(The Victory)

11

سَيَقُوْلُ لَكَ الْمُخَلَّفُوْنَ مِنَ الْاَعْرَابِ شَغَلَتْنَآ اَمْوَالُنَا وَاَهْلُوْنَا فَاسْتَغْفِرْ لَنَا ۚيَقُوْلُوْنَ بِاَلْسِنَتِهِمْ مَّا لَيْسَ فِيْ قُلُوْبِهِمْۗ قُلْ فَمَنْ يَّمْلِكُ لَكُمْ مِّنَ اللّٰهِ شَيْـًٔا اِنْ اَرَادَ بِكُمْ ضَرًّا اَوْ اَرَادَ بِكُمْ نَفْعًا ۗبَلْ كَانَ اللّٰهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُوْنَ خَبِيْرًا ١١

sayaqūlu
سَيَقُولُ
Will say
laka
لَكَ
to you
l-mukhalafūna
ٱلْمُخَلَّفُونَ
those who remained behind
mina
مِنَ
of
l-aʿrābi
ٱلْأَعْرَابِ
the Bedouins
shaghalatnā
شَغَلَتْنَآ
"Kept us busy
amwālunā
أَمْوَٰلُنَا
our properties
wa-ahlūnā
وَأَهْلُونَا
and our families
fa-is'taghfir
فَٱسْتَغْفِرْ
so ask forgiveness
lanā
لَنَاۚ
for us"
yaqūlūna
يَقُولُونَ
They say
bi-alsinatihim
بِأَلْسِنَتِهِم
with their tongues
مَّا
what
laysa
لَيْسَ
is not
فِى
in
qulūbihim
قُلُوبِهِمْۚ
their hearts
qul
قُلْ
Say
faman
فَمَن
"Then who
yamliku
يَمْلِكُ
has power
lakum
لَكُم
for you
mina
مِّنَ
against
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
shayan
شَيْـًٔا
(in) anything
in
إِنْ
if
arāda
أَرَادَ
He intends
bikum
بِكُمْ
for you
ḍarran
ضَرًّا
harm
aw
أَوْ
or
arāda
أَرَادَ
He intends
bikum
بِكُمْ
for you
nafʿan
نَفْعًۢاۚ
a benefit?
bal
بَلْ
Nay
kāna
كَانَ
is
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
bimā
بِمَا
of what
taʿmalūna
تَعْمَلُونَ
you do
khabīran
خَبِيرًۢا
All-Aware
Those who remained behind of the bedouins will say to you, "Our properties and our families occupied us, so ask forgiveness for us." They say with their tongues what is not within their hearts. Say, "Then who could prevent Allah at all if He intended for you harm or intended for you benefit? Rather, ever is Allah, of what you do, Aware. (QS. [48] Al-Fath: 11)
Tafsir
12

بَلْ ظَنَنْتُمْ اَنْ لَّنْ يَّنْقَلِبَ الرَّسُوْلُ وَالْمُؤْمِنُوْنَ اِلٰٓى اَهْلِيْهِمْ اَبَدًا وَّزُيِّنَ ذٰلِكَ فِيْ قُلُوْبِكُمْ وَظَنَنْتُمْ ظَنَّ السَّوْءِۚ وَكُنْتُمْ قَوْمًاۢ بُوْرًا ١٢

bal
بَلْ
Nay
ẓanantum
ظَنَنتُمْ
you thought
an
أَن
that
lan
لَّن
(would) never
yanqaliba
يَنقَلِبَ
return
l-rasūlu
ٱلرَّسُولُ
the Messenger
wal-mu'minūna
وَٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ
and the believers
ilā
إِلَىٰٓ
to
ahlīhim
أَهْلِيهِمْ
their families
abadan
أَبَدًا
ever
wazuyyina
وَزُيِّنَ
that was made fair-seeming
dhālika
ذَٰلِكَ
that was made fair-seeming
فِى
in
qulūbikum
قُلُوبِكُمْ
your hearts
waẓanantum
وَظَنَنتُمْ
And you assumed
ẓanna
ظَنَّ
an assumption
l-sawi
ٱلسَّوْءِ
evil
wakuntum
وَكُنتُمْ
and you became
qawman
قَوْمًۢا
a people
būran
بُورًا
ruined"
But you thought that the Messenger and the believers would never return to their families, ever, and that was made pleasing in your hearts. And you assumed an assumption of evil and became a people ruined." (QS. [48] Al-Fath: 12)
Tafsir
13

