Al-Qur'an Surah Fussilat Verse 39
Fussilat [41]: 39 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer
وَمِنْ اٰيٰتِهٖٓ اَنَّكَ تَرَى الْاَرْضَ خَاشِعَةً فَاِذَآ اَنْزَلْنَا عَلَيْهَا الْمَاۤءَ اهْتَزَّتْ وَرَبَتْۗ اِنَّ الَّذِيْٓ اَحْيَاهَا لَمُحْيِ الْمَوْتٰى ۗاِنَّهٗ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيْرٌ (فصلت : ٤١)

- أَنَّكَ
- (is) that you

- تَرَى
- see
- l-arḍa
- ٱلْأَرْضَ
- the earth

- خَٰشِعَةً
- barren
- fa-idhā
- فَإِذَآ
- but when
- anzalnā
- أَنزَلْنَا
- We send down
- ʿalayhā
- عَلَيْهَا
- upon it
- l-māa
- ٱلْمَآءَ
- water
- ih'tazzat
- ٱهْتَزَّتْ
- it is stirred (to life)
- warabat
- وَرَبَتْۚ
- and grows
- inna
- إِنَّ
- Indeed
- alladhī
- ٱلَّذِىٓ
- the One Who
- aḥyāhā
- أَحْيَاهَا
- gives it life
- lamuḥ'yī
- لَمُحْىِ
- (is) surely the Giver of life
- l-mawtā
- ٱلْمَوْتَىٰٓۚ
- (to) the dead
- innahu
- إِنَّهُۥ
- Indeed He

- شَىْءٍ

- قَدِيرٌ
- All-Powerful
Transliteration:
Wa min Aayaatiheee annaka taral arda khaashi'atan fa izaaa anzalna 'alaihal maaa'ah tazzat wa rabat; innal lazeee ahyaahaa lamuhiyil mawtaa; innahoo 'alaa kulli shai-in Qadeer(QS. Fuṣṣilat:39)
English / Sahih Translation:
And of His signs is that you see the earth stilled, but when We send down upon it rain, it quivers and grows. Indeed, He who has given it life is the Giver of Life to the dead. Indeed, He is over all things competent. (QS. Fussilat, ayah 39)

And among His signs is that you see the land inactive; then, once We send down water thereto, it gets excited and swells. Surely, the One who has given life to it is the One who gives life to the dead. No doubt, He is powerful to do everything.

Among His signs, is that you see the earth desolate; but when We send down water upon it, it stirs and swells. Indeed, He who revives it will also revive the dead. Indeed, He has power over all things.

And among His signs is this: you see the earth lying low and barren; but when We send down water upon it, it stirs and swells (with life). He Who revives it is certainly the One Who will bring the dead to life. Surely He has full power over everything.

And it is (one) of His signs that the earth that looks to you desolate stirs up (with life) and swells (producing herbage) when We shower rain water on it. Verily, He (the Almighty Lord) Who gives it life will surely raise the dead to life (as well). Verily, He is the Possessor of power over every desired thing.
English Literal
And from His verses/evidences/signs, that you see the earth/Planet Earth humble/submissive , so if/when We descended on it the water, it shook/moved and it grew/increased, that truly who revived it (is) reviving (E) the deads, that He truly (is) on every thing capable/able.

Further evidence is that (at times) you find the earth to be barren. When it is watered it moves and swells (to let the plants grow). The One who brings it back to life will also bring the dead back to life. He has power over all things.

Tafsir jalalayn
And among His signs is that you see the earth desolate, dried out, without any vegetation, but when We send down water upon it, it stirs, it moves, and swells, [swells] and rises. Truly He Who revives it is indeed the Reviver of the dead. Surely He has power over all things.
Tafseer Ibn Kathir
وَمِنْ ايَاتِهِ
And among His signs,
means, signs of His ability to bring the dead back to life.
أَنَّكَ تَرَى الاَْرْضَ خَاشِعَةً
that you see the earth barren,
means, lifeless, with nothing growing in it; it is dead.
فَإِذَا أَنزَلْنَا عَلَيْهَا الْمَاء اهْتَزَّتْ وَرَبَتْ
but when We send down water (rain) to it, it is stirred to life and growth.
means, it brings forth all kinds of crops and fruits.
إِنَّ الَّذِي أَحْيَاهَا لَمُحْيِي الْمَوْتَى
إِنَّهُ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
Verily, He Who gives it life, surely is able to give life to the dead. Indeed He is Able to do all things.
