فَبَعَثَ اللّٰهُ غُرَابًا يَّبْحَثُ فِى الْاَرْضِ لِيُرِيَهٗ كَيْفَ يُوَارِيْ سَوْءَةَ اَخِيْهِ ۗ قَالَ يٰوَيْلَتٰٓى اَعَجَزْتُ اَنْ اَكُوْنَ مِثْلَ هٰذَا الْغُرَابِ فَاُوَارِيَ سَوْءَةَ اَخِيْۚ فَاَصْبَحَ مِنَ النّٰدِمِيْنَ ۛ ٣١
- fabaʿatha
- فَبَعَثَ
- Then (was) sent
- l-lahu
- ٱللَّهُ
- (by) Allah
- ghurāban
- غُرَابًا
- a crow
- yabḥathu
- يَبْحَثُ
- it (was) scratching
- fī
- فِى
- in
- l-arḍi
- ٱلْأَرْضِ
- the earth
- liyuriyahu
- لِيُرِيَهُۥ
- to show him
- kayfa
- كَيْفَ
- how
- yuwārī
- يُوَٰرِى
- to hide
- sawata
- سَوْءَةَ
- (the) dead body
- akhīhi
- أَخِيهِۚ
- (of) his brother
- qāla
- قَالَ
- He said
- yāwaylatā
- يَٰوَيْلَتَىٰٓ
- "Woe to me!
- aʿajaztu
- أَعَجَزْتُ
- Am I unable
- an
- أَنْ
- that
- akūna
- أَكُونَ
- I can be
- mith'la
- مِثْلَ
- like
- hādhā
- هَٰذَا
- this
- l-ghurābi
- ٱلْغُرَابِ
- [the] crow
- fa-uwāriya
- فَأُوَٰرِىَ
- and hide
- sawata
- سَوْءَةَ
- (the) dead body
- akhī
- أَخِىۖ
- (of) my brother?"
- fa-aṣbaḥa
- فَأَصْبَحَ
- Then he became
- mina
- مِنَ
- of
- l-nādimīna
- ٱلنَّٰدِمِينَ
- the regretful
Then Allah sent a crow searching [i.e., scratching] in the ground to show him how to hide the disgrace of his brother. He said, "O woe to me! Have I failed to be like this crow and hide the disgrace [i.e., body] of my brother?" And he became of the regretful. (QS. [5] Al-Ma'idah: 31)Tafsir
مِنْ اَجْلِ ذٰلِكَ ۛ كَتَبْنَا عَلٰى بَنِيْٓ اِسْرَاۤءِيْلَ اَنَّهٗ مَنْ قَتَلَ نَفْسًاۢ بِغَيْرِ نَفْسٍ اَوْ فَسَادٍ فِى الْاَرْضِ فَكَاَنَّمَا قَتَلَ النَّاسَ جَمِيْعًاۗ وَمَنْ اَحْيَاهَا فَكَاَنَّمَآ اَحْيَا النَّاسَ جَمِيْعًا ۗوَلَقَدْ جَاۤءَتْهُمْ رُسُلُنَا بِالْبَيِّنٰتِ ثُمَّ اِنَّ كَثِيْرًا مِّنْهُمْ بَعْدَ ذٰلِكَ فِى الْاَرْضِ لَمُسْرِفُوْنَ ٣٢

- إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ
- (of) Israel
- annahu
- أَنَّهُۥ
- that he
- man
- مَن
- who
- qatala
- قَتَلَ
- kills
- nafsan
- نَفْسًۢا
- a person
- bighayri
- بِغَيْرِ
- other than
- nafsin
- نَفْسٍ
- (for) a life
- aw
- أَوْ
- or
- fasādin
- فَسَادٍ
- (for) spreading corruption
- fī
- فِى
- in
- l-arḍi
- ٱلْأَرْضِ
- the earth
- faka-annamā
- فَكَأَنَّمَا
- then (it) is as if
- qatala
- قَتَلَ
- he has killed
- l-nāsa
- ٱلنَّاسَ
- mankind
- jamīʿan
- جَمِيعًا
- all
- waman
- وَمَنْ
- and whoever
- aḥyāhā
- أَحْيَاهَا
- saves it
- faka-annamā
- فَكَأَنَّمَآ
- then (it) is as if
- aḥyā
- أَحْيَا
- he has saved
- l-nāsa
- ٱلنَّاسَ
- mankind
- jamīʿan
- جَمِيعًاۚ
- all
- walaqad
- وَلَقَدْ
- And surely
- jāathum
- جَآءَتْهُمْ
- came to them
- rusulunā
- رُسُلُنَا
- Our Messengers
- bil-bayināti
- بِٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ
- with clear Signs
- thumma
- ثُمَّ
- yet
- inna
- إِنَّ
- indeed
- kathīran
- كَثِيرًا
- many
- min'hum
- مِّنْهُم
- of them
- baʿda
- بَعْدَ
- after
- dhālika
- ذَٰلِكَ
- that
- fī
- فِى
- in
- l-arḍi
- ٱلْأَرْضِ
- the earth
- lamus'rifūna
- لَمُسْرِفُونَ
- (are) surely those who commit excesses