وَمَنْ لَّمْ يُؤْمِنْۢ بِاللّٰهِ وَرَسُوْلِهٖ فَاِنَّآ اَعْتَدْنَا لِلْكٰفِرِيْنَ سَعِيْرًا ١٣

waman
وَمَن
And whoever
lam
لَّمْ
(has) not believed
yu'min
يُؤْمِنۢ
(has) not believed
bil-lahi
بِٱللَّهِ
in Allah
warasūlihi
وَرَسُولِهِۦ
and His Messenger
fa-innā
فَإِنَّآ
then indeed, We
aʿtadnā
أَعْتَدْنَا
[We] have prepared
lil'kāfirīna
لِلْكَٰفِرِينَ
for the disbelievers
saʿīran
سَعِيرًا
a Blazing Fire
And whoever has not believed in Allah and His Messenger – then indeed, We have prepared for the disbelievers a Blaze. (QS. [48] Al-Fath: 13)
Tafsir
14

وَلِلّٰهِ مُلْكُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضِۗ يَغْفِرُ لِمَنْ يَّشَاۤءُ وَيُعَذِّبُ مَنْ يَّشَاۤءُ ۗوَكَانَ اللّٰهُ غَفُوْرًا رَّحِيْمًا ١٤

walillahi
وَلِلَّهِ
And for Allah
mul'ku
مُلْكُ
(is the) kingdom
l-samāwāti
ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ
(of) the heavens
wal-arḍi
وَٱلْأَرْضِۚ
and the earth
yaghfiru
يَغْفِرُ
He forgives
liman
لِمَن
whom
yashāu
يَشَآءُ
He wills
wayuʿadhibu
وَيُعَذِّبُ
and punishes
man
مَن
whom
yashāu
يَشَآءُۚ
He wills
wakāna
وَكَانَ
And is
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
ghafūran
غَفُورًا
Oft-Forgiving
raḥīman
رَّحِيمًا
Most Merciful
And to Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. He forgives whom He wills and punishes whom He wills. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful. (QS. [48] Al-Fath: 14)
Tafsir
15

سَيَقُوْلُ الْمُخَلَّفُوْنَ اِذَا انْطَلَقْتُمْ اِلٰى مَغَانِمَ لِتَأْخُذُوْهَا ذَرُوْنَا نَتَّبِعْكُمْ ۚ يُرِيْدُوْنَ اَنْ يُّبَدِّلُوْا كَلٰمَ اللّٰهِ ۗ قُلْ لَّنْ تَتَّبِعُوْنَا كَذٰلِكُمْ قَالَ اللّٰهُ مِنْ قَبْلُ ۖفَسَيَقُوْلُوْنَ بَلْ تَحْسُدُوْنَنَا ۗ بَلْ كَانُوْا لَا يَفْقَهُوْنَ اِلَّا قَلِيْلًا ١٥

سَيَقُولُ
Will say
l-mukhalafūna
ٱلْمُخَلَّفُونَ
those who remained behind
idhā
إِذَا
when
inṭalaqtum
ٱنطَلَقْتُمْ
you set forth
ilā
إِلَىٰ
towards
maghānima
مَغَانِمَ
(the) spoils of war
litakhudhūhā
لِتَأْخُذُوهَا
to take it
dharūnā
ذَرُونَا
"Allow us
nattabiʿ'kum
نَتَّبِعْكُمْۖ
(to) follow you"
yurīdūna
يُرِيدُونَ
They wish
an
أَن
to
yubaddilū
يُبَدِّلُوا۟
change
kalāma
كَلَٰمَ
(the) Words
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِۚ
(of) Allah
qul
قُل
Say
lan
لَّن
"Never
tattabiʿūnā
تَتَّبِعُونَا
will you follow us
kadhālikum
كَذَٰلِكُمْ
Thus
qāla
قَالَ
Allah said
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah said
min
مِن
before"
qablu
قَبْلُۖ
before"
fasayaqūlūna
فَسَيَقُولُونَ
Then they will say
bal
بَلْ
"Nay
taḥsudūnanā
تَحْسُدُونَنَاۚ
you envy us"
bal
بَلْ
Nay
kānū
كَانُوا۟
they were
لَا
not
yafqahūna
يَفْقَهُونَ
understanding
illā
إِلَّا
except
qalīlan
قَلِيلًا
a little
Those who remained behind will say when you set out toward the war booty to take it, "Let us follow you." They wish to change the words of Allah. Say, "Never will you follow us. Thus did Allah say before." So they will say, "Rather, you envy us." But [in fact] they were not understanding except a little. (QS. [48] Al-Fath: 15)

