Al-Qur'an Surah Adh-Dhariyat Verse 28
Adh-Dhariyat [51]: 28 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer
فَاَوْجَسَ مِنْهُمْ خِيْفَةً ۗقَالُوْا لَا تَخَفْۗ وَبَشَّرُوْهُ بِغُلٰمٍ عَلِيْمٍ (الذاريات : ٥١)

- فَأَوْجَسَ
- Then he felt

- خِيفَةًۖ
- a fear
- qālū
- قَالُوا۟
- They said

- "(Do) not

- وَبَشَّرُوهُ
- and they gave him glad tidings
- bighulāmin
- بِغُلَٰمٍ
- of a son
- ʿalīmin
- عَلِيمٍ
- learned
Transliteration:
Fa awjasa minhm khee fatan qaaloo laa takhaf wa bashsharoohu bighulaamin 'aleem(QS. aḏ-Ḏāriyāt:28)
English / Sahih Translation:
And he felt from them apprehension. They said, "Fear not," and gave him good tidings of a learned boy. (QS. Adh-Dhariyat, ayah 28)

So he felt some fear in his heart. They said, “Be not scared.” And they gave him the good news of (the birth of) a knowledgeable boy.

˹They did not eat,˺ so he grew fearful of them.[[ As mentioned in {11:69}-70, the angels came to Abraham in the form of men and when he offered them food, they did not eat. In ancient Middle Eastern culture, if a guest refused to eat the food provided by their host, it was a sign of ill-will.]] They reassured ˹him˺, “Do not be afraid,” and gave him good news of a knowledgeable son.[[ Prophet Isaac (ﷺ).]]

So he felt inner horror/fear from them, they said: "Do not fear." And they announced good news to him with a knowledgeable boy (son) .

Tafsir jalalayn
Then he conceived, he kept secret in himself, a fear of them. They said, `Do not be afraid!', we are messengers from your Lord. And they gave him good tidings of [the birth of] a knowledgeable boy, one endowed with much knowledge, and this was Isaac, as mentioned in srat Hd [Q. 11;71].
Tafseer Ibn Kathir
فَأَوْجَسَ مِنْهُمْ خِيفَةً
Then he conceived fear of them.
this Ayah is explained by Allah's statement,
فَلَمَّا رَأَى أَيْدِيَهُمْ لَا تَصِلُ إِلَيْهِ نَكِرَهُمْ وَأَوْجَسَ مِنْهُمْ خِيفَةً قَالُواْ لَا تَخَفْ إِنَّا أُرْسِلْنَا إِلَى قَوْمِ لُوطٍ
وَامْرَأَتُهُ قَأيِمَةٌ فَضَحِكَتْ
..
But when he saw their hands went not towards it, he mistrusted them, and felt a sense of fear of them. They said;"Fear not, we have been sent against the people of Lut."
And his wife was standing (there), and she laughed (11;70-71),
meaning, she was glad that the people of Lut would be destroyed on account of their rebellion and transgression against Allah, the Exalted. This is when the angels delivered the good news to her of a son, Ishaq, and Ya`qub after Ishaq,
قَالَتْ يَا وَيْلَتَى أَأَلِدُ وَأَنَاْ عَجُوزٌ وَهَـذَا بَعْلِي شَيْخًا إِنَّ هَـذَا لَشَيْءٌ عَجِيبٌ
قَالُواْ أَتَعْجَبِينَ مِنْ أَمْرِ اللّهِ رَحْمَتُ اللّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ عَلَيْكُمْ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ إِنَّهُ حَمِيدٌ مَّجِيدٌ
She said;"Woe unto me! Shall I bear a child while I am an old woman, and here is my husband an old man Verily, this is a strange thing!"
They said, "Do you wonder at the decree of Allah The mercy of Allah and His blessings be on you, O family of the house. Surely, He (Allah) is All-Praiseworthy, All-Glorious." (11;72-73)
قَالُوا لَاا تَخَفْ
They said;"Fear not."
وَبَشَّرُوهُ بِغُلَمٍ عَلِيمٍ
And they gave him glad tidings of a son having knowledge.
This news was as good to Ibrahim as it was to his wife, for this son would be theirs, and therefore, they both were getting some good news.
Allah the Exalted said
