Al-Qur'an Surah Az-Zukhruf Verse 63

When ‘Īsā came with clear proofs, he said, “I have come to you with wisdom, and to explain to you some of those matters in which you differ. So, fear Allah, and obey me.

Tafsir jalalayn

And when Jesus came with the clear signs, the miracles and the prescriptions [of the Law], he said, `Verily I have brought you wisdom, prophethood and the prescriptions of the Gospel, and [I have come] to make clear to you some of what you are at variance over, in the way of the rulings of the Torah for what concerns religion and otherwise -- and he [indeed] made clear to them the matters of religion. So fear God and obey me.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

وَلَمَّا جَاء عِيسَى بِالْبَيِّنَاتِ قَالَ

قَدْ جِيْتُكُم بِالْحِكْمَةِ



Verily, he (Satan) to you is a plain enemy. And when Isa came with (Our) clear proofs, he said;

"I have come to you with Al-Hikmah...",

meaning Prophethood;

وَلاُِبَيِّنَ لَكُم بَعْضَ الَّذِي تَخْتَلِفُونَ فِيهِ

and in order to make clear to you some of the (points) in which you differ.

Ibn Jarir said,

"This means religious matters, not worldly matters."

What he said is good.

فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ

Therefore have Taqwa of Allah,

means, `with regard to what I command you to do.'

وَأَطِيعُونِ



and obey me.

means, `in what I bring to you.'

إِنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ رَبِّي وَرَبُّكُمْ فَاعْبُدُوهُ هَذَا صِرَاطٌ مُّسْتَقِيمٌ
