حٰمۤ ۚ ١

Tafsir
3

كَذٰلِكَ يُوْحِيْٓ اِلَيْكَ وَاِلَى الَّذِيْنَ مِنْ قَبْلِكَۙ اللّٰهُ الْعَزِيْزُ الْحَكِيْمُ ٣

kadhālika
كَذَٰلِكَ
Thus
yūḥī
يُوحِىٓ
reveals
ilayka
إِلَيْكَ
to you
wa-ilā
وَإِلَى
and to
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
those
min
مِن
before you
qablika
قَبْلِكَ
before you
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
l-ʿazīzu
ٱلْعَزِيزُ
the All-Mighty
l-ḥakīmu
ٱلْحَكِيمُ
the All-Wise
Thus has He revealed to you, [O Muhammad], and to those before you – Allah, the Exalted in Might, the Wise. (QS. [42] Ash-Shuraa: 3)
Tafsir
4

لَهٗ مَا فِى السَّمٰوٰتِ وَمَا فِى الْاَرْضِۗ وَهُوَ الْعَلِيُّ الْعَظِيْمُ ٤

lahu
لَهُۥ
To Him
مَا
(belong) whatever
فِى
(is) in
l-samāwāti
ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ
the heavens
wamā
وَمَا
and whatever
فِى
(is) in
l-arḍi
ٱلْأَرْضِۖ
the earth
wahuwa
وَهُوَ
and He
l-ʿaliyu
ٱلْعَلِىُّ
(is) the Most High
l-ʿaẓīmu
ٱلْعَظِيمُ
the Most Great
To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth, and He is the Most High, the Most Great. (QS. [42] Ash-Shuraa: 4)
Tafsir
5

تَكَادُ السَّمٰوٰتُ يَتَفَطَّرْنَ مِنْ فَوْقِهِنَّ وَالْمَلٰۤىِٕكَةُ يُسَبِّحُوْنَ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّهِمْ وَيَسْتَغْفِرُوْنَ لِمَنْ فِى الْاَرْضِۗ اَلَآ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ هُوَ الْغَفُوْرُ الرَّحِيْمُ ٥

تَكَادُ
Almost
l-samāwātu
ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتُ
the heavens
yatafaṭṭarna
يَتَفَطَّرْنَ
break up
min
مِن
from
fawqihinna
فَوْقِهِنَّۚ
above them
wal-malāikatu
وَٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ
and the Angels
yusabbiḥūna
يُسَبِّحُونَ
glorify
biḥamdi
بِحَمْدِ
(the) praise
rabbihim
رَبِّهِمْ
(of) their Lord
wayastaghfirūna
وَيَسْتَغْفِرُونَ
and ask for forgiveness
liman
لِمَن
for those
فِى
on
l-arḍi
ٱلْأَرْضِۗ
the earth
alā
أَلَآ
Unquestionably
inna
إِنَّ
indeed
l-laha
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
huwa
هُوَ
He
l-ghafūru
ٱلْغَفُورُ
(is) the Oft-Forgiving
l-raḥīmu
ٱلرَّحِيمُ
the Most Merciful
The heavens almost break from above them, and the angels exalt [Allah] with praise of their Lord and ask forgiveness for those on earth. Unquestionably, it is Allah who is the Forgiving, the Merciful. (QS. [42] Ash-Shuraa: 5)
Tafsir
6

وَالَّذِيْنَ اتَّخَذُوْا مِنْ دُوْنِهٖٓ اَوْلِيَاۤءَ اللّٰهُ حَفِيْظٌ عَلَيْهِمْۖ وَمَآ اَنْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ بِوَكِيْلٍ ٦

wa-alladhīna
وَٱلَّذِينَ
And those who
ittakhadhū
ٱتَّخَذُوا۟
take
min
مِن
besides Him
dūnihi
دُونِهِۦٓ
besides Him
awliyāa
أَوْلِيَآءَ
protectors
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
ḥafīẓun
حَفِيظٌ
(is) a Guardian
ʿalayhim
عَلَيْهِمْ
over them
wamā
وَمَآ
and not
anta
أَنتَ
you
ʿalayhim
عَلَيْهِم
(are) over them
biwakīlin
بِوَكِيلٍ
a manager
And those who take as allies other than Him – Allah is [yet] Guardian over them; and you, [O Muhammad], are not over them a manager. (QS. [42] Ash-Shuraa: 6)
Tafsir
7

