Al-Qur'an Surah An-Najm Verse 26
An-Najm [53]: 26 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer
وَكَمْ مِّنْ مَّلَكٍ فِى السَّمٰوٰتِ لَا تُغْنِيْ شَفَاعَتُهُمْ شَيْـًٔا اِلَّا مِنْۢ بَعْدِ اَنْ يَّأْذَنَ اللّٰهُ لِمَنْ يَّشَاۤءُ وَيَرْضٰى (النجم : ٥٣)

Transliteration:
Wa kam mim malakin fissamaawaati laa tughnee shafaa'atuhum shai'an illaa mim ba'di anyyaazanal laahu limany yashaaa'u wa yardaa(QS. an-Najm:26)
English / Sahih Translation:
And how many angels there are in the heavens whose intercession will not avail at all except [only] after Allah has permitted [it] to whom He wills and approves. (QS. An-Najm, ayah 26)

How many angels there are in the heavens whose intercession cannot benefit (any one) at all, but after Allah allows (it) for whomsoever He wills and pleases.

Tafsir jalalayn
And how many an angel, that is to say, many an angel, there is in the heavens, and how honoured they are in God's sight [but], whose intercession cannot avail in any way except after God gives permission, to them for this [intercession], for whomever He wills, of His servants, and, with whom, He is satisfied, because of His saying; and they do not intercede except for him with whom He is satisfied [Q. 21;28]. It is also well- known that it [intercession] cannot be forthcoming from them except after permission for it has been granted; who is there that shall intercede with Him save with His leave [Q. 2;255].
Tafseer Ibn Kathir
And there are many angels in the heavens, whose intercession will avail nothing except after Allah has given leave for whom He wills and is pleased with.
As He said;
مَن ذَا الَّذِى يَشْفَعُ عِندَهُ إِلاَّ بِإِذْنِهِ
Who is he that can intercede with Him except with His permission, (2;255)
and,
وَلَا تَنفَعُ الشَّفَـعَةُ عِندَهُ إِلاَّ لِمَنْ أَذِنَ لَهُ
Intercession with Him profits not except for him whom He permits. (34;23)
`If this is the case with the angels who are close to Him, how can you, O ignorant ones, hope for Allah to grant you the intercession of the idols and rivals you worship with Him without having His permission or any divine legislation permitting you to worship them' Rather, Allah has forbidden idol worshipping by the tongues of all of His Messengers and He revealed this prohibition in all of His Books
