Al-Qur'an Surah Al-Hujurat Verse 3
Al-Hujurat [49]: 3 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer
اِنَّ الَّذِيْنَ يَغُضُّوْنَ اَصْوَاتَهُمْ عِنْدَ رَسُوْلِ اللّٰهِ اُولٰۤىِٕكَ الَّذِيْنَ امْتَحَنَ اللّٰهُ قُلُوْبَهُمْ لِلتَّقْوٰىۗ لَهُمْ مَّغْفِرَةٌ وَّاَجْرٌ عَظِيْمٌ (الحجرات : ٤٩)

Transliteration:
Innal lazeena yaghud doona aswaatahum 'inda Rasoolil laahi ulaaa'ikal lazeenam tah anal laahu quloobahum littaqwaa; lahum maghfiratunw waajrun 'azeem(QS. al-Ḥujurāt:3)
English / Sahih Translation:
Indeed, those who lower their voices before the Messenger of Allah – they are the ones whose hearts Allah has tested for righteousness. For them is forgiveness and great reward. (QS. Al-Hujurat, ayah 3)

Tafsir jalalayn
The following was revealed regarding those who used to lower their voices in the presence of the Prophet (s), such as Ab Bakr, `Umar and others, may God be pleased with [all of] them; Truly those who lower their voices in the presence of God's Messenger -- they are the ones whose hearts God has tested for God- fearing, that is to say, [He has tested them] so that this [fear of God] may manifest itself in them. For them will be forgiveness and a great reward; Paradise.
Tafseer Ibn Kathir
إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَغُضُّونَ أَصْوَاتَهُمْ عِندَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ أُوْلَيِكَ الَّذِينَ امْتَحَنَ اللَّهُ قُلُوبَهُمْ لِلتَّقْوَى
..
Verily, those who lower their voices in the presence of Allah's Messenger, they are the ones whose hearts Allah has tested for Taqwa.
whose hearts have been purified by Allah and made as a residence and dwelling for the Taqwa,
لَهُم مَّغْفِرَةٌ وَأَجْرٌ عَظِيمٌ
For them is forgiveness and a great reward.
Imam Ahmad recorded in the Book of Az-Zuhd that Mujahid said,
"Someone wrote to Umar,
`O Leader of the faithful!
Who is better, a man who does not feel the desire to commit a sin and does not commit it, or
a man who feels desire to commit a sin, but does not commit it'
Umar replied,
`He who feels desire to commit a sin, but does not commit it,
أُوْلَيِكَ الَّذِينَ امْتَحَنَ اللَّهُ قُلُوبَهُمْ لِلتَّقْوَى
لَهُم مَّغْفِرَةٌ وَأَجْرٌ عَظِيمٌ
they are the ones whose hearts Allah has tested for Taqwa. For them is forgiveness and a great reward."
