Al-Qur'an Surah Adh-Dhariyat Verse 43

Adh-Dhariyat [51]: 43 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

وَفِيْ ثَمُوْدَ اِذْ قِيْلَ لَهُمْ تَمَتَّعُوْا حَتّٰى حِيْنٍ (الذاريات : ٥١)

Transliteration:

Wa fee Samooda iz qeela lahum tamatta''oo hattaa heen (QS. aḏ-Ḏāriyāt:43)

English / Sahih Translation:

And in Thamud, when it was said to them, "Enjoy yourselves for a time." (QS. Adh-Dhariyat, ayah 43)

And (a similar sign was left) in (the story of) Thamūd, when it was said to them, “Enjoy yourselves for a while.”

And in ˹the story of˺ Thamûd ˹was another lesson,˺ when they were told, “Enjoy yourselves ˹only˺ for a ˹short˺ while.”[[ Meaning, you have only three days to live. See {11:65}.]]

And in Thamud , when (it) was said to them: "Live long/enjoy until a time/period of time."

And [also] in, the destruction of, Thamd, was a sign, when it was said to them, after the hamstringing of the she-camel, `Enjoy [yourselves] for a while!', until the end of your terms [of life] -- as stated in the [other] verse, `Enjoy [yourselves] in your dwellings for three days' [Q.11;65].

And in Thamud, when they were told;"Enjoy yourselves for a while!"

is just as He said in another Ayah,

وَأَمَّا ثَمُودُ فَهَدَيْنَـهُمْ فَاسْتَحَبُّواْ الْعَمَى عَلَى الْهُدَى فَأَخَذَتْهُمْ صَـعِقَةُ الْعَذَابِ الْهُونِ

And as for Thamud, We guided them to the path of truth, but they preferred blindness to guidance; so the Sa`iqah of disgracing torment seized them. (41;17)

Allah said here,

وَفِي ثَمُودَ إِذْ قِيلَ لَهُمْ تَمَتَّعُوا حَتَّى حِينٍ

فَعَتَوْا عَنْ أَمْرِ رَبِّهِمْ فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ الصَّاعِقَةُ وَهُمْ يَنظُرُونَ
