Al-Qur'an Surah Al-Qamar Verse 17

Al-Qamar [54]: 17 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا الْقُرْاٰنَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِنْ مُّدَّكِرٍ (القمر : ٥٤)

walaqad
وَلَقَدْ
And certainly
yassarnā
يَسَّرْنَا
We have made easy
l-qur'āna
ٱلْقُرْءَانَ
the Quran
lildhik'ri
لِلذِّكْرِ
for remembrance
fahal
فَهَلْ
so is (there)
min
مِن
any
muddakirin
مُّدَّكِرٍ
who will receive admonition?

Transliteration:

Wa laqad yassamal Quraana liz zikri fahal mimmuddakir (QS. al-Q̈amar:17)

English / Sahih Translation:

And We have certainly made the Quran easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? (QS. Al-Qamar, ayah 17)

Tafsir jalalayn

And verily We have made the Qur'n easy to remember, We have facilitated its memorisation and disposed it to serve as a [source of] remembrance. So is there anyone who remember?, [anyone who] will be admonished by it and memorise it? (the interrogative here is intended as an imperative; in other words, memorise it and be admonished by it; none of God's scriptures is memorised by heart other than it [the Qur'n]).

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا الْقُرْانَ لِلذِّكْرِ

And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember;

meaning, `We have made the Qur'an easy to recite and comprehend for those who seek these traits, to remind mankind,'

as Allah said,

كِتَـبٌ أَنزَلْنَـهُ إِلَيْكَ مُبَـرَكٌ لِّيَدَّبَّرُواْ ءَايَـتِهِ وَلِيَتَذَكَّرَ أُوْلُو الاٌّلْبَـبِ

(This is) a Book which We have sent down to you, full of blessings, that they may ponder over its Ayat, and that men of understanding may remember. (38;29),

فَإِنَّمَا يَسَّرْنَـهُ بِلَسَانِكَ لِتُبَشِّرَ بِهِ الْمُتَّقِينَ وَتُنْذِرَ بِهِ قَوْماً لُّدّاً

So We have made this (the Qur'an) easy in your own tongue, only that you may give glad tidings to those who have Taqwa and warn with it the most quarrelsome people. (19;97)

Allah said,

فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ



then is there any that will remember,

meaning, `is there anyone who will remember through this Qur'an, which We made easy to memorize and easy to understand?'

Muhammad bin Ka`b Al-Qurazi commented on this Ayah,

"Is there anyone who will avoid evil?
