Al-Qur'an Surah Al-Fath Verse 6

Mufti Taqi Usmani

and so that He may punish the hypocrites, men and women, and the mushriks (polytheists), men and women, who think evil thoughts about Allah. Bound for them there is a vicious circle, and Allah has become angry with them, and He has prepared Jahannam (Hell) for them, and it is an evil destination.

Also ˹so that˺ He may punish hypocrite men and women and polytheistic men and women, who harbour evil thoughts of Allah.[[ i.e., that Allah will not support His Prophet (ﷺ) and that misfortune will befall the believers. ]] May ill-fate befall them! Allah is displeased with them. He has condemned them and prepared for them Hell. What an evil destination!

And (He has decreed it so that) He may punish the hypocrites both men and women and the polytheists both men and women who entertain evil thoughts about Allâh. There awaits them an evil term (of calamity). Allâh is angry with them and has deprived them of His mercy and has Gehenna in store for them, and evil it is for destination.

And He tortures the hypocrites (M) and the hypocrites (F), and the sharers/takers of partners with God (M) and the sharers/takers of partners with God (F), the thinkers/assumers with (of) God the bad`s/evil`s thought/assumption , on them (is) the bad`s/evil`s circle/disaster, and God became angry/angered on them, and He cursed/humiliated them , and He prepared for them Hell , and it was a bad/evil end/destination.

Tafsir jalalayn

and so that He may chastise the hypocrites, men and women, and the idolaters, men and women, and those who make evil assumptions about God (read al-saw' or al-s', `evil', in all three places); they assumed that He will not assist Muhammad (s) and the believers. For them will be an evil turn of fortune, by way of abasement and chastisement; and God is wroth with them, and He has cursed them, He has banished them [far from His mercy], and has prepared for them Hell -- and it is an evil destination!, [an evil] place to return to.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

وَيُعَذِّبَ الْمُنَافِقِينَ وَالْمُنَافِقَاتِ وَالْمُشْرِكِينَ وَالْمُشْرِكَاتِ

الظَّانِّينَ بِاللَّهِ ظَنَّ السَّوْءِ


And that He may punish the hypocrites, men and women, and also the idolators, men and women, who think evil thoughts about Allah,

who question the wisdom in Allah's decisions and think that the Messenger and his Companions, may Allah be pleased with them, might be killed and exterminated.

This is why Allah the Exalted said,

عَلَيْهِمْ دَايِرَةُ السَّوْءِ وَغَضِبَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَعَنَهُمْ

for them is a disgraceful torment. And the anger of Allah is upon them, and He has cursed them,

(He has cast them away from His mercy),

وَأَعَدَّ لَهُمْ جَهَنَّمَ وَسَاءتْ مَصِيرًا




and prepared Hell for them -- and worst indeed is that destination.

Allah the Exalted and Most Honored asserted His ability to take revenge from the enemies of Islam and all disbelievers and hypocrites,

وَلِلَّهِ جُنُودُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالاَْرْضِ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ عَزِيزًا حَكِيمًا
