, ayah 3)

They have rejected (the Truth) and followed their desires, while every matter has to settle (at some time).

And they lied/denied , and they followed their self attractions for desires, and each/every matter/affair (is) settled/established .

Tafsir jalalayn

And they denied, the Prophet (s), and followed their own desires, as regards [their] falsehood; and every matter, that is good or evil, will be settled, with that person [who is responsible for it], either [by his ending up] in Paradise or in the Fire.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

وَكَذَّبُوا وَاتَّبَعُوا أَهْوَاءهُمْ

They denied and followed their own lusts.,

they rejected the truth when it came to them, following the ignorance and foolishness that their lusts and desires called them to.

Allah's statement,

وَكُلُّ أَمْرٍ مُّسْتَقِرٌّ



And every matter will be settled.

means, the good deeds will take their doers to all that is good and righteous, and similarly evil deeds will take their doers to all that is evil, according to Qatadah, while Ibn Jurayj said, "will settle according to its people."

Mujahid commented on the meaning of,
وَكُلُّ أَمْرٍ مُّسْتَقِرٌّ
(And every matter will be settled). by saying,

"On the Day of Resurrection."
