Al-Qur'an Surah Az-Zukhruf Verse 87
Az-Zukhruf [43]: 87 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer
وَلَىِٕنْ سَاَلْتَهُمْ مَّنْ خَلَقَهُمْ لَيَقُوْلُنَّ اللّٰهُ فَاَنّٰى يُؤْفَكُوْنَۙ (الزخرف : ٤٣)
- wala-in
- وَلَئِن
- And if
- sa-altahum
- سَأَلْتَهُم
- you ask them
- man
- مَّنْ
- who
- khalaqahum
- خَلَقَهُمْ
- created them
- layaqūlunna
- لَيَقُولُنَّ
- they will certainly say
- l-lahu
- ٱللَّهُۖ
- "Allah"
- fa-annā
- فَأَنَّىٰ
- Then how
- yu'fakūna
- يُؤْفَكُونَ
- are they deluded?
Transliteration:
Wa la'in sa altahum man khalaqahum la yaqoolun nallaahu fa annaa yu'fakoon(QS. az-Zukhruf:87)
English / Sahih Translation:
And if you asked them who created them, they would surely say, "Allah." So how are they deluded? (QS. Az-Zukhruf, ayah 87)

And if you ask them as to who has created them, they will certainly say, “Allah”. Then, to where are they driven back (by their false desires)?

And if (wa-la-in; the lm is for oaths) you ask them who created them, they will surely say, `God' (la- yaqlunna; the indicative nn and the [plural] person indicator ww have been omitted). How can they then deviate?, [how] can they be turned away from worshipping God?
Tafseer Ibn Kathir
And if you ask them who created them, they will surely say;"Allah."
How then are they turned away?
means, `if you ask these idolators who associate others in worship with Allah,'
مَّنْ خَلَقَهُمْ لَيَقُولُنَّ اللَّهُ
(who created them, they will surely say;"Allah.")
means, they will admit that He Alone is the Creator of all things and He has no partner in that. Yet despite that they still worship others alongside Him who have nothing and are able to do nothing. This is the utmost foolishness and stupidity.
Allah says;
فَأَنَّى يُوْفَكُونَ
(How then are they turned away).
The Prophet's Complaint to Allah
Allah says,
وَقِيلِهِ يَارَبِّ إِنَّ هَوُلَاء قَوْمٌ لاَّ يُوْمِنُونَ
