Al-Qur'an Surah Az-Zukhruf Verse 13
Az-Zukhruf [43]: 13 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer
لِتَسْتَوٗا عَلٰى ظُهُوْرِهٖ ثُمَّ تَذْكُرُوْا نِعْمَةَ رَبِّكُمْ اِذَا اسْتَوَيْتُمْ عَلَيْهِ وَتَقُوْلُوْا سُبْحٰنَ الَّذِيْ سَخَّرَ لَنَا هٰذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهٗ مُقْرِنِيْنَۙ (الزخرف : ٤٣)

- لِتَسْتَوُۥا۟
- That you may sit firmly

- ظُهُورِهِۦ
- their backs

- ثُمَّ

- (of) your Lord

- is'tawaytum
- ٱسْتَوَيْتُمْ
- you sit firmly
- ʿalayhi
- عَلَيْهِ
- on them
- wataqūlū
- وَتَقُولُوا۟
- and say
- sub'ḥāna
- سُبْحَٰنَ
- "Glory be (to)
- alladhī
- ٱلَّذِى
- the One Who
- sakhara
- سَخَّرَ
- has subjected
- lanā
- لَنَا
- to us
- hādhā
- هَٰذَا
- this
- wamā
- وَمَا
- and not
- kunnā
- كُنَّا
- we were
- lahu
- لَهُۥ
- of it
- muq'rinīna
- مُقْرِنِينَ
- capable
Transliteration:
Litastawoo 'alaa zuhoorihee summa tazkuroo ni'mata Rabbikum izastawaitum 'alaihi wa taqooloo Subhaanal lazee sakhkhara lana haaza wa maa kunnaa lahoo muqrineen(QS. az-Zukhruf:13)
English / Sahih Translation:
That you may settle yourselves upon their backs and then remember the favor of your Lord when you have settled upon them and say, "Exalted is He who has subjected this to us, and we could not have [otherwise] subdued it. (QS. Az-Zukhruf, ayah 13)

so that you may mount upon their back, then recall the favour of your Lord after having mounted upon it and say, “Pure is the One who has subjugated this for us, and We were not able to have control over it,

that you may sit on their backs, then remember the blessing of your Lord when you are settled on them, and say, ‘Immaculate is He who has disposed this for us, and we [by ourselves] were no match for it.

So that you sit secure on their backs, then remember and reflect on the favor of your Lord, and when you settle securely on them, say: "All-Glorified is He Who has subjugated this to our use. We were never capable (of accomplishing this by ourselves).

So that you may sit firmly on their backs (and) then you may remember the favour of your Lord when you are firmly seated (and settled) on them and say, `Glory be to Him Who has made these things subservient to us, while we (if left to) ourselves were not capable of (the task of) subduing them.
English Literal
To sit on on its backs/surfaces , then you remember/mention your Lord`s blessing/goodness when you sat on it, and you say: "Praise/glory (to) who humiliated/subjugated for us this, and we were not to it overpowering/connecting (without God) ."

So that you may properly mount their backs, and may remember your Lord’s favour when you have mounted them, and say, “Purity is to Him, Who has given this ride in our control, and we did not have the strength for it.”

In order that you may mount on their backs, and then may remember the favor of your Lord when you mount thereon, and say: "Glory to Him Who has subjected this to us, and we could have never had it."

so that you may sit firmly on their backs. Then once you have mounted them, remember your Lord's favour and say, "Glory be to Him who has subjected these creatures to us; we would never on our own have subdued them.

That you may mount their backs, and remember the favor of your Lord as you sit firmly upon them, and say, “Glory be to Him Who placed these at our service; surely we could not have done it by ourselves.
Tafsir jalalayn
that you may sit, that you may find a firm position, upon their backs (He has made the [suffixed] pronoun a masculine plural and rendered zahr, `back', plural because of the particle m and its [plural] import); and then remember your Lord's grace when you are settled on them, and say, `Glory be to Him Who has disposed this for us, and we [by] ourselves were no match for it, [not] capable [of it].
Tafseer Ibn Kathir
لِتَسْتَوُوا عَلَى ظُهُورِهِ
In order that you may mount on their backs,
meaning, sit comfortably and securely,
عَلَى ظُهُورِهِ
(on their backs) means, on the backs of these kinds of animals.
ثُمَّ تَذْكُرُوا نِعْمَةَ رَبِّكُمْ
and then may remember the favor of your Lord,
means, whereby these animals are subjugated to you.
إِذَا اسْتَوَيْتُمْ عَلَيْهِ وَتَقُولُوا
سُبْحانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ
when you mount thereon, and say;
"Glory to Him Who has subjected this to us, and we could have never had it."
means, if it were not for the fact that Allah has subjugated these things to us, we could never have done this by our own strength.'
Ibn Abbas, Qatadah, As-Suddi and Ibn Zayd said;
"We could not have done this ourselves."
وَإِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا لَمُنقَلِبُونَ
