Al-Qur'an Surah Ash-Shuraa Verse 35

Ash-Shuraa [42]: 35 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

وَّيَعْلَمَ الَّذِيْنَ يُجَادِلُوْنَ فِيْٓ اٰيٰتِنَاۗ مَا لَهُمْ مِّنْ مَّحِيْصٍ (الشورى : ٤٢)

wayaʿlama
وَيَعْلَمَ
And may know
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
yujādilūna
يُجَٰدِلُونَ
dispute
فِىٓ
concerning
āyātinā
ءَايَٰتِنَا
Our Signs
مَا
(that) not
lahum
لَهُم
for them
min
مِّن
any
maḥīṣin
مَّحِيصٍ
place of refuge

Transliteration:

Wa ya'lamal lazeena yujaadiloona feee Aayaatinaa maa lahum mim mahees (QS. aš-Šūrā:35)

English / Sahih Translation:

And [that is so] those who dispute concerning Our signs may know that for them there is no place of escape. (QS. Ash-Shuraa, ayah 35)

and (in such an event) those who raise disputes in Our verses will come to know that there is no way for them to escape.

Tafsir jalalayn

And that those who dispute concerning Our signs may know (read [indicative] wa-ya`lamu, `and [they] know', beginning a new sentence; or [subjunctive] wa-ya`lama, `and that [they] may know', as a supplement to an implicit reason, in other words; `He drowns them in order to exact vengeance against them and so that they may know that ...') they have no refuge, no escape from the chastisement (the negation represents two direct objects of [the verb] ya`lamu [or ya`lama], `[they] know'; the negation is also a comment on the [implied] action [of `escaping']).

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

And those who dispute as regards Our Ayat may know that there is no place of refuge for them.

means, they have no means of escape from Our torment and vengeance, for they are subdued by Our power
