Al-Qur'an Surah Al-Jathiyah Verse 15

Al-Jathiyah [45]: 15 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

مَنْ عَمِلَ صَالِحًا فَلِنَفْسِهٖۚ وَمَنْ اَسَاۤءَ فَعَلَيْهَا ۖ ثُمَّ اِلٰى رَبِّكُمْ تُرْجَعُوْنَ (الجاثية : ٤٥)

you will be returned

Transliteration:

Maa 'amila saalihan falinafsihee wa man asaaa'a fa'alaihaa summa ilaa Rabbikum turja'oon (QS. al-Jāthiyah:15)

English / Sahih Translation:

Whoever does a good deed – it is for himself; and whoever does evil – it is against it [i.e., the self or soul]. Then to your Lord you will be returned. (QS. Al-Jathiyah, ayah 15)

Mufti Taqi Usmani

Whoever acts righteously, it is for his own benefit, and who does evil, it is against his own soul. Then towards your Lord, you will be returned.

English Literal

Who made/did correct/righteous deeds, so (it is) for himself, and who did bad/evil/harm so on (for) it, then to your Lord you are being returned.

Tafsir jalalayn

Whoever acts righteously, it is for [the benefit of] his own soul, that he acts [so], and whoever does evil, it is to the detriment thereof, that he has done evil; then to your Lord you will be returned, [with your Lord] you shall end up, whereupon He will requite the one of righteous deeds and the evildoer.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

Whosoever does a good deed, it is for himself, and whosoever does evil, it is against (himself). Then to your Lord you will be made to return.

meaning, you will all return to Allah on the Day of Resurrection, when you and your actions will be displayed before Him. Then, He will recompense you for your deeds, good for good and evil for evil