Because of that, We decreed upon the Children of Israel that whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done] in the land – it is as if he had slain mankind entirely. And whoever saves one – it is as if he had saved mankind entirely. And Our messengers had certainly come to them with clear proofs. Then indeed many of them, [even] after that, throughout the land, were transgressors. (QS. [5] Al-Ma'idah: 32)Tafsir
اِنَّمَا جَزٰۤؤُا الَّذِيْنَ يُحَارِبُوْنَ اللّٰهَ وَرَسُوْلَهٗ وَيَسْعَوْنَ فِى الْاَرْضِ فَسَادًا اَنْ يُّقَتَّلُوْٓا اَوْ يُصَلَّبُوْٓا اَوْ تُقَطَّعَ اَيْدِيْهِمْ وَاَرْجُلُهُمْ مِّنْ خِلَافٍ اَوْ يُنْفَوْا مِنَ الْاَرْضِۗ ذٰلِكَ لَهُمْ خِزْيٌ فِى الدُّنْيَا وَلَهُمْ فِى الْاٰخِرَةِ عَذَابٌ عَظِيْمٌ ٣٣
- innamā
- إِنَّمَا
- Only
- jazāu
- جَزَٰٓؤُا۟
- (the) recompense
- alladhīna
- ٱلَّذِينَ
- (for) those who
- yuḥāribūna
- يُحَارِبُونَ
- wage war
- l-laha
- ٱللَّهَ
- (against) Allah
- warasūlahu
- وَرَسُولَهُۥ
- and His Messenger
- wayasʿawna
- وَيَسْعَوْنَ
- and strive
- fī
- فِى
- in
- l-arḍi
- ٱلْأَرْضِ
- the earth
- fasādan
- فَسَادًا
- spreading corruption
- an
- أَن
- (is) that
- yuqattalū
- يُقَتَّلُوٓا۟
- they be killed
- aw
- أَوْ
- or
- yuṣallabū
- يُصَلَّبُوٓا۟
- they be crucified
- aw
- أَوْ
- or
- tuqaṭṭaʿa
- تُقَطَّعَ
- be cut off
- aydīhim
- أَيْدِيهِمْ
- their hands
- wa-arjuluhum
- وَأَرْجُلُهُم
- and their feet
- min
- مِّنْ
- of
- khilāfin
- خِلَٰفٍ
- opposite sides
- aw
- أَوْ
- or
- yunfaw
- يُنفَوْا۟
- they be exiled
- mina
- مِنَ
- from
- l-arḍi
- ٱلْأَرْضِۚ
- the land
- dhālika
- ذَٰلِكَ
- That
- lahum
- لَهُمْ
- (is) for them
- khiz'yun
- خِزْىٌ
- disgrace
- fī
- فِى
- in
- l-dun'yā
- ٱلدُّنْيَاۖ
- the world
- walahum
- وَلَهُمْ
- and for them
- fī
- فِى
- in
- l-ākhirati
- ٱلْءَاخِرَةِ
- the Hereafter
- ʿadhābun
- عَذَابٌ
- (is) a punishment
- ʿaẓīmun
- عَظِيمٌ
- great
Indeed, the penalty for those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and strive upon earth [to cause] corruption is none but that they be killed or crucified or that their hands and feet be cut off from opposite sides or that they be exiled from the land. That is for them a disgrace in this world; and for them in the Hereafter is a great punishment, (QS. [5] Al-Ma'idah: 33)Tafsir
اِلَّا الَّذِيْنَ تَابُوْا مِنْ قَبْلِ اَنْ تَقْدِرُوْا عَلَيْهِمْۚ فَاعْلَمُوْٓا اَنَّ اللّٰهَ غَفُوْرٌ رَّحِيْمٌ ࣖ ٣٤
- illā
- إِلَّا
- Except
- alladhīna
- ٱلَّذِينَ
- those who
- tābū
- تَابُوا۟
- repent
- min
- مِن
- from
- qabli
- قَبْلِ
- before
- an
- أَن
- that
- taqdirū
- تَقْدِرُوا۟
- you overpower
- ʿalayhim
- عَلَيْهِمْۖ
- [over] them
- fa-iʿ'lamū
- فَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟
- then know
- anna
- أَنَّ
- that
- l-laha
- ٱللَّهَ
- Allah
- ghafūrun
- غَفُورٌ
- (is) Oft-Forgiving
- raḥīmun
- رَّحِيمٌ
- Most Merciful
Except for those who return [repenting] before you overcome [i.e., apprehend] them. And know that Allah is Forgiving and Merciful. (QS. [5] Al-Ma'idah: 34)Tafsir
يٰٓاَيُّهَا الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللّٰهَ وَابْتَغُوْٓا اِلَيْهِ الْوَسِيْلَةَ وَجَاهِدُوْا فِيْ سَبِيْلِهٖ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُوْنَ ٣٥
- yāayyuhā
- يَٰٓأَيُّهَا
- O you
- alladhīna
- ٱلَّذِينَ
- who
- āmanū
- ءَامَنُوا۟
- believe!