16

قُلْ لِّلْمُخَلَّفِيْنَ مِنَ الْاَعْرَابِ سَتُدْعَوْنَ اِلٰى قَوْمٍ اُولِيْ بَأْسٍ شَدِيْدٍ تُقَاتِلُوْنَهُمْ اَوْ يُسْلِمُوْنَ ۚ فَاِنْ تُطِيْعُوْا يُؤْتِكُمُ اللّٰهُ اَجْرًا حَسَنًا ۚ وَاِنْ تَتَوَلَّوْا كَمَا تَوَلَّيْتُمْ مِّنْ قَبْلُ يُعَذِّبْكُمْ عَذَابًا اَلِيْمًا ١٦

Say
lil'mukhallafīna
لِّلْمُخَلَّفِينَ
to those who remained behind
mina
مِنَ
of
l-aʿrābi
ٱلْأَعْرَابِ
the Bedouins
satud'ʿawna
سَتُدْعَوْنَ
"You will be called
ilā
إِلَىٰ
to
qawmin
قَوْمٍ
a people
ulī
أُو۟لِى
possessors of military might
basin
بَأْسٍ
possessors of military might
shadīdin
شَدِيدٍ
great
tuqātilūnahum
تُقَٰتِلُونَهُمْ
you will fight them
aw
أَوْ
or
yus'limūna
يُسْلِمُونَۖ
they will submit
fa-in
فَإِن
Then if
tuṭīʿū
تُطِيعُوا۟
you obey
yu'tikumu
يُؤْتِكُمُ
Allah will give you
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah will give you
ajran
أَجْرًا
a reward
ḥasanan
حَسَنًاۖ
good
wa-in
وَإِن
but if
tatawallaw
تَتَوَلَّوْا۟
you turn away
kamā
كَمَا
as
tawallaytum
تَوَلَّيْتُم
you turned away
min
مِّن
before
qablu
قَبْلُ
before
yuʿadhib'kum
يُعَذِّبْكُمْ
He will punish you
ʿadhāban
عَذَابًا
(with) a punishment
alīman
أَلِيمًا
painful"
Say to those who remained behind of the bedouins, "You will be called to [face] a people of great military might; you may fight them, or they will submit. So if you obey, Allah will give you a good reward; but if you turn away as you turned away before, He will punish you with a painful punishment." (QS. [48] Al-Fath: 16)
Tafsir
17

لَيْسَ عَلَى الْاَعْمٰى حَرَجٌ وَّلَا عَلَى الْاَعْرَجِ حَرَجٌ وَّلَا عَلَى الْمَرِيْضِ حَرَجٌ ۗ وَمَنْ يُّطِعِ اللّٰهَ وَرَسُوْلَهٗ يُدْخِلْهُ جَنّٰتٍ تَجْرِيْ مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْاَنْهٰرُ ۚ وَمَنْ يَّتَوَلَّ يُعَذِّبْهُ عَذَابًا اَلِيْمًا ࣖ ١٧

Not is
ʿalā
عَلَى
upon
l-aʿmā
ٱلْأَعْمَىٰ
the blind
ḥarajun
حَرَجٌ
any blame
walā
وَلَا
and not
ʿalā
عَلَى
on
l-aʿraji
ٱلْأَعْرَجِ
the lame
ḥarajun
حَرَجٌ
any blame
walā
وَلَا
and not
ʿalā
عَلَى
on
l-marīḍi
ٱلْمَرِيضِ
the sick
ḥarajun
حَرَجٌۗ
any blame
waman
وَمَن
And whoever
yuṭiʿi
يُطِعِ
obeys
l-laha
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
warasūlahu
وَرَسُولَهُۥ
and His Messenger
yud'khil'hu
يُدْخِلْهُ
He will admit him
jannātin
جَنَّٰتٍ
(to) Gardens
tajrī
تَجْرِى
flow
min
مِن
from
taḥtihā
تَحْتِهَا
underneath them
l-anhāru
ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُۖ
the rivers
waman
وَمَن
but whoever
yatawalla
يَتَوَلَّ
turns away
yuʿadhib'hu
يُعَذِّبْهُ
He will punish him
ʿadhāban
عَذَابًا
(with) a punishment
alīman
أَلِيمًا
painful
There is not upon the blind any guilt or upon the lame any guilt or upon the ill any guilt [for remaining behind]. And whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger – He will admit him to gardens beneath which rivers flow; but whoever turns away – He will punish him with a painful punishment. (QS. [48] Al-Fath: 17)

