(The Consultation)

11

فَاطِرُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضِۗ جَعَلَ لَكُمْ مِّنْ اَنْفُسِكُمْ اَزْوَاجًا وَّمِنَ الْاَنْعَامِ اَزْوَاجًاۚ يَذْرَؤُكُمْ فِيْهِۗ لَيْسَ كَمِثْلِهٖ شَيْءٌ ۚوَهُوَ السَّمِيْعُ الْبَصِيْرُ ١١

fāṭiru
فَاطِرُ
(The) Creator
l-samāwāti
ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ
(of) the heavens
wal-arḍi
وَٱلْأَرْضِۚ
and the earth
jaʿala
جَعَلَ
He made
lakum
لَكُم
for you
min
مِّنْ
from
anfusikum
أَنفُسِكُمْ
yourselves
azwājan
أَزْوَٰجًا
mates
wamina
وَمِنَ
and among
l-anʿāmi
ٱلْأَنْعَٰمِ
the cattle
azwājan
أَزْوَٰجًاۖ
mates;
yadhra-ukum
يَذْرَؤُكُمْ
He multiplies you
fīhi
فِيهِۚ
thereby
laysa
لَيْسَ
(There) is not
kamith'lihi
كَمِثْلِهِۦ
like Him
shayon
شَىْءٌۖ
anything
wahuwa
وَهُوَ
and He
l-samīʿu
ٱلسَّمِيعُ
(is) the All-Hearer
l-baṣīru
ٱلْبَصِيرُ
the All-Seer
[He is] Creator of the heavens and the earth. He has made for you from yourselves, mates, and among the cattle, mates; He multiplies you thereby. There is nothing like unto Him, and He is the Hearing, the Seeing. (QS. [42] Ash-Shuraa: 11)
Tafsir
12

لَهٗ مَقَالِيْدُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضِۚ يَبْسُطُ الرِّزْقَ لِمَنْ يَّشَاۤءُ وَيَقْدِرُ ۚاِنَّهٗ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيْمٌ ١٢

lahu
لَهُۥ
To Him (belongs)
maqālīdu
مَقَالِيدُ
(the) keys
l-samāwāti
ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ
(of) the heavens
wal-arḍi
وَٱلْأَرْضِۖ
and the earth
yabsuṭu
يَبْسُطُ
He extends
l-riz'qa
ٱلرِّزْقَ
the provision
liman
لِمَن
for whom
yashāu
يَشَآءُ
He wills
wayaqdiru
وَيَقْدِرُۚ
and restricts
innahu
إِنَّهُۥ
Indeed He
bikulli
بِكُلِّ
of every
shayin
شَىْءٍ
thing
ʿalīmun
عَلِيمٌ
(is) All-Knower
To Him belong the keys of the heavens and the earth. He extends provision for whom He wills and restricts [it]. Indeed He is, of all things, Knowing. (QS. [42] Ash-Shuraa: 12)
Tafsir
13

۞ شَرَعَ لَكُمْ مِّنَ الدِّيْنِ مَا وَصّٰى بِهٖ نُوْحًا وَّالَّذِيْٓ اَوْحَيْنَآ اِلَيْكَ وَمَا وَصَّيْنَا بِهٖٓ اِبْرٰهِيْمَ وَمُوْسٰى وَعِيْسٰٓى اَنْ اَقِيْمُوا الدِّيْنَ وَلَا تَتَفَرَّقُوْا فِيْهِۗ كَبُرَ عَلَى الْمُشْرِكِيْنَ مَا تَدْعُوْهُمْ اِلَيْهِۗ اَللّٰهُ يَجْتَبِيْٓ اِلَيْهِ مَنْ يَّشَاۤءُ وَيَهْدِيْٓ اِلَيْهِ مَنْ يُّنِيْبُۗ ١٣