- ittaqū
- ٱتَّقُوا۟
- Fear
- l-laha
- ٱللَّهَ
- Allah
- wa-ib'taghū
- وَٱبْتَغُوٓا۟
- and seek
- ilayhi
- إِلَيْهِ
- towards Him
- l-wasīlata
- ٱلْوَسِيلَةَ
- the means
- wajāhidū
- وَجَٰهِدُوا۟
- and strive hard
- fī
- فِى
- in
- sabīlihi
- سَبِيلِهِۦ
- His way
- laʿallakum
- لَعَلَّكُمْ
- so that you may
- tuf'liḥūna
- تُفْلِحُونَ
- succeed
O you who have believed, fear Allah and seek the means [of nearness] to Him and strive in His cause that you may succeed. (QS. [5] Al-Ma'idah: 35)Tafsir
اِنَّ الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوْا لَوْ اَنَّ لَهُمْ مَّا فِى الْاَرْضِ جَمِيْعًا وَّمِثْلَهٗ مَعَهٗ لِيَفْتَدُوْا بِهٖ مِنْ عَذَابِ يَوْمِ الْقِيٰمَةِ مَا تُقُبِّلَ مِنْهُمْ ۚ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ اَلِيْمٌ ٣٦
- inna
- إِنَّ
- Indeed
- alladhīna
- ٱلَّذِينَ
- those who
- kafarū
- كَفَرُوا۟
- disbelieve
- law
- لَوْ
- if
- anna
- أَنَّ
- that
- lahum
- لَهُم
- for them
- mā
- مَّا
- (is) what
- fī
- فِى
- (is) in
- l-arḍi
- ٱلْأَرْضِ
- the earth
- jamīʿan
- جَمِيعًا
- all
- wamith'lahu
- وَمِثْلَهُۥ
- and the like of it
- maʿahu
- مَعَهُۥ
- with it
- liyaftadū
- لِيَفْتَدُوا۟
- to ransom themselves
- bihi
- بِهِۦ
- with it
- min
- مِنْ
- from
- ʿadhābi
- عَذَابِ
- (the) punishment
- yawmi
- يَوْمِ
- (of the) Day
- l-qiyāmati
- ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ
- (of) the Resurrection
- mā
- مَا
- not
- tuqubbila
- تُقُبِّلَ
- will be accepted
- min'hum
- مِنْهُمْۖ
- from them
- walahum
- وَلَهُمْ
- and for them
- ʿadhābun
- عَذَابٌ
- (is) a punishment
- alīmun
- أَلِيمٌ
- painful
Indeed, those who disbelieve – if they should have all that is in the earth and the like of it with it by which to ransom themselves from the punishment of the Day of Resurrection, it will not be accepted from them, and for them is a painful punishment. (QS. [5] Al-Ma'idah: 36)Tafsir
يُرِيْدُوْنَ اَنْ يَّخْرُجُوْا مِنَ النَّارِ وَمَا هُمْ بِخَارِجِيْنَ مِنْهَا ۖوَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ مُّقِيمٌ ٣٧
- yurīdūna
- يُرِيدُونَ
- They will wish
- an
- أَن
- that
- yakhrujū
- يَخْرُجُوا۟
- they come out
- mina
- مِنَ
- of
- l-nāri
- ٱلنَّارِ
- the Fire
- wamā
- وَمَا
- but not
- hum
- هُم
- they
- bikhārijīna
- بِخَٰرِجِينَ
- will come out
- min'hā
- مِنْهَاۖ
- of it
- walahum
- وَلَهُمْ
- And for them
- ʿadhābun
- عَذَابٌ
- (is) a punishment
- muqīmun
- مُّقِيمٌ
- lasting
They will wish to get out of the Fire, but never are they to emerge therefrom, and for them is an enduring punishment. (QS. [5] Al-Ma'idah: 37)Tafsir
وَالسَّارِقُ وَالسَّارِقَةُ فَاقْطَعُوْٓا اَيْدِيَهُمَا جَزَاۤءًۢ بِمَا كَسَبَا نَكَالًا مِّنَ اللّٰهِ ۗوَاللّٰهُ عَزِيْزٌ حَكِيْمٌ ٣٨
