يَغْشَى النَّاسَۗ هٰذَا عَذَابٌ اَلِيْمٌ ١١
- yaghshā
- يَغْشَى
- Enveloping
- l-nāsa
- ٱلنَّاسَۖ
- the people
- hādhā
- هَٰذَا
- This
- ʿadhābun
- عَذَابٌ
- (will be) a punishment
- alīmun
- أَلِيمٌ
- painful
Covering the people; this is a painful torment. (QS. [44] Ad-Dukhan: 11)Tafsir
12
رَبَّنَا اكْشِفْ عَنَّا الْعَذَابَ اِنَّا مُؤْمِنُوْنَ ١٢
- rabbanā
- رَّبَّنَا
- "Our Lord!
- ik'shif
- ٱكْشِفْ
- Remove
- ʿannā
- عَنَّا
- from us
- l-ʿadhāba
- ٱلْعَذَابَ
- the punishment;
- innā
- إِنَّا
- indeed we
- mu'minūna
- مُؤْمِنُونَ
- (are) believers"
[They will say], "Our Lord, remove from us the torment; indeed, we are believers." (QS. [44] Ad-Dukhan: 12)Tafsir
13
اَنّٰى لَهُمُ الذِّكْرٰى وَقَدْ جَاۤءَهُمْ رَسُوْلٌ مُّبِيْنٌۙ ١٣
- annā
- أَنَّىٰ
- How can
- lahumu
- لَهُمُ
- (there be) for them
- l-dhik'rā
- ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ
- the reminder
- waqad
- وَقَدْ
- when verily
- jāahum
- جَآءَهُمْ
- had come to them
- rasūlun
- رَسُولٌ
- a Messenger
- mubīnun
- مُّبِينٌ
- clear
How will there be for them a reminder [at that time]? And there had come to them a clear Messenger. (QS. [44] Ad-Dukhan: 13)Tafsir
14
ثُمَّ تَوَلَّوْا عَنْهُ وَقَالُوْا مُعَلَّمٌ مَّجْنُوْنٌۘ ١٤
- thumma
- ثُمَّ
- Then
- tawallaw
- تَوَلَّوْا۟
- they turned away
- ʿanhu
- عَنْهُ
- from him
- waqālū
- وَقَالُوا۟
- and said
- muʿallamun
- مُعَلَّمٌ
- "One taught
- majnūnun
- مَّجْنُونٌ
- a mad man"
Then they turned away from him and said, "[He was] taught [and is] a madman." (QS. [44] Ad-Dukhan: 14)Tafsir
15
اِنَّا كَاشِفُوا الْعَذَابِ قَلِيْلًا اِنَّكُمْ عَاۤىِٕدُوْنَۘ ١٥
- innā
- إِنَّا
- Indeed We
- kāshifū
- كَاشِفُوا۟
- (will) remove
- l-ʿadhābi
- ٱلْعَذَابِ
- the punishment
- qalīlan
- قَلِيلًاۚ
- a little
- innakum
- إِنَّكُمْ
- indeed you
- ʿāidūna
- عَآئِدُونَ
- (will) return
Indeed, We will remove the torment for a little. Indeed, you [disbelievers] will return [to disbelief]. (QS. [44] Ad-Dukhan: 15)Tafsir
16
يَوْمَ نَبْطِشُ الْبَطْشَةَ الْكُبْرٰىۚ اِنَّا مُنْتَقِمُوْنَ ١٦
- yawma
- يَوْمَ
- (The) Day
- nabṭishu
- نَبْطِشُ
- We will seize
- l-baṭshata
- ٱلْبَطْشَةَ
- (with) the seizure
- l-kub'rā
- ٱلْكُبْرَىٰٓ
- the greatest
- innā
- إِنَّا
- indeed We
- muntaqimūna
- مُنتَقِمُونَ
- (will) take retribution
The Day We will strike with the greatest assault, indeed, We will take retribution. (QS. [44] Ad-Dukhan: 16)Tafsir
17
۞ وَلَقَدْ فَتَنَّا قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَجَاۤءَهُمْ رَسُوْلٌ كَرِيْمٌۙ ١٧
- walaqad
- وَلَقَدْ
- And certainly
- fatannā
- فَتَنَّا
- We tried
- qablahum
- قَبْلَهُمْ
- before them
- qawma
- قَوْمَ
- (the) people
- fir'ʿawna
- فِرْعَوْنَ
- (of) Firaun
- wajāahum
- وَجَآءَهُمْ
- and came to them
- rasūlun
- رَسُولٌ
- a Messenger
- karīmun
- كَرِيمٌ
- noble
And We had already tried before them the people of Pharaoh, and there came to them a noble messenger [i.e., Moses], (QS. [44] Ad-Dukhan: 17)Tafsir
18
اَنْ اَدُّوْٓا اِلَيَّ عِبَادَ اللّٰهِ ۗاِنِّيْ لَكُمْ رَسُوْلٌ اَمِيْنٌۙ ١٨
- an
- أَنْ
- That
- addū
- أَدُّوٓا۟
- "Deliver
- ilayya
- إِلَىَّ
- to me
- ʿibāda
- عِبَادَ
- (the) servants
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِۖ
- (of) Allah
- innī
- إِنِّى
- Indeed I am
- lakum
- لَكُمْ
- to you
- rasūlun
- رَسُولٌ
- a Messenger
- amīnun
- أَمِينٌ
- trustworthy
[Saying], "Render to me the servants of Allah. Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger," (QS. [44] Ad-Dukhan: 18)Tafsir
19
وَّاَنْ لَّا تَعْلُوْا عَلَى اللّٰهِ ۚاِنِّيْٓ اٰتِيْكُمْ بِسُلْطٰنٍ مُّبِيْنٍۚ ١٩
- wa-an
- وَأَن
- And that
- lā
- لَّا
- (do) not
- taʿlū
- تَعْلُوا۟
- exalt yourselves
- ʿalā
- عَلَى
- against
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِۖ
- Allah
- innī
- إِنِّىٓ
- Indeed I
- ātīkum
- ءَاتِيكُم
- [I] have come to you
- bisul'ṭānin
- بِسُلْطَٰنٍ
- with an authority
- mubīnin
- مُّبِينٍ
- clear
And [saying], "Be not haughty with Allah. Indeed, I have come to you with clear evidence. (QS. [44] Ad-Dukhan: 19)Tafsir
20
وَاِنِّيْ عُذْتُ بِرَبِّيْ وَرَبِّكُمْ اَنْ تَرْجُمُوْنِۚ ٢٠
- wa-innī
- وَإِنِّى
- And indeed I
- ʿudh'tu
- عُذْتُ
- [I] seek refuge
- birabbī
- بِرَبِّى
- with my Lord
- warabbikum
- وَرَبِّكُمْ
- and your Lord
- an
- أَن
- lest
- tarjumūni
- تَرْجُمُونِ
- you stone me
And indeed, I have sought refuge in my Lord and your Lord, lest you stone me. (QS. [44] Ad-Dukhan: 20)Tafsir
