Muhammad [47]: 25 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

اِنَّ الَّذِيْنَ ارْتَدُّوْا عَلٰٓى اَدْبَارِهِمْ مِّنْۢ بَعْدِ مَا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُمُ الْهُدَى الشَّيْطٰنُ سَوَّلَ لَهُمْۗ وَاَمْلٰى لَهُمْ (محمد : ٤٧)

Shaitaan

لَهُمْ

وَأَمْلَىٰ
and prolonged hope
lahum
لَهُمْ
for them

Transliteration:

Innal lazeenar taddoo 'alaaa adbaarihim mim ba'di maa tabaiyana lahumul hudash Shaitaanu sawwala lahum wa amlaa lahum (QS. Muḥammad:25)

English / Sahih Translation:

Indeed, those who reverted back [to disbelief] after guidance had become clear to them – Satan enticed them and prolonged hope for them. (QS. Muhammad, ayah 25)

Surely those who turn back after the guidance has appeared to them clearly, it is Satan who has tempted them and involved them in far-fetched fancies.

Indeed, those who relapse ˹into disbelief˺ after ˹true˺ guidance has become clear to them, ˹it is˺ Satan ˹that˺ has tempted them, luring them with false hopes.

Certainly those who have turned their backs on the True Guidance after it became manifest to them, Satan has embellished their ways for them and has buoyed them up with false hopes.

Those who turn their backs after the way of guidance has been opened to them, have been surely tempted by Satan and beguiled by illusory hopes.

Surely, those who turned back (to apostasy) after true guidance had dawned upon them, satan has made fair-seeming to them (this action of theirs) and has held out false hopes to them.

English Literal

That truly those who returned on their backs/ends from after what was clarified for them (from) the guidance, the devil enticed/lured for them, and extended in time for them.

Indeed those who turn back after the guidance had become clear to them - Satan has deceived them; and made them optimistic of living for ages.

Surely, those who turn their backs [on this message] after guidance has been shown to them, [do it because] Satan has embellished their fancies and God gives them respite;

Those who reverted after the guidance became clear to them—Satan has enticed them, and has given them latitude.

Tafsir jalalayn

Truly those who have turned, by way of hypocrisy, their backs after the guidance has become clear to them, Satan has seduced, he has adorned [disbelief for], them and has given them [false] hopes (read wa-umliya lahum, `[false] hopes have been given to them', or wa-aml lahum, where the one who gives the [false] hopes is Satan, [but only] by God's will, exalted be He, for he [Satan] is the one who leads them astray).

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ ارْتَدُّوا عَلَى أَدْبَارِهِم

Verily, those who have turned back,

meaning, they departed from the faith and returned to disbelief.

مِّن بَعْدِ مَا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُمُ الْهُدَى

الشَّيْطَانُ سَوَّلَ لَهُمْ
after guidance had become clear to them -- Shaytan has enticed them,

meaning he adorned and beautified that (apostasy) for them.

وَأَمْلَى لَهُمْ



and filled them with false hopes.

meaning, he tempted them, and deceived them
