Al-Qur'an Surah Al-Qamar Verse 29
Al-Qamar [54]: 29 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer
فَنَادَوْا صَاحِبَهُمْ فَتَعَاطٰى فَعَقَرَ (القمر : ٥٤)
- fanādaw
- فَنَادَوْا۟
- But they called
- ṣāḥibahum
- صَاحِبَهُمْ
- their companion
- fataʿāṭā
- فَتَعَاطَىٰ
- and he took
- faʿaqara
- فَعَقَرَ
- and hamstrung
Transliteration:
Fanaadaw saahibahum fata'aataa fa'aqar(QS. al-Q̈amar:29)
English / Sahih Translation:
But they called their companion, and he dared and hamstrung [her]. (QS. Al-Qamar, ayah 29)

Tafseer Ibn Kathir
But they called their comrade and he took and killed.
According to the Scholars of Tafsir, his name was Qudar bin Salif; he was the evilest among them,
إِذِ انبَعَثَ أَشْقَـهَا
When the most wicked man among them went forth (to kill the she-camel). (91;12)
Allah said here,
فَتَعَاطَى
(and he took), meaning to harm,
فَعَقَرَ
فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ
