Al-Qur'an Surah An-Najm Verse 31

An-Najm [53]: 31 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

وَلِلّٰهِ مَا فِى السَّمٰوٰتِ وَمَا فِى الْاَرْضِۗ لِيَجْزِيَ الَّذِيْنَ اَسَاۤءُوْا بِمَا عَمِلُوْا وَيَجْزِيَ الَّذِيْنَ اَحْسَنُوْا بِالْحُسْنٰىۚ (النجم : ٥٣)

walillahi
وَلِلَّهِ
And for Allah
مَا
(is) whatever
فِى
(is) in
l-samāwāti
ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ
the heavens
wamā
وَمَا
and whatever
فِى
(is) in
l-arḍi
ٱلْأَرْضِ
the earth
liyajziya
لِيَجْزِىَ
that He may recompense
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
asāū
أَسَٰٓـُٔوا۟
do evil
bimā
بِمَا
with what
ʿamilū
عَمِلُوا۟
they have done
wayajziya
وَيَجْزِىَ
and recompense
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
aḥsanū
أَحْسَنُوا۟
do good
bil-ḥus'nā
بِٱلْحُسْنَى
with the best

Transliteration:

Wa lillaahi maa fis samaawaati wa maa fil ardi liyajziyal lazeena asaaa'oo bimaa 'amiloo wa yajziyal lazeena ahsanoo bilhusnaa (QS. an-Najm:31)

English / Sahih Translation:

And to Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth – that He may recompense those who do evil with [the penalty of] what they have done and recompense those who do good with the best [reward] – (QS. An-Najm, ayah 31)

To Allah belongs whatever there is in the heavens and whatever there is in the earth, so that He gives punishment to evildoers for what they did, and gives good reward to those who did good

English Literal

And to God what (is) in the skies/space and what (is) in the earth/Planet Earth, to reimburse those who did bad/evil because (of) what they made/did , and reimburse those who did good with the best/goodness .

Tafsir jalalayn

And to God belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth, that is, He owns [all of] that, among which [also] are the misguided one and the [rightly] guided one, leading astray whomever He will and guiding whomever He will, that He may requite those who do evil for what they have done, by way of idolatry and otherwise, and reward those who are virtuous, by [their] affirmation of [God's] Oneness and other acts of obedience, with the best [reward], namely, Paradise. He points out `the virtuous' as being;

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

Allah knows Every Matter, whether Small or Big, and He rewards Each according to His or Her Deeds

Allah says,

وَلِلَّهِ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الاَْرْضِ

And to Allah belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is on the earth,

Allah asserts that He is the King and Owner of the heavens and earth and that He is independent of the need for anyone. He is the authority over His creation and rules them with justice. He created the creation in truth,

لِيَجْزِيَ الَّذِينَ أَسَاوُوا بِمَا عَمِلُوا وَيَجْزِيَ الَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُوا بِالْحُسْنَى



that He may requite those who do evil with that which they have done, and reward those who do good, with what is best.

He recompenses each according to his or her deeds, good for good and evil for evil.
Qualities of the Good-doers; Allah forgives the Small Faults

Allah stated that the good doers are those who avoid major sins and immoral sins. They sometimes commit minor sins, but they will be forgiven these minor sins and covered from exposure, as Allah mentioned in another Ayah;

إِن تَجْتَنِبُواْ كَبَأيِرَ مَا تُنهَوْنَ عَنْهُ نُكَفِّرْ عَنْكُمْ سَيِّيَـتِكُمْ وَنُدْخِلْكُمْ مُّدْخَلً كَرِيماً

If you avoid the great sins which you are forbidden to do, We shall expiate from you your (small) sins, and admit you to a Noble Entrance. (4;31)

Allah said here