sharaʿa
شَرَعَ
He has ordained
lakum
لَكُم
for you
mina
مِّنَ
of
l-dīni
ٱلدِّينِ
the religion
مَا
what
waṣṣā
وَصَّىٰ
He enjoined
bihi
بِهِۦ
upon
nūḥan
نُوحًا
Nuh
wa-alladhī
وَٱلَّذِىٓ
and that which
awḥaynā
أَوْحَيْنَآ
We have revealed
ilayka
إِلَيْكَ
to you
wamā
وَمَا
and what
waṣṣaynā
وَصَّيْنَا
We enjoined
bihi
بِهِۦٓ
upon
ib'rāhīma
إِبْرَٰهِيمَ
Ibrahim
wamūsā
وَمُوسَىٰ
and Musa
waʿīsā
وَعِيسَىٰٓۖ
and Isa
an
أَنْ
To
aqīmū
أَقِيمُوا۟
establish
l-dīna
ٱلدِّينَ
the religion
walā
وَلَا
and not
tatafarraqū
تَتَفَرَّقُوا۟
be divided
fīhi
فِيهِۚ
therein
kabura
كَبُرَ
Is difficult
ʿalā
عَلَى
on
l-mush'rikīna
ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ
the polytheists
مَا
what
tadʿūhum
تَدْعُوهُمْ
you call them
ilayhi
إِلَيْهِۚ
to it
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
yajtabī
يَجْتَبِىٓ
chooses
ilayhi
إِلَيْهِ
for Himself
man
مَن
whom
yashāu
يَشَآءُ
He wills
wayahdī
وَيَهْدِىٓ
and guides
ilayhi
إِلَيْهِ
to Himself
man
مَن
whoever
yunību
يُنِيبُ
turns
He has ordained for you of religion what He enjoined upon Noah and that which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], and what We enjoined upon Abraham and Moses and Jesus – to establish the religion and not be divided therein. Difficult for those who associate others with Allah is that to which you invite them. Allah chooses for Himself whom He wills and guides to Himself whoever turns back [to Him]. (QS. [42] Ash-Shuraa: 13)
Tafsir
14

وَمَا تَفَرَّقُوْٓا اِلَّا مِنْۢ بَعْدِ مَا جَاۤءَهُمُ الْعِلْمُ بَغْيًاۢ بَيْنَهُمْۗ وَلَوْلَا كَلِمَةٌ سَبَقَتْ مِنْ رَّبِّكَ اِلٰٓى اَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّى لَّقُضِيَ بَيْنَهُمْۗ وَاِنَّ الَّذِيْنَ اُوْرِثُوا الْكِتٰبَ مِنْۢ بَعْدِهِمْ لَفِيْ شَكٍّ مِّنْهُ مُرِيْبٍ ١٤

wamā
وَمَا
And not
tafarraqū
تَفَرَّقُوٓا۟
they became divided
illā
إِلَّا
until
min
مِنۢ
after
baʿdi
بَعْدِ
after
مَا
[what]
jāahumu
جَآءَهُمُ
came to them
l-ʿil'mu
ٱلْعِلْمُ
the knowledge
baghyan
بَغْيًۢا
(out of) rivalry
baynahum
بَيْنَهُمْۚ
among them
walawlā
وَلَوْلَا
And if not
kalimatun
كَلِمَةٌ
(for) a word
sabaqat
سَبَقَتْ
(that) preceded
min
مِن
from
rabbika
رَّبِّكَ
your Lord
ilā
إِلَىٰٓ
for
ajalin
أَجَلٍ
a term
musamman
مُّسَمًّى
specified
laquḍiya
لَّقُضِىَ
surely, it (would have) been settled
baynahum
بَيْنَهُمْۚ
between them
wa-inna
وَإِنَّ
And indeed
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
ūrithū
أُورِثُوا۟
were made to inherit
l-kitāba
ٱلْكِتَٰبَ
the Book
min
مِنۢ
after them
baʿdihim
بَعْدِهِمْ
after them
lafī
لَفِى
(are) surely in
shakkin
شَكٍّ
doubt
min'hu
مِّنْهُ
concerning it
murībin
مُرِيبٍ
disquieting
And they did not become divided until after knowledge had come to them – out of jealous animosity between themselves. And if not for a word that preceded from your Lord [postponing the penalty] until a specified time, it would have been concluded between them. And indeed, those who were granted inheritance of the Scripture after them are, concerning it, in disquieting doubt. (QS. [42] Ash-Shuraa: 14)
Tafsir
15

فَلِذٰلِكَ فَادْعُ ۚوَاسْتَقِمْ كَمَآ اُمِرْتَۚ وَلَا تَتَّبِعْ اَهْوَاۤءَهُمْۚ وَقُلْ اٰمَنْتُ بِمَآ اَنْزَلَ اللّٰهُ مِنْ كِتٰبٍۚ وَاُمِرْتُ لِاَعْدِلَ بَيْنَكُمْ ۗ اَللّٰهُ رَبُّنَا وَرَبُّكُمْ ۗ لَنَآ اَعْمَالُنَا وَلَكُمْ اَعْمَالُكُمْ ۗ لَاحُجَّةَ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكُمْ ۗ اَللّٰهُ يَجْمَعُ بَيْنَنَا ۚوَاِلَيْهِ الْمَصِيْرُ ۗ ١٥

falidhālika
فَلِذَٰلِكَ
So to that
fa-ud'ʿu
فَٱدْعُۖ
then invite
wa-is'taqim
وَٱسْتَقِمْ
and stand firm
kamā
كَمَآ
as
umir'ta
أُمِرْتَۖ
you are commanded
walā
وَلَا
and (do) not
tattabiʿ
تَتَّبِعْ
follow
ahwāahum
أَهْوَآءَهُمْۖ
their desires
waqul
وَقُلْ
but say
āmantu
ءَامَنتُ
"I believe
bimā
بِمَآ
in what
anzala
أَنزَلَ
Allah has sent down
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah has sent down
min
مِن
of
kitābin
كِتَٰبٍۖ
(the) Book
wa-umir'tu
وَأُمِرْتُ
and I am commanded
li-aʿdila
لِأَعْدِلَ
that I do justice
baynakumu
بَيْنَكُمُۖ
between you
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
rabbunā
رَبُّنَا
(is) our Lord
warabbukum
وَرَبُّكُمْۖ
and your Lord
lanā
لَنَآ
For us
aʿmālunā
أَعْمَٰلُنَا
our deeds
walakum
وَلَكُمْ
and for you
aʿmālukum
أَعْمَٰلُكُمْۖ
your deeds
لَا
(There is) no
ḥujjata
حُجَّةَ
argument
baynanā
بَيْنَنَا
between us
wabaynakumu
وَبَيْنَكُمُۖ
and between you
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
yajmaʿu
يَجْمَعُ
will assemble
baynanā
بَيْنَنَاۖ
[between] us
wa-ilayhi
وَإِلَيْهِ
and to Him
l-maṣīru
ٱلْمَصِيرُ
(is) the final return"
So to that [religion of Allah] invite, [O Muhammad], and remain on a right course as you are commanded and do not follow their inclinations but say, "I have believed in what Allah has revealed of scripture [i.e., the Quran], and I have been commanded to do justice among you. Allah is our Lord and your Lord. For us are our deeds, and for you your deeds. There is no [need for] argument between us and you. Allah will bring us together, and to Him is the [final] destination." (QS. [42] Ash-Shuraa: 15)
Tafsir
16

وَالَّذِيْنَ يُحَاۤجُّوْنَ فِى اللّٰهِ مِنْۢ بَعْدِ مَا اسْتُجِيْبَ لَهٗ حُجَّتُهُمْ دَاحِضَةٌ عِنْدَ رَبِّهِمْ وَعَلَيْهِمْ غَضَبٌ وَّلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ شَدِيْدٌ ١٦

wa-alladhīna
وَٱلَّذِينَ
And those who
yuḥājjūna
يُحَآجُّونَ
argue
فِى
concerning
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
min
مِنۢ
after
baʿdi
بَعْدِ
after
مَا
[what]
us'tujība
ٱسْتُجِيبَ
response has been made to Him
lahu
لَهُۥ
response has been made to Him
ḥujjatuhum
حُجَّتُهُمْ
their argument
dāḥiḍatun
دَاحِضَةٌ
(is) invalid
ʿinda
عِندَ
with
rabbihim
رَبِّهِمْ
their Lord
waʿalayhim
وَعَلَيْهِمْ
and upon them
ghaḍabun
غَضَبٌ
(is) wrath
walahum
وَلَهُمْ
and for them
ʿadhābun
عَذَابٌ
(is) a punishment
shadīdun
شَدِيدٌ
severe
And those who argue concerning Allah after He has been responded to – their argument is invalid with their Lord, and upon them is [His] wrath, and for them is a severe punishment. (QS. [42] Ash-Shuraa: 16)
Tafsir
17

اَللّٰهُ الَّذِيْٓ اَنْزَلَ الْكِتٰبَ بِالْحَقِّ وَالْمِيْزَانَ ۗوَمَا يُدْرِيْكَ لَعَلَّ السَّاعَةَ قَرِيْبٌ ١٧

al-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
alladhī
ٱلَّذِىٓ
(is) the One Who
anzala
أَنزَلَ
(has) sent down
l-kitāba
ٱلْكِتَٰبَ
the Book
bil-ḥaqi
بِٱلْحَقِّ
in truth
wal-mīzāna
وَٱلْمِيزَانَۗ
and the Balance
wamā
وَمَا
And what
yud'rīka
يُدْرِيكَ
will make you know?
laʿalla
لَعَلَّ
Perhaps
l-sāʿata
ٱلسَّاعَةَ
the Hour
qarībun
قَرِيبٌ
(is) near
It is Allah who has sent down the Book in truth and [also] the balance [i.e., justice]. And what will make you perceive? Perhaps the Hour is near. (QS. [42] Ash-Shuraa: 17)
Tafsir
18

يَسْتَعْجِلُ بِهَا الَّذِيْنَ لَا يُؤْمِنُوْنَ بِهَاۚ وَالَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا مُشْفِقُوْنَ مِنْهَاۙ وَيَعْلَمُوْنَ اَنَّهَا الْحَقُّ ۗ اَلَآ اِنَّ الَّذِيْنَ يُمَارُوْنَ فِى السَّاعَةِ لَفِيْ ضَلٰلٍۢ بَعِيْدٍ ١٨

yastaʿjilu
يَسْتَعْجِلُ
Seek to hasten
bihā
بِهَا
[of] it
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
لَا
(do) not
yu'minūna
يُؤْمِنُونَ
believe
bihā
بِهَاۖ
in it
wa-alladhīna
وَٱلَّذِينَ
and those who
āmanū
ءَامَنُوا۟
believe
mush'fiqūna
مُشْفِقُونَ
(are) fearful
min'hā
مِنْهَا
of it
wayaʿlamūna
وَيَعْلَمُونَ
and know
annahā
أَنَّهَا
that it
l-ḥaqu
ٱلْحَقُّۗ
(is) the truth
alā
أَلَآ
Unquestionably
inna
إِنَّ
indeed
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
yumārūna
يُمَارُونَ
dispute
فِى
concerning
l-sāʿati
ٱلسَّاعَةِ
the Hour
lafī
لَفِى
(are) certainly in
ḍalālin
ضَلَٰلٍۭ
error
baʿīdin
بَعِيدٍ
far
Those who do not believe in it are impatient for it, but those who believe are fearful of it and know that it is the truth. Unquestionably, those who dispute concerning the Hour are in extreme error. (QS. [42] Ash-Shuraa: 18)
Tafsir
19

اَللّٰهُ لَطِيْفٌۢ بِعِبَادِهٖ يَرْزُقُ مَنْ يَّشَاۤءُ ۚوَهُوَ الْقَوِيُّ الْعَزِيْزُ ࣖ ١٩

al-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
laṭīfun
لَطِيفٌۢ
(is) Subtle
biʿibādihi
بِعِبَادِهِۦ
with His slaves;
yarzuqu
يَرْزُقُ
He gives provision
man
مَن
(to) whom
yashāu
يَشَآءُۖ
He wills
wahuwa
وَهُوَ
And He
l-qawiyu
ٱلْقَوِىُّ
(is) the All-Strong
l-ʿazīzu
ٱلْعَزِيزُ
the All-Mighty
Allah is Subtle with His servants; He gives provision to whom He wills. And He is the Powerful, the Exalted in Might. (QS. [42] Ash-Shuraa: 19)
Tafsir
20

مَنْ كَانَ يُرِيْدُ حَرْثَ الْاٰخِرَةِ نَزِدْ لَهٗ فِيْ حَرْثِهٖۚ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُرِيْدُ حَرْثَ الدُّنْيَا نُؤْتِهٖ مِنْهَاۙ وَمَا لَهٗ فِى الْاٰخِرَةِ مِنْ نَّصِيْبٍ ٢٠

man
مَن
Whoever
kāna
كَانَ
is
yurīdu
يُرِيدُ
desiring
ḥartha
حَرْثَ
(the) harvest
l-ākhirati
ٱلْءَاخِرَةِ
(of) the Hereafter -
nazid
نَزِدْ
We increase
lahu
لَهُۥ
for him
فِى
in
ḥarthihi
حَرْثِهِۦۖ
his harvest
waman
وَمَن
And whoever
kāna
كَانَ
is
yurīdu
يُرِيدُ
desiring
ḥartha
حَرْثَ
(the) harvest
l-dun'yā
ٱلدُّنْيَا
(of) the world
nu'tihi
نُؤْتِهِۦ
We give him
min'hā
مِنْهَا
of it
wamā
وَمَا
but not
lahu
لَهُۥ
for him
فِى
in
l-ākhirati
ٱلْءَاخِرَةِ
the Hereafter
min
مِن
any
naṣībin
نَّصِيبٍ
share
Whoever desires the harvest of the Hereafter – We increase for him in his harvest [i.e., reward]. And whoever desires the harvest [i.e., benefits] of this world – We give him thereof, but there is not for him in the Hereafter any share. (QS. [42] Ash-Shuraa: 20)
Tafsir