وَكَذٰلِكَ اَوْحَيْنَآ اِلَيْكَ قُرْاٰنًا عَرَبِيًّا لِّتُنْذِرَ اُمَّ الْقُرٰى وَمَنْ حَوْلَهَا وَتُنْذِرَ يَوْمَ الْجَمْعِ لَا رَيْبَ فِيْهِ ۗفَرِيْقٌ فِى الْجَنَّةِ وَفَرِيْقٌ فِى السَّعِيْرِ ٧

wakadhālika
وَكَذَٰلِكَ
And thus
awḥaynā
أَوْحَيْنَآ
We have revealed
ilayka
إِلَيْكَ
to you
qur'ānan
قُرْءَانًا
a Quran
ʿarabiyyan
عَرَبِيًّا
(in) Arabic
litundhira
لِّتُنذِرَ
that you may warn
umma
أُمَّ
(the) mother
l-qurā
ٱلْقُرَىٰ
(of) the towns
waman
وَمَنْ
and whoever
ḥawlahā
حَوْلَهَا
(is) around it
watundhira
وَتُنذِرَ
and warn
yawma
يَوْمَ
(of the) Day
l-jamʿi
ٱلْجَمْعِ
(of) Assembly
لَا
(there is) no
rayba
رَيْبَ
doubt
fīhi
فِيهِۚ
in it
farīqun
فَرِيقٌ
A party
فِى
(will be) in
l-janati
ٱلْجَنَّةِ
Paradise
wafarīqun
وَفَرِيقٌ
and a party
فِى
in
l-saʿīri
ٱلسَّعِيرِ
the Blazing Fire
And thus We have revealed to you an Arabic Quran that you may warn the Mother of Cities [i.e., Makkah] and those around it and warn of the Day of Assembly, about which there is no doubt. A party will be in Paradise and a party in the Blaze. (QS. [42] Ash-Shuraa: 7)

8

وَلَوْ شَاۤءَ اللّٰهُ لَجَعَلَهُمْ اُمَّةً وَّاحِدَةً وَّلٰكِنْ يُّدْخِلُ مَنْ يَّشَاۤءُ فِيْ رَحْمَتِهٖۗ وَالظّٰلِمُوْنَ مَا لَهُمْ مِّنْ وَّلِيٍّ وَّلَا نَصِيْرٍ ٨

walaw
وَلَوْ
And if
shāa
شَآءَ
Allah willed
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah willed
lajaʿalahum
لَجَعَلَهُمْ
He could have made them
ummatan
أُمَّةً
a community
wāḥidatan
وَٰحِدَةً
one
walākin
وَلَٰكِن
but
yud'khilu
يُدْخِلُ
He admits
man
مَن
whom
yashāu
يَشَآءُ
He wills
فِى
in (to)
raḥmatihi
رَحْمَتِهِۦۚ
His Mercy
wal-ẓālimūna
وَٱلظَّٰلِمُونَ
And the wrongdoers
مَا
not
lahum
لَهُم
for them
min
مِّن
any
waliyyin
وَلِىٍّ
protector
walā
وَلَا
and not
naṣīrin
نَصِيرٍ
any helper
And if Allah willed, He could have made them [of] one religion, but He admits whom He wills into His mercy. And the wrongdoers have not any protector or helper. (QS. [42] Ash-Shuraa: 8)
Tafsir
9

اَمِ اتَّخَذُوْا مِنْ دُوْنِهٖٓ اَوْلِيَاۤءَۚ فَاللّٰهُ هُوَ الْوَلِيُّ وَهُوَ يُحْيِ الْمَوْتٰى ۖوَهُوَ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيْرٌ ࣖ ٩

ami
أَمِ
Or
ittakhadhū
ٱتَّخَذُوا۟
have they taken
min
مِن
besides Him
dūnihi
دُونِهِۦٓ
besides Him
awliyāa
أَوْلِيَآءَۖ
protectors?
fal-lahu
فَٱللَّهُ
But Allah
huwa
هُوَ
He
l-waliyu
ٱلْوَلِىُّ
(is) the Protector
wahuwa
وَهُوَ
and He
yuḥ'yī
يُحْىِ
gives life
l-mawtā
ٱلْمَوْتَىٰ
(to) the dead
wahuwa
وَهُوَ
And He
ʿalā
عَلَىٰ
(is) on
kulli
كُلِّ
every
shayin
شَىْءٍ
thing
qadīrun
قَدِيرٌ
All-Powerful
Or have they taken protectors [or allies] besides Him? But Allah – He is the Protector, and He gives life to the dead, and He is over all things competent. (QS. [42] Ash-Shuraa: 9)
Tafsir
10

وَمَا اخْتَلَفْتُمْ فِيْهِ مِنْ شَيْءٍ فَحُكْمُهٗٓ اِلَى اللّٰهِ ۗذٰلِكُمُ اللّٰهُ رَبِّيْ عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُۖ وَاِلَيْهِ اُنِيْبُ ١٠

wamā
وَمَا
And whatever
ikh'talaftum
ٱخْتَلَفْتُمْ
you differ
fīhi
فِيهِ
in it
min
مِن
of
shayin
شَىْءٍ
a thing
faḥuk'muhu
فَحُكْمُهُۥٓ
then its ruling
ilā
إِلَى
(is) to
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِۚ
Allah
dhālikumu
ذَٰلِكُمُ
That
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
(is) Allah
rabbī
رَبِّى
my Lord
ʿalayhi
عَلَيْهِ
upon Him
tawakkaltu
تَوَكَّلْتُ
I put my trust
wa-ilayhi
وَإِلَيْهِ
and to Him
unību
أُنِيبُ
I turn
And in anything over which you disagree – its ruling is [to be referred] to Allah. [Say], "That is Allah, my Lord; upon Him I have relied, and to Him I turn back." (QS. [42] Ash-Shuraa: 10)
