Al-Qur'an Surah Al-Ahqaf Verse 19

Al-Ahqaf [46]: 19 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

وَلِكُلٍّ دَرَجٰتٌ مِّمَّا عَمِلُوْاۚ وَلِيُوَفِّيَهُمْ اَعْمَالَهُمْ وَهُمْ لَا يُظْلَمُوْنَ (الأحقاف : ٤٦)

walikullin
وَلِكُلٍّ
And for all
darajātun
دَرَجَٰتٌ
(are) degrees
mimmā
مِّمَّا
for what
ʿamilū
عَمِلُوا۟ۖ
they did
waliyuwaffiyahum
وَلِيُوَفِّيَهُمْ
and that He may fully compensate them
aʿmālahum
أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ
(for) their deeds
wahum
وَهُمْ
and they
لَا
will not be wronged
yuẓ'lamūna
يُظْلَمُونَ
will not be wronged

Transliteration:

Wa likullin darajaatum mimmaa 'amiloo wa liyuwaf fiyahum a'maalahum wa hum laa yuzlamoon (QS. al-ʾAḥq̈āf:19)

English / Sahih Translation:

And for all there are degrees [of reward and punishment] for what they have done, and [it is] so that He may fully compensate them for their deeds, and they will not be wronged. (QS. Al-Ahqaf, ayah 19)

For each (of these two groups) there are (different) ranks because of what they did, and so that He may repay them in full for their deeds; and they will not be wronged.

Each ˹of the two groups˺ will be ranked according to what they have done so He may fully reward all. And none will be wronged.

Each will have a position in accordance with his deeds; and no wrong will be done to them.

For everyone there are degrees [of merit] pertaining to what he has done: He will recompense them fully for their works, and they will not be wronged.

For all (individuals and groups) there will be degrees of their own, according to what they have done, and so God will pay them fully for their deeds, and they will not be wronged.

And all shall have positions and grades (with their Lord) according to the worth of their deeds; and (it shall be so) that He may repay them fully for their deeds and that they may not be treated unjustly.

English Literal

And to each, steps/degrees from what they made/did , and to fulfill/complete (to) them their deeds, and they not be caused injustice to/oppressed.

All will be ranked according to their deeds. We will requite them in full for their actions and they will not be wronged.

There are degrees for everyone, according to what they have done, and He will repay them for their works in full, and they will not be wronged.

Tafsir jalalayn

And for each one, of both categories, believer and disbeliever, there will be degrees [of status] , thus the degrees of the believers in Paradise are high, while the degrees of disbelievers in the Fire are despicable, according to what they have done, that is to say, [according to what] believers [have done] in the way of acts of obedience, and disbelievers, in the way of acts of disobedience, and that He may recompense them fully, namely, God (li-yuwaffiyahum; a variant reading has li-nuwaffiyahum, `that We may recompense them fully') for their deeds, that is, [pay them] their deserts, and they will not be wronged, [not even] in a single thing that may be diminished for believers or increased for disbelievers.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

وَلِكُلٍّ دَرَجَاتٌ مِّمَّا عَمِلُوا

And for all, there will be degrees according to that which they did,

meaning that there will be degrees of punishment for each of them according to what they did.

وَلِيُوَفِّيَهُمْ أَعْمَالَهُمْ وَهُمْ لَا يُظْلَمُونَ



so that He might fully recompense them for their deeds, and they will not be wronged.

which means Allah will not be unjust to them even in the amount of a speck of dust or less.

Abdur-Rahman bin Zayd bin Aslam said;

"The levels of the Fire descend, and those of Paradise ascend."

Allah then says
