Al-Qur'an Surah Ash-Shuraa Verse 43
Ash-Shuraa [42]: 43 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer
وَلَمَنْ صَبَرَ وَغَفَرَ اِنَّ ذٰلِكَ لَمِنْ عَزْمِ الْاُمُوْرِ ࣖ (الشورى : ٤٢)
- walaman
- وَلَمَن
- And whoever
- ṣabara
- صَبَرَ
- (is) patient
- waghafara
- وَغَفَرَ
- and forgives
- inna
- إِنَّ
- indeed
- dhālika
- ذَٰلِكَ
- that
- lamin
- لَمِنْ
- (is) surely of
- ʿazmi
- عَزْمِ
- matters of determination
- l-umūri
- ٱلْأُمُورِ
- matters of determination
Transliteration:
Wa laman sabara wa ghafara inna zaalika lamin 'azmil umoor(QS. aš-Šūrā:43)
English / Sahih Translation:
And whoever is patient and forgives – indeed, that is of the matters [worthy] of resolve. (QS. Ash-Shuraa, ayah 43)

But verily he who is patient, and defend himself [by retaliating], and forgives, excuses [the wrong done to him] -- surely that, patience and excusing, is [true] constancy in [such] affairs, that is to say, it is one of those [courses of action] for which one must have firm resolve, meaning those which are required [of the believer] by [God's] Law.
Tafseer Ibn Kathir
وَلَمَن صَبَرَ وَغَفَرَ
And verily, whosoever shows patience and forgives,
meaning, whoever bears the insult with patience and conceals the evil action,
إِنَّ ذَلِكَ لَمِنْ عَزْمِ الاُْمُورِ
that would truly be from the things recommended by Allah.
Sa`id bin Jubayr said,
"This means, one of the things enjoined by Allah,"
i.e., good actions for which there will be a great reward and much praise
