Fussilat [41]: 52 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

قُلْ اَرَءَيْتُمْ اِنْ كَانَ مِنْ عِنْدِ اللّٰهِ ثُمَّ كَفَرْتُمْ بِهٖ مَنْ اَضَلُّ مِمَّنْ هُوَ فِيْ شِقَاقٍۢ بَعِيْدٍ (فصلت : ٤١)

Transliteration:

Qul araiaitum in kaana min 'indil laahi summa kafar tum bihee man adallu mimman huwa fee shiqaqim ba'eed (QS. Fuṣṣilat:52)

English / Sahih Translation:

Say, "Have you considered: if it [i.e., the Quran] is from Allah and you disbelieved in it, who would be more astray than one who is in extreme dissension?" (QS. Fussilat, ayah 52)

Say (to the disbelievers), “Tell me, if it (the Qur’ān) is from Allah, and still you reject it, then who can be more erroneous than him who is (involved) in far reaching schism?”

Ask ˹them, O  Prophet˺, “Imagine if this ˹Quran˺ is ˹truly˺ from Allah and you deny it: who can be more astray than those who have gone too far in opposition ˹to the truth˺?”

English Literal

Say: "Did you see/understand if (it) was from at God, then you disbelieved with (in) it, who (is) more misguided than who he is in far/distant defiance/animosity ."

Tafsir jalalayn

Say; `Consider [this]; if it, the Qur'n, is from God, as the Prophet says, and you disbelieve in it, who -- in other words, none -- will be further astray than one who is in extreme defiance?', of the truth (this [third person singular address] is used instead of `[who will be further astray] than you' in order to point out their status [as disbelievers]).

The Qur'an and the Proofs of its Truth

Allah says,

قُلْ

Say, -- (O Muhammad, to these idolators who disbelieve in the Qur'an) --

أَرَأَيْتُمْ إِن كَانَ

Tell me, if it, -- (this Qur'an) --

مِنْ عِندِ اللَّهِ ثُمَّ كَفَرْتُم بِهِ

is from Allah, and you disbelieve in it,

means, `what do you think your position is before the One Who revealed it to His Messenger?'

Allah says;

مَنْ أَضَلُّ مِمَّنْ هُوَ فِي شِقَاقٍ بَعِيدٍ



Who is more astray than one who is in opposition far away.

means, he is in a state of disbelief, stubbornness and opposition to the truth, and is following a path that leads far away from guidance.

Then Allah says
