Al-Qur'an Surah Ad-Dukhan Verse 19

Ad-Dukhan [44]: 19 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

وَّاَنْ لَّا تَعْلُوْا عَلَى اللّٰهِ ۚاِنِّيْٓ اٰتِيْكُمْ بِسُلْطٰنٍ مُّبِيْنٍۚ (الدخان : ٤٤)

And that

exalt yourselves

عَلَى

ٱللَّهِۖ
Allah

إِنِّىٓ
Indeed I
ātīkum
ءَاتِيكُم
[I] have come to you
bisul'ṭānin
بِسُلْطَٰنٍ
with an authority
mubīnin
مُّبِينٍ
clear

Transliteration:

Wa al laa ta'loo 'alal laahi innee aateekum bisultaanim mubeen (QS. ad-Dukhān:19)

English / Sahih Translation:

And [saying], "Be not haughty with Allah. Indeed, I have come to you with clear evidence. (QS. Ad-Dukhan, ayah 19)

and saying, “Do not be haughty against Allah. I bring to you a clear proof.

And that (E) do not become high, mighty and dignified on God, that I am coming to you with a clear/evident proof/evidence .

Tafsir jalalayn

and, `Do not rebel, [do not] try to act strong, against God, by neglecting obedience to Him. Lo! I bring you a clear warrant', [clear] proof of [the sincerity of] my Mission -- but they threatened to stone him to death.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

وَأَنْ لاَّ تَعْلُوا عَلَى اللَّهِ

And exalt not yourselves against Allah.

means, `and do not be too arrogant to follow His signs. Accept His proof and believe in His evidence.'

This is like the Ayah;

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ عَنْ عِبَادَتِى سَيَدْخُلُونَ جَهَنَّمَ دَخِرِينَ

Verily, those who scorn My worship they will surely enter Hell in humiliation! (40;60)

إِنِّي اتِيكُم بِسُلْطَانٍ مُّبِينٍ



Truly, I have come to you with a manifest authority.

means, with clear and obvious proof.

This refers to the clear signs and definitive evidence with which Allah sent him.

وَإِنِّي عُذْتُ بِرَبِّي وَرَبِّكُمْ أَن تَرْجُمُونِ
