Al-Qur'an Surah At-Tur Verse 32
At-Tur [52]: 32 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer
اَمْ تَأْمُرُهُمْ اَحْلَامُهُمْ بِهٰذَآ اَمْ هُمْ قَوْمٌ طَاغُوْنَۚ (الطور : ٥٢)

- بِهَٰذَآۚ

- (are) a people
- ṭāghūna
- طَاغُونَ
- transgressing?
Transliteration:
Am taamuruhum ahlaamuhum bihaazaaa am hum qawmun taaghoon(QS. aṭ-Ṭūr:32)
English / Sahih Translation:
Or do their minds command them to [say] this, or are they a transgressing people? (QS. At-Tur, ayah 32)

Or do their ˹intelligent˺ minds prompt them to this ˹paradox˺?[[ The pagan leaders claimed to be Mecca’s most intelligent minds. So this verse questions their intelligence, arguing that the Prophet (ﷺ) cannot be a madman and a poet at the same time. ]] Or are they ˹just˺ a transgressing people?

Or (am, [in effect] means bal, `rather') are they a rebellious lot?, because of their obstinacy.
Tafseer Ibn Kathir
أَمْ تَأْمُرُهُمْ أَحْلَمُهُم بِهَذَا
Or do their minds command them this,
`do their minds command them to tell these lies against you (O Muhammad), even though they know in their hearts that they are untrue and false,'
أَمْ هُمْ قَوْمٌ طَاغُونَ
or are they people transgressing all bounds?
`surely, they are misguided, stubborn and unjust people, and this is why they say what they say about you (O Muhammad). '
