Al-Qur'an Surah Al-Fath Verse 9

Al-Fath [48]: 9 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

لِّتُؤْمِنُوْا بِاللّٰهِ وَرَسُوْلِهٖ وَتُعَزِّرُوْهُ وَتُوَقِّرُوْهُۗ وَتُسَبِّحُوْهُ بُكْرَةً وَّاَصِيْلًا (الفتح : ٤٨)

litu'minū
لِّتُؤْمِنُوا۟
That you may believe
bil-lahi
بِٱللَّهِ
in Allah
warasūlihi
وَرَسُولِهِۦ
and His Messenger
watuʿazzirūhu
وَتُعَزِّرُوهُ
and (may) honor him
watuwaqqirūhu
وَتُوَقِّرُوهُ
and respect him
watusabbiḥūhu
وَتُسَبِّحُوهُ
and glorify Him
buk'ratan
بُكْرَةً
morning
wa-aṣīlan
وَأَصِيلًا
and evening

Transliteration:

Litu minoo billaahi wa Rasoolihee wa tu'azziroohu watuwaqqiroohu watusabbi hoohu bukratanw wa aseelaa (QS. al-Fatḥ:9)

English / Sahih Translation:

That you [people] may believe in Allah and His Messenger and honor him and respect him [i.e., the Prophet (^)] and exalt Him [i.e., Allah] morning and afternoon. (QS. Al-Fath, ayah 9)

so that you (O people,) believe in Allah and His Messenger, and support him and revere him, and pronounce His (Allah’s) purity morning and evening.

In order that you, O people, may accept faith in Allah and His Noble Messenger, and honour and revere the Noble Messenger; and may say the Purity of Allah, morning and evening. (To honour the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him – is part of faith. To disrespect him is blasphemy.)

that you may have faith in Allah and His Apostle, and that you may support him and revere him, and that you may glorify Him morning and evening.

And in order that you (O humankind and jinn) believe in God and His Messenger (and support His cause), and hold God in the highest regard, and glorify Him in the early morning and in the evening (i.e., day and night).

(Mankind! We have done it) so that you may have faith in Allâh and His Messenger and so that you may help him in a respectful manner and honour him, and so that you may glorify Him morning and evening.

English Literal

To believe with (in) God and His messenger, and you support/aid Him , and you dignify/honour/respect Him , and you praise/glorify Him (at) daybreaks/early mornings and evening to sunset .

Tafsir jalalayn

that you may believe (li-tu'min, may also here be read li-yu'min, `that they may believe'; and similarly read either the second person plural or the third person plural in the next three instances) in God and His Messenger, and that you may support Him (tu`azzirhu; a variant reading has tu`azzizhu) and revere Him (the [third person suffixed] pronoun [-hu, `him'] may refer either to God or to His Messenger) and glorify Him, that is, God, morning and evening.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

لِتُوْمِنُوا بِاللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ وَتُعَزِّرُوهُ

In order that you may believe in Allah and His Messenger, and that you Tu`azziruh (or you honor him, according to Abdullah bin Abbas and several others),

وَتُوَقِّرُوهُ

and Tuwaqqiruh, (where Tawqir means, respect, honor and high regard),

وَتُسَبِّحُوهُ

and that you Tusabbihuh, (glorify Allah's praises),

بُكْرَةً وَأَصِيلً


Bukrah and Asila, (the early and late part of the day).
