Al-Qur'an Surah Az-Zukhruf Verse 42

Az-Zukhruf [43]: 42 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

اَوْ نُرِيَنَّكَ الَّذِيْ وَعَدْنٰهُمْ فَاِنَّا عَلَيْهِمْ مُّقْتَدِرُوْنَ (الزخرف : ٤٣)

Or
nuriyannaka
نُرِيَنَّكَ
We show you
alladhī
ٱلَّذِى
that which
waʿadnāhum
وَعَدْنَٰهُمْ
We have promised them
fa-innā
فَإِنَّا
then indeed We
ʿalayhim
عَلَيْهِم
over them
muq'tadirūna
مُّقْتَدِرُونَ
have full power

Transliteration:

Aw nuriyannakal lazee wa'adnaahum fa innaa 'alaihim muqtadiroon (QS. az-Zukhruf:42)

English / Sahih Translation:

Or whether [or not] We show you that which We have promised them, indeed, We are Perfect in Ability. (QS. Az-Zukhruf, ayah 42)

Or (if) We show you (in your life) that (punishment) with which We have threatened them, then We have full control over them.

or We show you, during your lifetime, that which We have promised them, in the way of chastisement, for surely We have power over, [surely] We are able to chastise, them.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

Or (if) We show you that wherewith We threaten them, then verily, We have perfect command over them.

means, `We are able to do both,' but Allah will not take His Messenger (in death) until He gives him the joy of seeing his enemies brought low and gives him power and authority over them and their wealth.

This was the view of As-Suddi and was the opinion favored by Ibn Jarir.
Encouragement to adhere to the Qur'an

Allah then says;

فَاسْتَمْسِكْ بِالَّذِي أُوحِيَ إِلَيْكَ

إِنَّكَ عَلَى صِرَاطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ
