Al-Qur'an Surah Ash-Shuraa Verse 11

He is the Creator of the heavens and the earth. He has made for you pairs from among yourselves, and pairs from the cattle. He makes you expand in this way. Nothing is like Him. And He is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing.

˹He is˺ the Originator of the heavens and the earth. He has made for you spouses from among yourselves, and ˹made˺ mates for cattle ˹as well˺—multiplying you ˹both˺. There is nothing like Him, for He ˹alone˺ is the All-Hearing, All-Seeing.

English Literal

Creator/bringer to being (of) the skies/space and the earth/Planet Earth, He made/created for you from yourselves spouses/pairs/kinds , and from the camels/livestock spouses/pairs/kinds , He creates/seeds you in it, (there) is not like Him/similar to Him a thing, and He is the hearing/listening, the seeing .

Creator of the Heavens and the Earth, He has made spouses for you from among yourselves, as well as pairs of livestock by means of which He multiplies His creatures. Nothing can be compared with Him! He is the All Hearing, the All Seeing.

Originator of the heavens and the earth. He made for you mates from among yourselves, and pairs of animals, by means of which He multiplies you. There is nothing like Him. He is the Hearing, the Seeing.

Tafsir jalalayn

The Originator of the heavens and the earth, the One Who created them [without precedent]. He has made for you, from your own selves, pairs, when He created Eve from Adam's rib, and [also] pairs, males and females, of the cattle; He multiplies you (read yadhra'ukum) by such [means], by the mentioned `making', that is to say, He multiplies you through this [means] by way of propagation (the [suffixed] pronoun [-kum in yadhra'ukum, `He multiplies you'] refers to both human beings and cattle, but predominantly [to humans]). There is nothing like Him (ka-mithlihi; the kf is extra, as there is no likeness of Him, exalted be He). He is the Hearer, of what is said, the Seer, of what is done.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

فَاطِرُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالاْاَرْضِ

The Creator of the heavens and the earth.

means, the Maker of them both and everything in between.

جَعَلَ لَكُم مِّنْ أَنفُسِكُمْ أَزْوَاجًا

He has made for you mates from yourselves,

means, of your own kind. As a blessing and a favor from Him, He has made your kind male and female.

وَمِنَ الاَْنْعَامِ أَزْوَاجًا

and for the cattle (also) mates.

means, and He has created for you eight pairs of cattle.

يَذْرَوُكُمْ فِيهِ

By this means He creates you.

means, in this manner He creates you, male and female, generation after generation of men and cattle.

لَيْسَ كَمِثْلِهِ شَيْءٌ

There is nothing like Him,

means, there is nothing like the Creator of these pairs, for He is the Unique, the Self-Sufficient Master, Who has no peer or equal.

وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ البَصِيرُ



He is the All-Hearer, the All-Seer.