18

۞ لَقَدْ رَضِيَ اللّٰهُ عَنِ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ اِذْ يُبَايِعُوْنَكَ تَحْتَ الشَّجَرَةِ فَعَلِمَ مَا فِيْ قُلُوْبِهِمْ فَاَنْزَلَ السَّكِيْنَةَ عَلَيْهِمْ وَاَثَابَهُمْ فَتْحًا قَرِيْبًاۙ ١٨

laqad
لَّقَدْ
Certainly
raḍiya
رَضِىَ
Allah was pleased
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah was pleased
ʿani
عَنِ
with
l-mu'minīna
ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
the believers
idh
إِذْ
when
yubāyiʿūnaka
يُبَايِعُونَكَ
they pledged allegiance to you
taḥta
تَحْتَ
under
l-shajarati
ٱلشَّجَرَةِ
the tree
faʿalima
فَعَلِمَ
and He knew
مَا
what
فِى
(was) in
qulūbihim
قُلُوبِهِمْ
their hearts
fa-anzala
فَأَنزَلَ
so He sent down
l-sakīnata
ٱلسَّكِينَةَ
the tranquility
ʿalayhim
عَلَيْهِمْ
upon them
wa-athābahum
وَأَثَٰبَهُمْ
and rewarded them
fatḥan
فَتْحًا
(with) a victory
qarīban
قَرِيبًا
near
Certainly was Allah pleased with the believers when they pledged allegiance to you, [O Muhammad], under the tree, and He knew what was in their hearts, so He sent down tranquility upon them and rewarded them with an imminent conquest (QS. [48] Al-Fath: 18)
Tafsir
19

وَّمَغَانِمَ كَثِيْرَةً يَّأْخُذُوْنَهَا ۗ وَكَانَ اللّٰهُ عَزِيْزًا حَكِيْمًا ١٩

wamaghānima
وَمَغَانِمَ
And spoils of war
kathīratan
كَثِيرَةً
much
yakhudhūnahā
يَأْخُذُونَهَاۗ
that they will take;
wakāna
وَكَانَ
and is
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
ʿazīzan
عَزِيزًا
All-Mighty
ḥakīman
حَكِيمًا
All-Wise
And much war booty which they will take. And ever is Allah Exalted in Might and Wise. (QS. [48] Al-Fath: 19)
Tafsir
20

وَعَدَكُمُ اللّٰهُ مَغَانِمَ كَثِيْرَةً تَأْخُذُوْنَهَا فَعَجَّلَ لَكُمْ هٰذِهٖ وَكَفَّ اَيْدِيَ النَّاسِ عَنْكُمْۚ وَلِتَكُوْنَ اٰيَةً لِّلْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ وَيَهْدِيَكُمْ صِرَاطًا مُّسْتَقِيْمًاۙ ٢٠

waʿadakumu
وَعَدَكُمُ
Allah has promised you
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah has promised you
maghānima
مَغَانِمَ
spoils of war
kathīratan
كَثِيرَةً
much
takhudhūnahā
تَأْخُذُونَهَا
that you will take it
faʿajjala
فَعَجَّلَ
and He has hastened
lakum
لَكُمْ
for you
hādhihi
هَٰذِهِۦ
this
wakaffa
وَكَفَّ
and has withheld
aydiya
أَيْدِىَ
(the) hands
l-nāsi
ٱلنَّاسِ
(of) the people
ʿankum
عَنكُمْ
from you
walitakūna
وَلِتَكُونَ
that it may be
āyatan
ءَايَةً
a sign
lil'mu'minīna
لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
for the believers
wayahdiyakum
وَيَهْدِيَكُمْ
and He may guide you
ṣirāṭan
صِرَٰطًا
(to the) Path
mus'taqīman
مُّسْتَقِيمًا
Straight
Allah has promised you much booty that you will take [in the future] and has hastened for you this [victory] and withheld the hands of people from you – that it may be a sign for the believers and [that] He may guide you to a straight path. (QS. [48] Al-Fath: 20)
