Al-Qur'an Surah Al-Qamar Verse 13
Al-Qamar [54]: 13 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer
وَحَمَلْنٰهُ عَلٰى ذَاتِ اَلْوَاحٍ وَّدُسُرٍۙ (القمر : ٥٤)
- waḥamalnāhu
- وَحَمَلْنَٰهُ
- And We carried him
- ʿalā
- عَلَىٰ
- on
- dhāti
- ذَاتِ
- (ark) made of planks
- alwāḥin
- أَلْوَٰحٍ
- (ark) made of planks
- wadusurin
- وَدُسُرٍ
- and nails
Transliteration:
Wa hamalnaahu 'alaa zaati alwaahinw wa dusur(QS. al-Q̈amar:13)
English / Sahih Translation:
And We carried him on a [construction of] planks and nails, (QS. Al-Qamar, ayah 13)

And We bore him, that is, Noah, on one, a ship, [made] of planks and nails (dusur is what boards are fastened down with of nails and the like; the singular is disr, similar [in pattern] to [kutub] kitb, `book'),
Tafseer Ibn Kathir
And We carried him on a (ship) made of planks and nails (Dusur),
Ibn Abbas, Sa`id bin Jubayr, Al-Qurazi, Qatadah and Ibn Zayd said that Dusur means nails.
Ibn Jarir preferred this view.
