Al-Qur'an Surah Muhammad Verse 9

That is because they hate what Allah has sent down; therefore Allah has nullified their deeds.

Tafsir jalalayn

That, wretchedness and wasting [of their works], is because they are averse to what God has revealed, of the Qur'n with all that it includes of religious obligations (taklf), so He has made their works fail.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

ذَلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ كَرِهُوا مَا أَنزَلَ اللَّهُ

That is because they hate that which Allah has sent down;

which means that they did not want or like what Allah revealed.

فَأَحْبَطَ أَعْمَالَهُمْ



so He made their deeds fruitless.