- wal-sāriqu
- وَٱلسَّارِقُ
- And (for) the male thief
- wal-sāriqatu
- وَٱلسَّارِقَةُ
- and the female thief -
- fa-iq'ṭaʿū
- فَٱقْطَعُوٓا۟
- [then] cut off
- aydiyahumā
- أَيْدِيَهُمَا
- their hands
- jazāan
- جَزَآءًۢ
- (as) a recompense
- bimā
- بِمَا
- for what
- kasabā
- كَسَبَا
- they earned
- nakālan
- نَكَٰلًا
- (as) an exemplary (punishment)
- mina
- مِّنَ
- from
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِۗ
- Allah
- wal-lahu
- وَٱللَّهُ
- And Allah
- ʿazīzun
- عَزِيزٌ
- (is) All-Mighty
- ḥakīmun
- حَكِيمٌ
- All-Wise
[As for] the thief, the male and the female, amputate their hands in recompense for what they earned [i.e., committed] as a deterrent [punishment] from Allah. And Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise. (QS. [5] Al-Ma'idah: 38)Tafsir
فَمَنْ تَابَ مِنْۢ بَعْدِ ظُلْمِهٖ وَاَصْلَحَ فَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ يَتُوْبُ عَلَيْهِ ۗاِنَّ اللّٰهَ غَفُوْرٌ رَّحِيْمٌ ٣٩
- faman
- فَمَن
- But whoever
- tāba
- تَابَ
- repented
- min
- مِنۢ
- from
- baʿdi
- بَعْدِ
- after
- ẓul'mihi
- ظُلْمِهِۦ
- his wrongdoing
- wa-aṣlaḥa
- وَأَصْلَحَ
- and reforms
- fa-inna
- فَإِنَّ
- then indeed
- l-laha
- ٱللَّهَ
- Allah
- yatūbu
- يَتُوبُ
- will turn in forgiveness
- ʿalayhi
- عَلَيْهِۗ
- to him
- inna
- إِنَّ
- Indeed
- l-laha
- ٱللَّهَ
- Allah
- ghafūrun
- غَفُورٌ
- (is) Oft-Forgiving
- raḥīmun
- رَّحِيمٌ
- Most Merciful
But whoever repents after his wrongdoing and reforms, indeed, Allah will turn to him in forgiveness. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful. (QS. [5] Al-Ma'idah: 39)Tafsir
اَلَمْ تَعْلَمْ اَنَّ اللّٰهَ لَهٗ مُلْكُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضِۗ يُعَذِّبُ مَنْ يَّشَاۤءُ وَيَغْفِرُ لِمَنْ يَّشَاۤءُ ۗوَاللّٰهُ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيْرٌ ٤٠
- alam
- أَلَمْ
- Do not
- taʿlam
- تَعْلَمْ
- you know
- anna
- أَنَّ
- that
- l-laha
- ٱللَّهَ
- Allah
- lahu
- لَهُۥ
- to Him (belongs)
- mul'ku
- مُلْكُ
- the dominion
- l-samāwāti
- ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ
- (of) the heavens
- wal-arḍi
- وَٱلْأَرْضِ
- and the earth?
- yuʿadhibu
- يُعَذِّبُ
- He punishes
- man
- مَن
- whom
- yashāu
- يَشَآءُ
- He wills
- wayaghfiru
- وَيَغْفِرُ
- and He forgives
- liman
- لِمَن
- [to] whom
- yashāu
- يَشَآءُۗ
- He wills
- wal-lahu
- وَٱللَّهُ
- And Allah
- ʿalā
- عَلَىٰ
- (is) on
- kulli
- كُلِّ
- every
- shayin
- شَىْءٍ
- thing
- qadīrun
- قَدِيرٌ
- All-Powerful
Do you not know that to Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth? He punishes whom He wills and forgives whom He wills, and Allah is over all things competent. (QS. [5] Al-Ma'idah: 40)Tafsir
