Al-Qur'an Surah Az-Zukhruf Verse 89
Az-Zukhruf [43]: 89 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer
فَاصْفَحْ عَنْهُمْ وَقُلْ سَلٰمٌۗ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُوْنَ ࣖ (الزخرف : ٤٣)
- fa-iṣ'faḥ
- فَٱصْفَحْ
- So turn away
- ʿanhum
- عَنْهُمْ
- from them
- waqul
- وَقُلْ
- and say
- salāmun
- سَلَٰمٌۚ
- "Peace"
- fasawfa
- فَسَوْفَ
- But soon
- yaʿlamūna
- يَعْلَمُونَ
- they will know
Transliteration:
Fasfah 'anhum wa qul salaam; fasawfa ya'lamoon(QS. az-Zukhruf:89)
English / Sahih Translation:
So turn aside from them and say, "Peace." But they are going to know. (QS. Az-Zukhruf, ayah 89)

Tafsir jalalayn
God, exalted be He, says; Then disregard them, leave [them] be, and say, `Peace!', [I will stay away] from you -- this was [revealed] before he was commanded to fight them. For they will [soon] come to know (ya`lamna, may also be read as [second person plural] ta`lamna, `you will [come to] know'), [meant] to threaten them. Meccan, except for verse 15; it consists of 56, 57 or 59 verses.
Tafseer Ibn Kathir
فَاصْفَحْ عَنْهُمْ
So turn away from them,
means, from the idolators.
وَقُلْ سَلَمٌ
and say Salam (peace!)
means, `do not respond to them in the same evil manner in which they address you; but try to soften their hearts and forgive them in word and deed.'
فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ
But they will come to know.
This is a warning from Allah for them. His punishment, which cannot be warded off, struck them, and His religion and His word was supreme. Subsequently Jihad and striving were prescribed until the people entered the religion of Allah in crowds, and Islam spread throughout the east and the west. And Allah knows best.
This is the end of the Tafsir of Surah Az-Zukhruf. All praise and thanks are due to Allah and in Him is all strength and protection.
