Al-Qur'an Surah Al-Jathiyah Verse 35

Al-Jathiyah [45]: 35 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

ذٰلِكُمْ بِاَنَّكُمُ اتَّخَذْتُمْ اٰيٰتِ اللّٰهِ هُزُوًا وَّغَرَّتْكُمُ الْحَيٰوةُ الدُّنْيَا ۚفَالْيَوْمَ لَا يُخْرَجُوْنَ مِنْهَا وَلَا هُمْ يُسْتَعْتَبُوْنَ (الجاثية : ٤٥)

dhālikum
ذَٰلِكُم
That
bi-annakumu
بِأَنَّكُمُ
(is) because you
ittakhadhtum
ٱتَّخَذْتُمْ
took
āyāti
ءَايَٰتِ
(the) Verses
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
huzuwan
هُزُوًا
(in) ridicule
wagharratkumu
وَغَرَّتْكُمُ
and deceived you
l-ḥayatu
ٱلْحَيَوٰةُ
the life
l-dun'yā
ٱلدُّنْيَاۚ
(of) the world"
fal-yawma
فَٱلْيَوْمَ
So this Day
لَا
not
yukh'rajūna
يُخْرَجُونَ
they will be brought forth
min'hā
مِنْهَا
from it
walā
وَلَا
and not
hum
هُمْ
they
yus'taʿtabūna
يُسْتَعْتَبُونَ
will be asked to appease

Transliteration:

Zaalikum bi annakumut takhaztum aayaatil laahi huzuwanw wa gharratkumul hayaatud dunyaa; fal yawma laa yukhrajoona minhaa wa laahum yusta'taboon (QS. al-Jāthiyah:35)

English / Sahih Translation:

That is because you took the verses of Allah in ridicule, and worldly life deluded you." So that Day they will not be removed from it, nor will they be asked to appease [Allah]. (QS. Al-Jathiyah, ayah 35)

Mufti Taqi Usmani

That is because you took Allah’s verses as a laughing stock, and the worldly life deceived you.” So today they will neither be brought out of it, nor will they be asked to repent.

Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran

This is because you made a mockery of Allah’s revelations, and were deluded by ˹your˺ worldly life.” So ˹from˺ that Day ˹on˺ they will not be taken out of the Fire, nor will they be allowed to appease ˹their Lord˺.

That is because you took Allah’s verses in ridicule, and were deluded by the life of this world.” So Today they will not be taken out of it, nor will they be asked to make amends.

That is for that you took God's signs in mockery, and the present life deluded you.' So today they shall not be brought forth from it, nor will they be suffered to make amends.

because you received God’s revelations with ridicule and were deceived by worldly life.’ They will not be brought out of the Fire on that Day, nor will they be given the chance to make amends.

That is because ye took the revelations of Allah scoffingly, and there beguiled you the life of the world. Today, therefore, they will not be taken forth therefrom, nor will they be suffered to please Allah.

"This, because ye used to take the Signs of Allah in jest, and the life of the world deceived you;" (From) that Day, therefore, they shall not be taken out thence, nor shall they be received into Grace.

Abul Ala Maududi

You reached this end because you made Allah's Signs an object of jest and the life of the world deluded you.” So they shall not be taken out of the Fire nor shall they be asked to make amends (and thus please their Lord).

Ahmed Ali

This because you laughed at God's revelations and were taken in by the life of the world." So they will neither be taken out of it, nor will be asked to seek God's favour on that day.

“This is because you mocked at the signs of Allah, and the worldly life deceived you”; so this day they are not to be removed from the fire, nor will anyone seek amends from them.

Ali Quli Qarai

That is because you took the signs of Allah in derision, and the life of the world had deceived you.’ So today, they will not be brought out of it, nor will they be asked to propitiate [Allah].

"That is because you used to take all the signs and Revelations of God in mockery, and the life of the world deluded you." And so this Day they will not be taken out of it (the Fire), and (no plea will be accepted from them to return to the world and so) they can no longer make amends.

Amatul Rahman Omar

`This (end of yours) is because you took no account of the commandments of Allâh, and the life of this world seduced you.´ So that Day they will not be taken out of it nor will they be able to reach even the threshold (of the Divine Presence seeking to make amends and to win His favour).

English Literal

That (is) with that you, you took/received God`s verses/evidences mockingly/making fun, and the life the present/worldly life has deceived/tempted you. So the day/today they are not brought/driven out from it, and nor they be allowed to offer reconciliation .

Faridul Haque

“This is because you mocked at the signs of Allah, and the worldly life deceived you”; so this day they are not to be removed from the fire, nor will anyone seek amends from them.

That is because you took the Signs of Allah for a jest and the life of this world deceived you." So on that Day they shall not be brought forth from it, nor shall they be granted Grace.

This, because you took the revelations of Allah (this Quran) in mockery, and the life of the world deceived you. So this Day, they shall not be taken out from there (Hell), nor shall they be Yusta'tabun (i.e. they shall not return to the worldly life, so that they repent to Allah, and beg His Pardon for their sins).

And it will be said: This day We forsake you as you neglected the meeting of this day of yours, and your abode is the Fire, and you have no helpers.

That is because you took the communications of Allah for a jest and the life of this world deceived you. So on that day they shall not be brought forth from it, nor shall they be granted goodwill.

This, forasmuch as ye made the revelations of Allah a jest, and the life of the world beguiled you. Therefor this day they come not forth from thence, nor can they make amends.

This is only because you had mocked the revelations of God and the worldly life had deceived you. On this day they will not be taken out of hell, nor will they be granted any favors.

That is because you took the verses of Allah (the Koran) in mockery, and you were deluded by your worldly life' So that Day they will not be brought outof it; nor shall they be repentant.

Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri

This, because you took the revelations of Allah in mockery, and the life of the world deceived you. So this Day, they shall not be taken out from there (Hell), nor shall they be returned to the worldly life.

Wahiduddin Khan

That is because you made a mockery of God's revelations and were deluded by the life of this world." Therefore, today they will not be brought out of the Fire, nor will they be allowed to make amends.

Talal Itani

That is because you took God’s revelations for a joke, and the worldly life lured you.” So today they will not be brought out of it, and they will not be allowed to repent.

Tafsir jalalayn

That is because you took God's signs, the Qur'n, in mockery, and the life of this world deceived you', to the extent that you said, `There is neither Resurrection nor Reckoning'. So today they will not be brought out (read either active yakhrujna, `they will [not] come out', or passive yukhrajna, `they will [not] be brought out') of it, of the Fire, nor will they asked to make amends; they will not be asked to [try to] attain the pleasure of their Lord by repenting or being obedient, for such [action] will be of no use then.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

ذَلِكُم بِأَنَّكُمُ اتَّخَذْتُمْ ايَاتِ اللَّهِ هُزُوًا

This, because you took the revelations of Allah in mockery.

`We gave you this punishment as retribution because you mocked Allah's proofs that He sent to you, and made them the subject of jokes and jest,'

وَغَرَّتْكُمُ الْحَيَاةُ الدُّنْيَا

and the life of the world deceived you.

`this life fooled you and you were seduced by to it, thus becoming among the ultimate losers,'

فَالْيَوْمَ لَاا يُخْرَجُونَ مِنْهَا

So this Day, they shall not be taken out from there, (i.e. from Hellfire),

وَلَا هُمْ يُسْتَعْتَبُونَ



nor shall they be returned to the worldly life.

no apologies shall be sought from them, but they will be punished without limit or delay, just as a group of the believers will enter Paradise without limit or delay.

After Allah mentioned His judgement for the believers and the disbelievers, He said
