Al-Hujurat [49]: 15 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

اِنَّمَا الْمُؤْمِنُوْنَ الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا بِاللّٰهِ وَرَسُوْلِهٖ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَرْتَابُوْا وَجَاهَدُوْا بِاَمْوَالِهِمْ وَاَنْفُسِهِمْ فِيْ سَبِيْلِ اللّٰهِ ۗ اُولٰۤىِٕكَ هُمُ الصّٰدِقُوْنَ (الحجرات : ٤٩)

innamā
إِنَّمَا
Only
l-mu'minūna
ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ
the believers
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
(are) those who
āmanū
ءَامَنُوا۟
believe
bil-lahi
بِٱللَّهِ
in Allah
warasūlihi
وَرَسُولِهِۦ
and His Messenger
thumma
ثُمَّ
then
lam
لَمْ
(do) not
yartābū
يَرْتَابُوا۟
doubt
wajāhadū
وَجَٰهَدُوا۟
but strive
bi-amwālihim
بِأَمْوَٰلِهِمْ
with their wealth
wa-anfusihim
وَأَنفُسِهِمْ
and their lives
فِى
in
sabīli
سَبِيلِ
(the) way
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِۚ
(of) Allah
ulāika
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ
Those
humu
هُمُ
[they]
l-ṣādiqūna
ٱلصَّٰدِقُونَ
(are) the truthful"

Transliteration:

Innamal muu'minoonal lazeena aamanoo billaahi wa Rasoolihee summa lam yartaaboo wa jaahadoo biamwaalihim wa anfusihim fee sabeelil laah; ulaaaika humus saadiqoon (QS. al-Ḥujurāt:15)

English / Sahih Translation:

The believers are only the ones who have believed in Allah and His Messenger and then doubt not but strive with their properties and their lives in the cause of Allah. It is those who are the truthful. (QS. Al-Hujurat, ayah 15)

Mufti Taqi Usmani

Believers, in fact, are those who believe in Allah and His Messenger, then have no doubt, and struggle, with their riches and their lives, in the way of Allah. Those are the truthful.

The ˹true˺ believers are only those who believe in Allah and His Messenger—never doubting—and strive with their wealth and their lives in the cause of Allah. They are the ones true in faith.

Indeed the ones possessed of true faith are those who believed in Allah and His Messenger and then they did not entertain any doubt and strove hard in the Way of Allah with their lives and their possessions. These are the truthful ones.

They alone are believers who come to believe in God and His Apostle, then never doubt again, and struggle wealth and soul in the way of God. They are the truthful and sincere.

Ahmed Raza Khan

The true believers are only those who accepted faith in Allah and His Noble Messenger and then did not have any doubt, and fought with their wealth and their lives in Allah’s way; it is they who are the truthful.

Ali Quli Qarai

The faithful are only those who have attained faith in Allah and His Apostle and then have never doubted, and who wage jihad with their possessions and their persons in the way of Allah. It is they who are the truthful.

Ali Ünal

Only those are the believers who have truly believed in God (as the Unique Deity, Lord, and Sovereign), and (believed in) His Messenger (including all that he has brought from God), then have never since doubted (the truth of what they have testified to), and who strive hard with their wealth and persons in God’s cause. Those are they who are truthful and honest (in their profession of faith).

Amatul Rahman Omar

The believers are only those who (truly) believe in Allâh and His Messenger, and then doubt not, and who strive hard with their possessions and their lives in the cause of Allâh. It is they who are the true to their words (and Muslims of a high standard).´

English Literal

Truly/indeed the believers (are) those who believed with (in) God and His messenger, then they did not doubt/be suspicious, and they struggled/did their utmost with their properties/possessions and themselves in God`s way/path , those, they are the truthful.

The true believers are only those who accepted faith in Allah and His Noble Messenger and then did not have any doubt, and fought with their wealth and their lives in Allah’s way; it is they who are the truthful.

The dwellers of the desert say: We believe. Say: You believe not, but say, We submit; and faith has not yet entered into your hearts. And if you obey Allah and His Messenger, He will not diminish aught of your deeds. Surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

The believers are only those who believe in Allah and His Apostle then they doubt not and struggle hard with their wealth and their lives in the way of Allah; they are the truthful ones.

The believers are those who believe in Allah and His Messenger and have not doubted, and who struggled in His Way with their possessions and themselves. Such are those who are truthful.

Only those are the believers who have believed in Allah and His Messenger, and afterward doubt not but strive with their wealth and their lives for the cause of Allah. Those! They are the truthful.

Wahiduddin Khan

The believers are only those who have faith in God and His Messenger and then doubt not, but strive, hard with their wealth and their persons for the cause of God. Such are the truthful ones.

Talal Itani

The believers are those who believe in God and His Messenger, and then have not doubted, and strive for God’s cause with their wealth and their persons. These are the sincere.

Tafsir jalalayn

The [true] believers, that is, those who are true in their [affirmation of] faith -- as He makes explicit in what follows -- are only those who believe in God and His Messenger, and then have not doubted, they have not been uncertain of [their] faith, and who strive with their wealth and their souls for the cause of God, hence their striving manifests the sincerity of their faith. It is they who are sincere, in their faith, not those who say, `We believe', and from whom all that has been forthcoming is their submission [to the religion].

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

إِنَّمَا الْمُوْمِنُونَ

Only those are the believers, (i.e. who have perfect Faith),

الَّذِينَ امَنُوا بِاللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ

ثُمَّ لَمْ يَرْتَابُوا

who have believed in Allah and His Messenger, and afterward doubt not,

They do not have doubts and their Faith was not shaken. Rather, their Faith remained on conviction,

وَجَاهَدُوا بِأَمْوَالِهِمْ وَأَنفُسِهِمْ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ

but strive for the cause of Allah with their wealth and their lives,

meaning, they gladly gave away their life and the most precious of their wealth in obedience to Allah as a means of seeking His pleasure,

أُوْلَيِكَ هُمُ الصَّادِقُونَ



Those! They are the truthful.

`in their statement if they say that they are believers, unlike some Bedouins who are faithful only by words outwardly!'

Allah said
